Watched Spurs-Brentford and Toney was far too good for Spurs very average backline of Tanganga-Dier-Lenglet. Mbeumo had a very sloppy game and Brentford still gave them trouble because Toney played so well. Classic CF goal for the 2nd and created the attack that led to the first with a great flick on header. He's not quick, but he's got a lot of the qualities that we're missing up top and seem to suit Ten Hag's system.
If he's planning on betting on himself scoring 20 goals for a top 4 Prem side and winning the role of Kane's backup, penalty taker in shootouts for England starter at the 2026 World Cup, he'll do a Saha and scream for Brentford to sell him with 2 years to go on his deal, which is this summer. We'd have to get a loanee in for 6 months, or pay an extra 20M and get him, but considering Brentford are in 10th and not going down but probably not making Europe either, there is a case for them to sell him at peak value in a month, ride out the season and sign his replacement from a smaller league for 20-25M after we send them 50M. They could also afford the young CB and Eriksen replacement (Damsgaard seems like he's not gonna be that guy and they might need more of a typical playmaking CM than a wider AM type, they already have Kane-Potter to start opposite Mbeumo behind a 9 when they play 3-4-2-1 or in a 4-2-3-) if they did this. Might be smart long-term planning.
