Congrats onenil. This is your first draft, right? Brilliant on making to a debut final.
To be fair, he's lucky to have faced an incompetent twit like me. Any decent manager would have given him a much closer game here.

Still though, good game Onenil. You are a great addition to the drafts, and I look forward to seeing you in more of these in the future.

Yeah congrats @oneniltothearsenal

Great work making the final. Don't mind the heated discussions etc as they are part and parcel of these drafts and help spice up things a wee bit. Trust me, everyone loses their cool in these drafts at least once.

Tough luck @mazhar13 @RedTiger @Marty1968. That was a brilliant side that you guys constructed with some genuinely cracking players.

Sure thing, but the answer to that isn't asking Didí to sit back!
Absolutely. Bottom line is any central midfield partnership sporting Didi + A.N. other should be going for the jugular and dictating the play.

Yup, that was my approach for the whole draft: take the initiative and control the game.

As usual, though, I just crumbled and decided to become negative to the detriment of my team. They'll sure be glad to not see me again.

Knowing Redtiger, I'm fairly certain it was a genuine reaction of disbelief as opposed to something with a more sinister connotation.

He had a similar reaction in the reserves draft, although after the match was over.

Was wrong to make that post in light of the voting arrangements in place, but I'm sure he wasn't fully aware of the implications of his statement when he made it in this thread.

In regards to that post I'm sure @RedTiger did not put that post intentionally. He was not so involved in the draft so I'm not sure he's aware of the "new voting" system.

On the other hand, you were duly tagged before each match - and could have easily told me in no uncertain terms that you were no longer an actual manager or co-manager.

@RedTiger should be renamed Mr. Magoo

@Damien

Yeah. And let's be honest - part of the fun is people losing their shit.

We can't streamline these things into something which effectively prevents meltdowns and dodgy arguments - that would...well, it would be feckin' dull.

So, that - the "can't let it become feckin' dull" factor - is pretty important when discussing format changes and whatnot.

Yes - I should take some responsibility for that, actually. You did sort of distance yourself from the thing earlier on - but I just went with that team designation throughout.

On the other hand, you were duly tagged before each match - and could have easily told me in no uncertain terms that you were no longer an actual manager or co-manager.

Looking at it pseudo-juridically, you were tagged as co-manager before making the post in question. And you didn't object to that.

Anyway, this is borderline ridiculous (south of the border, probably) - but hey, that's what I'm saying, if this sort of thing detracts from what's interesting and imporant, we need clearer rules. It ain't complicated.
You're right mate, it's definitely my fault that I didn't notify you or anyone else about me not being an assistant manager.

Apologies guys, I'll be more forthright in future.

PS, is this actually a word? "pseudo-juridically"

I think Julinho was gone as well, if he was picked at all. To be honest, I joined late and don't think there were more than 2-3 right wingers left in the draft when I said that so it wasn't the boldest of claims.

I had Julinho :(

To be fair, he handed you your arse on a plate fair and square would be more accurate.

It sounds like bullshit. Literally.

It can't literally sound like bullshit. Unless, I suppose, the words sound like a bull shitting in your ear.

We all hope - of course - that a bull is shitting in your ear right now, but it's probably not the case. Literally.

You can use pseudo for anything, in case you didn't know.

Example: Rojo is a pseudo-footballer.

Meaning: He isn't really a footballer but we'll consider him as such for whatever purpose. *

* What the purpose actually is in his case is unclear.

OK smart arse, it reads like bullshit.

Pseudo: not real or genuine
Juridically: in a juridical manner

Put them together: A ruling based on not real or genuine juridical grounds aka bullshit

Edit: remarkable pseudo-linguistics Chester, I put pseudo juridically into google and the first hit is your post

That's what they pay me for, man.

Literally. The problem is that they insist on paying me in pseudo-dollars.

I love the Brazil '82 remake and I think in many ways it's been improved upon here - ultimately the biggest issue was a poor defence but Domingos / Montero is rock solid.

Tactically I thought @oneniltothearsenal was spot on in this thread and more than held his own against a number of over the top criticisms.

I've just read the whole thread. Great game really.

Tactical considerations have to be the essence of a game: presentation of the strategy, confrontation of the strategies, 1vs1 battles...

However, I'm well-positioned to say that ridiculous arguments are part of the game. A game is like a televised political debate: some serious (biased) stats & topics, rhetoric and propaganda.

Of course, Brazil didn't play Italy here but we could say this game was the opportunity to speak about the History of the Game: WC 1982, Brazil 82, Zona Mista...

For the future drafts, you could discuss new formal rules like

- The managers should not vote on their own games
- No comments regarding the poll in order not to influence the voters & discourage a manager. Maybe you do remember the game of @ctp who has give up very early and didn't make a single post.
- To be specified the role of the AM during the game & the drafting process

It would be unfair to blame a manager for doing something (active participaton during a game, comments regarding the poll...) if the rule is unclear or missing.

Mazhar/Marty/redtiger/antohan Quite the team here.

@mazhar13 at the moment (@antohan is the guy with the glasses shouting the team instructions)

Class post. Yeah, he's the welcome for the next drafts

Aye I'm not big fan with changes midway through as well.

The same

As a spectator I'd vote to open the final reinforcement up to the whole pool, as I think the final teams will be more interesting. Plus given its an All-Time South American draft I'm in favour of a few more of the top boys featuring.

I can see it both ways though.

I agree with you. An open pool from the SF would be a great idea IMO

I had Julinho :(

:(:nervous: I hope you will participate a future draft.

The same applies for @Theon @Invictus @VivaJanuzaj & co
