Tennis 2019

I think Tsonga was and is a bigger threat in R3 than Shapovalov. Not sure who is in Thiem's quarter though apart from Querrey who beat him. At the moment I think it's still a very tricky draw but things can change.

Maybe Tsonga from a few years ago. Now he’s over the hill and Nadal shouldn’t have any problems if he’s on his game.

I wouldn't expect Tsonga to beat him should he make it but it could be a tricky match, especially in the third round.

Sharapova and Thiem already out. Nadal faces Kyrgios next. So that nightmare draw on paper could look better if Nadal beats Kyrgios.
Tsonga is probably the tougher test than Shapo anyway and there's still Cilic in R4. Thiem was never going to get to the QF. It's pretty much unchanged and on grass, Querry (doubt he'll make it that far) would be a bigger challenge than Thiem in all probability.

He came close to beating Federer at Halle just 2 weeks ago. He's definitely a tough challenge if Rafa makes it that far.

Do US tennis academies feed all their prospects massive amount of growth hormones and only practise serving? American men in tennis are all interchangable giants with a massive serve and suspecte else.

Opelka knocks Stan out. Not a huge shock for me as the guy is even taller than Isner

Stan continues to be rubbish on grass. Anderson, Raonic and Opelka are in the same quarter. It's a good thing they've introduced a 12-12 cap in the final set this year

Whatever Stan does next, I think he got the absolute maximum out of his career. Winning two majors in this era is no small feat.

looks like it's going to be be one of the most comfortable Djokovic GS wins in his career. his path to the final is clear.

Breaks to love. Future of women’s tennis right here folks.

Rybarikova is absolute gash tbh. Looks so so weak, her shot selection is also terrible.

Gauff is playing well though, can only beat what is Infront of her.

Her backhand reminds me of Murray but even more offensive.

Gauff has Hercog next. I don't know anything about Hercog but looking up her record on Wikipedia, it seems a very winnable match for Gauff.

Edmund threw it away. He was leading two sets and 3-1 in the third before his “injury”.

Djokovic really isn't doing himself any favours with the Gimelstob stuff today and in the press conference this evening.

No idea why Djokovic is defending the guy. Gimelstob shouldn’t be anywhere near tennis after his disgusting actions.

Djokovic wants to be liked. But stuff like this is why he isn’t.

Suddenly Nadal's draw doesn't look tough at all does it?

Cilic is way out of form, Kyrgios is 3-5 at GS, Masters this year and Thiem is out as the highest ranked player in his quarter.

Not going to matter once Nick beats him with 50 aces and 30 winners in 4 sets.
Also Tsonga and Nick back to back is still far worse than anything Federer has and tougher than Novak's draw as well.
If Cilic goes out though then the toughest R4 will be for Novak.

There's a reason why bookies favor heavily Nadal today. Kyrgios continues to wast his talent since 2014. He's a headcase and normally if Nadal is at his usual self he should win the match.

Also Cilic if anyone has watched him this year is pretty poor. He's 2 sets down to Joao Sousa who is a clay courter and past the 1st round at Wimbey for second time in his career. Usual Cilic also would smoke him and has 4-0 h2h against him. He hasn't lost a set to him in his career so far.

No matter how much of a head case Nick is, he's always going to be a hugely difficult match for any of the Top 3. He's only fired up when he plays the big guys and I think we'll see that again today. Plus he's also beaten Rafa already this season and now we're on grass where Nick can most definitely blow away anyone on his day. If Nadal can find a way to win today, he should make the semis.

Sousa is quite a solid tennis player tbh, but he lacks mental strength. He had enough quality to be a top 15-20 during his career, but he seems to break unexpectedly. His final @Auckland vs Jack Sock a couple of years ago was a great example, where he played a much better overall game but didn't capitalize.

Not to mention how he goes from MP to loose the match for several times.

Kyrgios is very temperamental. If he starts the match well, he might give Nadal a run for the money. If he makes a bad start he will probably go downhill.

Yeah the first set is crucial for Nadal. If he wins it, I'd back him to go through but if Nick wins, he'll just go to a higher level. I don't see him tanking vs Rafa.

He's your typical solid clay courter who also translates his game on hard. Isn't really capable of competing at the highest level and against top 10 players for a sustained period, especially on grass. In a slam he doesn't have the mental edge as you said to trouble top dogs.

Generally agree with your view, but really surprised with Cilic who should be able to sweep him aside.
