I don't think so, I think he just had some kind of realization that now he can stand up to Homelander when he tries to bully him like he did earlier in the episode. Only he will try and it will go badly and he'll need to be saved. If anyone full on heel turns it'll be Butcher unable to give up the power he's always hated but now seems to crave.
Does Cafe recommend this, i have already read what it's based on back in the day and didn't really like it, in fact most of the time I hate the whole superman Is evil subversive shtick these stories go for(simplifying it obviously but you get my point).

Yeah if she was going to die it would’ve been there and then. Could see that coming a mile off though with the “one more job and we’re out” trope being used.
Frenchie does not seem to have a role in the show anymore. I can see Kimiko being there for few more seasons though.

Not sure if we're supposed to continue using spoilers but from what I gathered in the fourth episode Kimiko's powers are finished for good. That's the (new?) power of Soldier Boy. If her powers were only gone temporarily then nothing can defeat Homelander.
Give it a go, the characterization is much better than in the comics. There are lots of references to the crazy times we are currently living in to keep you interested, even if you're not into superhero stories. There are times when it chooses profanity/graphic over substance, but it's all incorporated well into the fabric of the show's universe. And while sometimes they overdo it with the dark humour (truth be told, who doesn't nowadays?), when they get it right, my God, it's razor sharp. Above all, it's a superhero series that actually cares about its characters: Some change, some don't want to and others try and fail to, but they all develop. Different strengths and weaknesses and different agendas, but they all have a tipping point. And as it's getting closer, some are afraid, some feel fatalistic, some dream of escaping and some seem ready to fully embrace the oncoming abyss. As for the "evil Superman", i get what you're saying, but i can't recommend Antony Starr's performance enough. He's nailed Homelander, he's just brilliant in that role.

Thanks, I think I'll give it a go, it seems that they've taken some liberties from the source material so hopefully they glossed over some of the parts which i had gripes with.
I did not read the comics (although I did read Preacher and didn't like that adaptation)
I'm more invested in the characters than the main plot as you described it.
I'd give it a go if you like dark humour. I recall getting really drawn in halfway in the second episode. You should know by then if it's for you.
Without having read the comics there's a lot of satire on current(-ish) events that wouldn't have worked otherwise.
I really appreciate irreverent black humor if it doesn't veer too much into edginess and to be fair to ennis he can be pretty good at writing like that though unfortunately for me his snobbery gets in the way of enjoying the story
But yeah, if it's character driven I think I could just ignore the main plot and enjoy the shenanigans.

My main issue with Ennis is his reverence for the military/executive branch. He can spin some good stories out of it (the Crossed arc with Gordon Brown is a great piece of writing) but otherwise he just comes off like a youtube military expert who would worship anything in camouflage.
Himelander is playing s blinder here. Interested to see how they will overcome him.
Don't think too much about it, just watch it, I'm confident you will like it.
From what I've heard from people who have read the comics and seen this, it's a lot less edgy than the comics. If you want to avoid "superman is evil", though, this isn't for you either.

The comics are waaaay more fecked up, yeah. The two have basically nothing in common anymore bar the overall backstory and the characters. The plots are completely different. Which is probably a good thing cause there’s no way you could show some of the shit in the comics on tv.
The Pepsi Max add had me thinking. Surely they are not going there... Ok they are going there. 
Putting Frenchie and Kimiko in the promo art for season 4 kind of removes the cliff from the cliff-hanger of E4.

Which is natural i think, he’s been quite outspoken about his reverence of British military comics, he basically grew up reading them that's why he's so disdainful towards the superhero genre, he basically came to contact with them when he was old so it looked rather ridiculous to him.
He can be very interesting at times but also really heavy handed at others.
The fact that this fecker had such a prominent role in the promulgation of the whole superman but evil (watchman was one of the first to subvert it but it was much different obviously) is super ironic as well because funnily enough i think he's the only superhero that he genui loves for who he is and has written him quite respectfully as far as I remember.

That's probably a good thing, ennis can be quite a shock merchant at times just for the sake of it , he specially gone off rails when adding the filler content so its probably for the best to cut back on that sort of thing.
Anyway it seems the characters are rather fun so I'm just gonna watch it and try to ignore the parts that grind my gears.
Yeah it is natural to him, there seems to be a military intelligence expertise arc in almost all of his writings. It can go either way with him. I think the Boys is his best work really, I thoroughly disliked both the Preacher comic and series.
I don't know if you will like it if you didn't like the source material. I think the original comic is better (and its not that great, but its a good comic) and a lot of the good parts of the story are chopped. It is excellently produced though and the lad playing Homelander is born for the role.
It's his bingo card , hell i recently read his new batman comic(I think the only comic that I've read recently) and low and behold a military man in black type fella shows up right at the end.
Have you read his works on punisher and hitman? You might enjoy them more as this might sound counterintuitive but he might just be better off with some editorial oversight limiting him sometimes, his indie work can really be overindulgent at times.
Anyway my standards aren't very high so as long as the show's writing is snappy and the characters likable i think I'll begrudgingly enjoy it.
Good season so far, but Homelander is approaching the point where he’ll need a proper comeuppance/to be killed before it’s just blueballing the audience… but then the show would be half as good (if that!) without him. So it’s a tough one. Interesting to see what they do.
Think Soldier boy will take Home's powers and we will be treated to his coming to terms with the fact he is just a man now Don't think they will kill him. SB will become the new villain probably.
