Even with a break in hand, I think Nadal should be happy enough with a tiebreak here. Win that and the momentum is well and truly his.
Nadal is awful in tie breakers vs top players. He can't afford got this to go to another one.

Medvedevs tennis when facing and trying drop shots is hilarious. He's finished imo. Nadals got him.

Too early to say Medvedev is finished, it’ll go 2-2 and he will take a break

/huge hold from Nadal there. Lets get that fifth set and have this match become legendary.

Pretty much break points every single game. I struggle to recall seeing anything like this in a men's GS final.

Danlil still loves that FINISH IT jump shot doesn't he? Even when he has zero need to do it... nor will it bother Nadal mentally, but maybe it'll boost his own mental confidence, I dunno.

Bonkers game so far.

If Medvedev loses here he's going to tell the crowd to get fecked. Maybe if he wins as well..

The most anxious viewer right now is Djokovic.

Amazing! Win or lose.. no one can fight like Rafa! Djoko must be consulting with some voodo magicians now

I didn't expect Medvedev to be the one who looks more tired than Rafa. Both are forced to play drop shot due to fatigue but Rafa did it better.

At the US open djoko was 2-0 down crying into his towel. Rafa fights back to 2-2, come on Rafa you’re so close!

4 hours and 12 minutes before the fifth set has started. Huge respect to Rafa for grinding this out of nowhere. He looked dead and buried after spurning those chances in the second. Still edging towards Medvedev but very hard to call now.

Say what you will, Nadal having a permanent foot injury, out for 6 months, unable to train, having Covid before arriving, getting heat stroke against Shapovalov and now playing 4 hours, possibly 5 against Medvedev, never giving up despite being 2 sets down.

At 35 years old.

Wow.

Bizarre match but very entertaining.
Rafa on the up now obviously but still feels like if Medvedev sorts his nonsense out it could be his game, but I am not sure he is capable of doing this at the moment.

Has a bit of Djokovic - Thiem in the 2020 final vibes for me where I also felt Nole went from genius to baffling decisions all the time and struggled with himself emotionally. That game also went to 5 and Djokovic got his shit together in the last set.

I don't think I have the nerves to watch this final set. This Slam has given us Rafa fans too many fifth set heartbreaks.

Nadal is my favourite of all time

This is what I’d consider my era of Tennis and I was always on team Federer for his sheer class as a human and the fact he’s arguably the most elegant and ascetically beautiful player to play the game. As such I always saw Nadal as the opposition.

I’m fully behind him here though, it’s impossible not to love him too.
