Medvedev's serving really has kept him in this match at times. Very high 1st serve %

I wish I had a clear favourite. I almost can't decide. They should both win.
Nadal for me. I like Medvedev but he will have plenty of chances to come. We should savour every last one of Nadal’s last tournaments.

This is what I’d consider my era of Tennis and I was always on team Federer for his sheer class as a human and the fact he’s arguably the most elegant and ascetically beautiful player to play the game. As such I always saw Nadal as the opposition.

I’m fully behind him here though, it’s impossible not to love him too.

Same for me, I always liked tennis as my third sport - but during the era of Federer, Djokovic, Nadal and Murray - the sport went up another level.

Even though Federer for example was my opposition too - I couldn't ever hate these players. They just do the sport to perfection.

Medvedevs serve returning is huge for him, also seems to make some sensible decisions again. This will be a good 5th set.

Nadal is an alien, there’s no other explanation as to how he’s still hitting this well after this ordeal of a match so far.

Medvedev's head is completely gone, he's swinging the racket like a club now.

Would have hoped his previous GS win would have grounded him a bit, but maybe Nadal is in his head.

Huge break in the fifth. Come on Rafa.

Could be decisive, he hasn't been troubled in his serve so far this set. Still, this feels like a game that will always have another twist.

Nadal winning every rally now. Outside of his serve not really much that speaks for Medvedev now.

It seems over, Medvedev doesn't have the power left to win rallies.

Edit: Medvedev wins rally.

Up a break in a fifth set in an Australian Open Final is just traumatic memories

It's mental far more than physical - Nadal has been here plenty of times, Medvedev hasn't beaten him in 5, and he's always good value for a meltdown.

Experience shining through here.

It's more physical imo. The fact Medvedev chose to play lot of drop shots all of sudden is a sign. He knew he's tired and didn't want to stay on long rallies.
