The Arsenal game (September 4th)

They're a good side, not sure how you can criticise a team for just beating what's in front of them. I'm glad our defence is looking a lot more assured. We really need to be more clinical.

3-1 Two for Antony on his debut and homelander to put the icing on the cake in the 88th minute.

Want to give these guys a humbling now

To be fair to Arsenal they have had an extremely good start, they dominate games and other than the opening Crystal Palace they've deserved to win every game. What's different about Arsenal this season for me is the ability to hold on to wins and overcome adversity, last season they would have dropped points in the Fulham and Villa game because of a mistake and a freak goal.

That being said they haven't faced a team as good as us yet with the quality that we have so it will be an interesting game and looking forward to it. Injuries haven't helped them and they are lacking in terms of squad depth. I think they're a cert for top 4 especially if they can keep Jesus fit the whole season.

Time for a reality check for our favourite arch enemy.

Are Arsenal really the arch enemy of Man United? I know there was a period during the Wenger vs Fergie era when one could say that, but historically? and now? I don't think so.

I've always thought the biggest rivalry was between Man United and Liverpool, closely followed by Man United and Leeds, but if I'm wrong please enlighten me.

Then of course there is the Man City/Man United rivalry, but, again correct me if I'm wrong that is not in 'arch enemy' territory. Within families there are often Blue fans and Red fans, so the rivalry there is not quite as 'charged'. Furthermore, strangely I think with the Man United and Man City rivalry, for much of history one of the two has been the underdog going into games. During Sir Alex Ferguson's time United would be favourites, but now it will be Man City. I suppose in the late 60's perhaps (when City won a league and you won a European cup) or maybe around ten years ago when City were still getting used to, in footballing terms, winning the lottery, were both teams pretty evenly matched.

I reckon we have Liverpool, City, Leeds and Arsenal. We absolutely hate the other 3, Arsenal is just annoying. So by that metric, you are our favourite arch enemies.

That made me laugh!

Similarly, we can't stand Spurs or Chelsea - so you are our favourite arch enemies too!

Think this is going to be one of those games where it's just so important to win your individual battles.

Dalot vs Martinelli, Saka vs Malacia, Jesus vs Martinez and Odegaard vs Casemiro probably. If we can get on top in those duels, I think we can win.

I still think Arsenal are very bang average in midfield and defence, and have been on one of those runs where everything has gone their way against poor opposition. We had many of them under Ole when you're waiting for the bubble of euphoria to burst.

The two ex-City players have made a difference at Arsenal, added class and determination, that is what we have to match up and beat on Sunday, I actually think we can do it 2-0.

Even when they were pretty crap under Arteta, they always seem to have the upper hand on us. I couldn't figure out why?

Hope we beat them on Sunday. We might have the hangover of last 2 very tough games. So hope we are all ready for the battle. This is no soft touch Arsenal that is coming to OT this Sunday!

One goal conceded (and an unfortunate one vs Liverpool at that) in three games has given me much more confidence in our defence. Varane looked imperious vs Leicester and Martinez is a breath of fresh air. Malacia has hit the ground running in my opinion, while Dalot is still a bit hit and miss (but nothing too shite).

However, we NEED to be more ruthless in the final third. On top of that, we cannot afford a second half drop off in performance or for complacency to seep in. Arsenal are playing really well and we'll need to take our chances or we'll be staring at our third loss of the season. Should have been 4-0 up against Leicester, hoping Antony can replace Elanga immediately and have a similar impact on the wing as Malacia/Martinez have had in defence and Eriksen in midfield.

DDG

Dalot Varane Martinez Malacia

Casemiro Eriksen Bruno

Antony Martial (if fit, otherwise Rashford) Sancho

Ronaldo to come off the bench as a super sub. Maybe even Fred for Eriksen to shore up the midfield a bit and have the Brazilian duo do their thing.

Arsenal have creativity and some good mechanisms - I ain't gonna lie - but we have not been together as they have and we still beat them. Antony just arrived last week, Casemiro, Ronaldo didn't have a preseason - we have so much room for improvement in pressing, possession and controlling the game.

This is Arsenal's ceiling - and it's still not good enough.

Get fecked all the goonewbs that have been running their mouths off
