Super Tsonga. Shame for the GOAT but Tsonga was on another level. Never seen Fed miss so many overheads in my life.

Let's hope Tsonga can save tennis and beat Ferrer.

Happy for Tsonga and French Tennis. Ferrer will be harder to beat he is gritty and he is a fighter it is great that either gets to reach the final. Nice to see a new face.

Im just hoping for Haas to bring down Nole... that would be nice. But is safe to say that Rafa will win RG comfortably.

Not safe at all, Rafa has looked more shaky here than ever before, and rightly so. Djokovic looks like a man on a mission, and I reckon he will wipe the floor with him. He doesn't looke the same since he did his knee in (Nadal).

What French Open have you been watching? This is the worst Nadal has looked on clay in his entire career, not even remotely playing like the best claycourt player in tennis right now. Unless he's been purposefully playing below par and will pull out some mystery form from somewhere against Djokovic- he'll get dismantled and it won't be pretty, if the four matches he's played so far are anything to go by. And this is coming from someone who likes him.

The Vulture is through, losing just 4 games. That's damn impressive.

Do you by any chance post on Menstennisforums.com?:smirk:

I do occasionally, but you can't tell me there's anything watchable about Ferrer's game. It's a topic of almost constant debate on there. He is the Vulture because he takes part in loads of smaller events like the 250's to win them where the field is weaker, to maintain his ranking. Combined with his style of play, he's as close to anti-tennis as you can get. Players like Tsonga, Federer, Gasquet, Monfils, Llodra, Wawrinka, this is real tennis in my eyes.

Ferrer's recent slam record from the start of 2012 reads QF, SF, QF, SF, SF. That's brilliant consistency and he totally deserves his ranking. Beats everyone except from the very top guys. I also want Tsonga to win as I don't feel Ferrer has much chance at all of beating Nadal or Djokovic in the final with his record against them.

Came into this kind of expecting Tsonga to win........I don't even know why, his record is 3(one a walkover)-9 vs Fed.....it's not even lopsided be old matches either.

Last two grand slam matches went the distance though....

My money was on Tsonga, he's just better on clay than Federer, and not be #1 seems to affect Federer.

The record may have to do with what surfaces they have met on?

Federere will do well to win a good grand slam again I just like watching him play because he plays the best technical tennis in the world still. He is like an old master out there he may turn in the virtuoso performance's like Zidane at world cup 2010 but his best days are behind him, now anyone in the top 10 can get him.

I was wondering who the vulture was. It would be good to see a French man in the final but it is really Djokovic's to lose. Nadal's knee will never be 100% again i'm afraid he is a fantastic competitor though but his style was always going to lead to trouble later in his career. I would like to see Tsonga do it but I think it is Djokovic's title.

He really is not, if you mean in better form, then maybe. Tsonga was just really good in this match and Federer was awful. But for Nadal, Federer would probably be remembered as a really good claycourt player and he's the 2nd best claycourt player of this era, Tsonga will probably never come close to having 4 finals and one title at a clay slam(I think he's 28 already).

All QF's went as expected. I still back Rafa to beat Djokovic, but only just. There's really nothing in it right now between them and obviously whoever wins this has basically won the title, barring any physical fatigue which could actually be a factor.

Even if Ferrer wins, then Rafa will hand him his arse in 3 sets like he always does. Has to be Tsonga to get through, just to make things interesting. At least Tsonga would mix his play up and try things, unlike Ferrer who just stands at the baseline like a mug whatever the score, getting pummelled as Rafa hands him his arse.

The record doesn't have much to do with it, neither does whether JWT is better than Fed on clay. Federer is in a decline, it's as simple as that. He's not exactly falling off the scene, he's still doing well in tournaments and if it wasn't for Rafa, the greatest player ever to step foot on a clay court, Fed would have 3 or 4 more French Opens himself.

Overall I'd be very surprised if Federer ever won another Slam, but you can never rule him out at Wimbledon, it's always his best chance and he's a genius on the grass.

I agree he just in decline now and Djokovic and even Nadal, maybe Murray are all definitely better than him. I also would be surprised if he won another grand slam. Amazing career, amazing player we are watching his swansong.

He could, but lots of things will probably have to fall into place. I'd be very surprised if he wins a slam by defeating either Murray, Nadal or Djokovic though, I think they all have the edge over him now.

The crowd will definitely play a part if it's a Nadal-Tsonga final. The French for whatever don't seem like they ever fully warmed up to Nadal, so they'll probably almost all be behind Tsonga.

Federer's been in decline for like 5 years......greatness rolls through every now and then(mostly against Djokovic who he matches up the best with out of the top 4).

I also still think, despite him having more Wimbledons, US Open is where his best stuff was played, how he bottled it two years in a row vs Djoko there I'll never know, though karma I guess for his insane victories against Djoko at the French and Wimbledon....neither of which Djoko played up to his standards in. Equals out I guess. I think it's there where he'll go all out this year, he does love Flushing Meadows. Needs an awful lot of luck to win the first two slams of the year again.

Shit's gonna get real soon now, Djokovic to win!

Match over? Real shame, could have been a great five-setter had Djokovic not gotten injured.

Djokovic has some nerves. You can see how he gets into Nadal head. He should have won this set.

Unbelievable stuff from djokovic. Nadal twice a break up and even served for the match, djokovic looked lost, comes back twice and wins the fourth set tiebreak.

Someone needs to check whatever Djokovic is chewing on. Cannot be plain energy gels.

Can't believe insane rules in sports sometimes.......kinda killed that. Hope Djoko stays in it. Brutal way to lose otherwise, nothing he can do about it though as he pretty much accepted with fairly little fuss.

Does Nadal truly need this luck? That shot was the fluke of his career and he knew it.

So you would like an exception for dear Djokovic? :(

No surprise how good this match is and has become. Two legendary players already.

How the hell does Nadal still have the legs to carry on? And Djokovic, he look spent after the third. Amazing mental tenacity from both players.

I said that? No. Stop seeing things that aren't there.

I said it's an insane rule. But a rules a rule, he accepted it, I accept it. But it killed it a bit. I'd feel the same if it happen to Nadal, I just like a good even game.
