Tennis 2019

I don’t know what the story is and it could be innocent, but she doesn’t seem to help herself at times

Amazing mens matches all around while the Top 3 yet again face unseeded players.

Tsitsipas Stan
Fognini Zverev
Thiem Monfils

Federer reaching the quarter finals without losing a set would be very impressive regardless of the opposition.

He would definitely prefer to avoid playing Nadal in the semis though.

She’s always got a big ego. No idea why so many people defend her, she’s a cnut.

Playing either against Wawrinka or Tsitsipas in the quarters will be very tough. Not sure about his level on clay as these four matches so far are against inferior opposition.

I'd wager he can make 1-2 great matches, but against Nadal after a tough QF' would hinder him a lot.

He’s not beating Nadal on RG’s clay regardless so a great QF would be a success after 3 years off the surface.

Yeah, indeed.

He'd won't be the favorite in the QF as well, looking at both Tsitsipas and Wawrinka and considering his lack of match practice on clay at that stage and also his age.

Still racking up a QF at RG is great achievement at his age.

I think given the players he's faced it would be more concerning if he had dropped a set. Same applies to Djokovic.

It would be quite the upset if he'd dropped a set against the kind of player he's had to face. Same as with Djoko and same with Rafa in R1, 2 and 4.

Think he'll get past Stan in the QF though. The guy struggles to get a read on Dimitrov and Tsitsipas' serves. Lord knows what he'll do vs Federer

I see him beating Stan. He'd probably struggle a bit against Tsitsipas though.

Stan is playing pretty good tennis right now and beat him in the same stage 3 years ago. Federer is no doubt in a better state than in 2015 but if both Tsitsipas and Stan doesn't tire themselves out in a grueling five setter unfortunately I can't see him beating either.

A nearly 38 year old has again cruised into the quarters of a grand slam tennis tournament. How does he do it.

Fantastic match so far between Tsitsipas and Stan. Easily match of the tournament so far!

Class match this between Stan the Man and Tsitsipas.

Tsitsipas serving to stay in this third set.

Set point for Stan

Tsitsipas holds on but Stan to serve for the set.

Very interesting match and very long! Both of these will be shattered for the quarter finals.

Not having to play a top 50 players make it a lot easier to be fair

Cannot believe they put this on SL while Rafa and Federer playing absolute nobodies got to be on Chatrier. Who makes these schedules?!

The 38 year old is ranked #3 in the world and has played Ruud, Otte, Mayer and Sonego. That should explain it. A 42 year old Federer would get through that draw here

Tsitsipas is just not good enough in the biggest moments. He's had countless opportunities to break and he just can't take them. 5 again in this set.

The top dogs always play on Chatrier. With only 4 games on the men side - no way you can make different schedule, regardless on the quality of the matches itself.

Doubt any further match will better this one - it’s how good it is.

If anything RG is one Slam where they make all the top players Atleast one match off PC. Rafa and Federer have played their one match off it but today neither of their matches deserved to be there.
I think pretty much everyone expected this match to be top top class.

Even tomorrow, Fognini Zverev and Monfils Theim are games that ought to be at PC but they'll put Djokovic there.

Sounds like a once in a lifetime sort of player since no other 38 year old would be coming even close to what he's doing in the present. Most players are several years into retirement at this point.

Agreed but that match always comes earlier than 1/8 finals.

Yup.
Fognini / Zverev should be a cracker, though.

Thiem should win in straights against Monfils. Despite struggles in past rounds.

Tsitsipas should avoid coming to the net. His approaches are bad and his volleys even worse.

Yup fair enough.
The point I was debating was your surprise that he's cruised into the QF here. With how easy his draw has been, it would be quite the surprise if he dropped a set at all.

Yup it’s an area that he can improve on.

On the other hand Stan should come to the net more often on first serve. Tsitsipas returns waaay too deep. Almost Nadal like.

Stan is honestly not even playing that well right now. Tsitsipas hit 5 forehand errors in this game and all were avoidable. 0/8 on BP in this set and 5/27 in the match. Awful numbers.

What a way to win for Stan!

Unbelievable. Tsisitpas had so many chances to win this set, but gave it away.

Zero surprise that Tsitsipas couldn't manage to save the break points. If you can miss so many BP in a final set you're not going to win.

Poor judgement that. Would possibly pin it down to inexperience along with the other missed Bps in the 5th. Stan just pulled it through.
