I suspect Federer won't get a set here, which would suggest it wasn't a great match, but this is actually fun. Federer isn't letting him have it all his own way, albeit my gut feeling is that Nadal will turn the screw in the next half an hour or so. Though, as I type that, Federer breaks.

Rafa got lucky with how poor a smash that was from Federer but super passing shot. Needs to hold now and then put pressure on Fed when serves into the wind.
Yeah Djoko doesn't handle these conditions well. Think he'll struggle more than Theim.

There's such a massive difference between points on Fed's forehand (competitive) and backhand (inevitable Rafa winner or Fed error).
I actually think Feds backhand has been very good despite the wind. I was not expecting it to do this well in these conditions.
All in all, much more competitive than plenty of you thought?
Not really so far. I get that each game has tension in the first but Nadal has won 3 more games in the first set - it has always been like that in their meetings on clay(minus some exceptins). Federer has been competitive, yet always more often than not loses the set.
Yes. Really pleased to see Rog playing well on this surface against Rafa It might not seem so but he has done well.
I'm hoping he keeps this level up for the grass season as he would have a great chance at Wimby in my opinion.

Just feels Rafa is so passive on Fed's serve now. When he was a break down he went after it.

Novak's game is formulaic, very efficient and extremely effective, but I just can't get excited. Thiem and Nadal have had some good match ups lately as well.
