The centre-forward market...

Linked with Marcus thuram now on a cut price deal. Would be very good business for the 10m quoted

i rate his brother much higher than him, plays in midfield though. Marcus Thuram was one of the players I was very surprised went to the world cup with France as think they had better options in a few positions stayed at home

Ditto - given Juve's financial problems I think he might represent one of the few "bargain" centre-forwards available. It's just whether they'll sell in January or not...

DOnt think he will be a bargain whatsoever, I do think the financial problems might mean he is potentially available whih he neever would hav ebeen otherwise, but I think the fee will be high.

Think he woul dbe my choice though, very young still, big strong and technically very good.....though eirdly he always looks quite awkward to me with his movement. He is one of a very few number of strikers I think could be top quality at the moment and he is a proper striker as well not more a wide man like some of the touted names

I think we should throw everything at Goncalo Ramos. I know that ETH apparently prefers having a larger target man up front, which might help explain the interest in Gakpo, but Ramos looks like such a better all-around player to me.

Benfica would demand a bomb, but of course they would, and they have every right to! But I think we should cough it up and tie the lad down before someone else does.

Terem Moffi at Lorient should be someone United look at. Looks a very good finisher and keeps on improving every season. Contract expires 2024, so maybe they’d look to cash in while he’s got value.

Moffi will be popping up on the radar of many smart clubs as he is just 23 like Osimehn and has a very good physical profile. He is robust and can ride challenges, two footed, powerful & pacey, agile, 6 foot 2, technically secure
Just saw this Moffi goal again, expecting to see him getting linked around soon in January. Will be decent price in summer and worth looking at if he continues his breakout year.

Ohsimen
Thuram
Vlahovic
Morata

Any suggestions better than them for Centre Forward?
That list sums up the extremely severe shortage in quality among strikers right now. And to think that there was a time when it was raining capable strikers across the beautiful game, I feel sad.

Vlahovic is the typical EtH central striker. Height, heading ability and finishing. Break the bank for him.

Only Juve's financial troubles could open things up for this deal, however suspect it's now Felix loan or bust for January.

The glaziers are never going to allow a 100m Jan signing with the club up for sale. We probably won't even get Felix on loan if there is a mandatory purchase clause. Some of the names in here are wild. For Jan it's either some borderline has-been or hoping for a straight felix loan with no strings. Or, and this is probably becoming likely with every passing day....no Jan buy and we will have to see if a new owner splashes the cash in the pre-season.

Only Osimhen is worth it as an upgrade on Martial. Morata would be a good squad player signing. Vlahović wouldn't be better than martial but would cost over 70m. Thuram isn't better than Martial.

What do we do until the summer?

Sure we need a stop gap but we aren't made of money where we can just do endless big signings. A loan, or even a short term Morata/Memphis while letting Martial be the main guy for the next year, focus on CM with Enzo this summer, possibly diogo costa as well, and then summer 2024 go all in on a CF who fits. Osimhen isn't leaving this summer IMO. And aside from him, I'm not sure if we have a clear target or option. There aren't many strikers.

No way can we wait until summer 2024 for a number 9 not a chance in hell

i don't want a statue for a CF....i want a guy that is mobile, some pace and a bit of arrogance to him

Dion Drena Beljo of Osijek may have something. He’s 20 and is the second top scorer in the Croatian league. What’s really obvious about him is that he’s 6 foot 5! He seems fairly classy from the little I’ve seen of him. It’s about time Croatia had a good striker again. This guy may be it. I doubt he’d cost more than £10m at this stage.

It’s a moot point in a way as Martial is never fit, and even if he is we need more than one fit striker.

I am just going to put a danish name in here. We need a striker and preferably not to expensive.
Casper Tengstedt. 22 Years old. Currently plays for Rosenborg in Norway. 14 matches: 15 goals and 9 assists.
We should be able to get him very cheap. Young, firing on all cylinders at the moment and should be cheap.
Worth a punt?

I don’t watch Norwegian football, but have seen that this guy scores a lot. What type of cf is he? Strong? Fast?

Yeah, I agree. It’s not Martial the person needs to be better than, it’s 37yr old Ronaldo. I’d be happy with Thuram, Memphis or Morata to tide us over until summer when more options present themselves.

What an interesting profile he has. Looks to have the skill and technique of your stereotypical Slavic player, but a unique physical quality too in being so tall.

Would be keen to hear any Croatian football watching opinions on him, as can only watch the highlight reels, which doesn't tell us much about where he needs to work.

Felix on loan seems more likely now. Granted he is not exactly a striker that will give you the goals, but his movement might create more chances for us. Loan 6 months then splunge in the sumemr.

We need goals though.

Just not the right player. But no idea who else we could get, Depay is probably what we can afford

He is both actually. He is not fast like Rashford but isn't slow either. He is physically strong and great at keeping the ball. Very often takes on his direct target. He is also very active in the build up, allways offers himself for the ball but still manages to get himself in to scoring areas, which is why both his goal and assist numbers are great.

Thanks for the reply. Can be somewhat interesting prospect then.

it is obvious, we are not first option for any valuable player, so it must be overpayed or to found some youngster who would develop under ETH.

I rather Felix on loan than Depay man. Any deal with Depay would be a permanent transfer and I'm not sure if we want to that.

Probably not, but 10M to Barca to get him on an 18 month contract and go back into the market in 2024 isn't insane. It's not exciting, but considering Depay has 35 in his last 52 for the Dutch and 5 decent goalscoring years in a row at club level, it's probably a quiet B+ sort of solution.

I don't see Atletico letting Felix go on loan without an obligation to buy. His value could tank. They're safer selling him for 80M + incentives, now rather than letting his value drop significantly if he doesn't do well on loan or get injured. I know they say they want 130M, but with 80M recouped, they can buy 2 quality players. They have a ton of guys in their early 30s set to decline (Morata, Griezmann, Koke, Savic, Felipe, Carrasco, Witsel) so I'd be really scared to not have the money to buy some younger players up front, at LWB and a #6 to shore up the squad. They could be in huge trouble and lose their #3 in Spain status if Felix does a Dele Alli or gets hurt and they get nothing for him.

Watched Spurs-Brentford and Toney was far too good for Spurs very average backline of Tanganga-Dier-Lenglet. Mbeumo had a very sloppy game and Brentford still gave them trouble because Toney played so well. Classic CF goal for the 2nd and created the attack that led to the first with a great flick on header. He's not quick, but he's got a lot of the qualities that we're missing up top and seem to suit Ten Hag's system.

If he's planning on betting on himself scoring 20 goals for a top 4 Prem side and winning the role of Kane's backup, penalty taker in shootouts for England starter at the 2026 World Cup, he'll do a Saha and scream for Brentford to sell him with 2 years to go on his deal, which is this summer. We'd have to get a loanee in for 6 months, or pay an extra 20M and get him, but considering Brentford are in 10th and not going down but probably not making Europe either, there is a case for them to sell him at peak value in a month, ride out the season and sign his replacement from a smaller league for 20-25M after we send them 50M. They could also afford the young CB and Eriksen replacement (Damsgaard seems like he's not gonna be that guy and they might need more of a typical playmaking CM than a wider AM type, they already have Kane-Potter to start opposite Mbeumo behind a 9 when they play 3-4-2-1 or in a 4-2-3-) if they did this. Might be smart long-term planning.

Looks like a few clubs are after Felix in January but just as a loan. We’ll be competing with arsenal mainly because they need an attacker desperately to help them push for the league. Liverpool owners are selling the club and still bought a player so anyone who says we won’t buy until the club is sold need to wake up.

It's not necessarily about upgrading on Martial. It's his fitness that is the huge issue and why we need to sign somebody. Someone of a similar level (although preferably a harder worker) would be fine if they can stay fit.

@SportingCP96

hey man, what’s your opinion on Taremi of Porto?

His stats are quite good but never seen him. He is quite good at goals and assists it seems.

He isa bit old but still maybe no bad on a lower cost transfer.

Solid physical striker that gets good numbers, although he doesn't have a high ceiling. 100% not the option United should go for, not that Porto will want to part with him either.
