Nadal stopped consistently targeting the DelPo bh and its paid dividends. Nadal's forehand has done major damage this set.

1st set - peak Del Potro
2nd set - inconsistent Del Potro
3rd set - ???

Delpo needs to not lose this game. Doesn't want Nadal to serve first in the third set and possibly carry the momentum.

Delpo needs to be careful not to capitulate mentally, otherwise Rafa will run away with things in a hurry.

FFS 6-0

This tells me that Federer was really sub par against Del Potro. He can be devastating when he's in a red hot streak but over 5 sets he really shouldn't beat a top top player.

Stats after 2 sets: Note the winners to unforced errors for both.

Yesss! Bagel against Delpo :wow:
Most importantly, serving first in the 3rd. Hope he can keep up the momentum.
Biggest change from the 1st set was Nadal hitting it everywhere and making DelPo running. The "tactic" of only hitting to his BH was not working at all. DelPo's 1st serve percent has really dropped though which has helped Nadal.

Lets wait till the match ends before we talk that way about Del Po. He's just taken out Thiem and Fed.

Thiem is average and Federer was average on the day (and yet had 4 set points to go up 2 sets to 1).

Vamos. Great stuff from Rafa in this set. Backhand looking in very good form toom

Not Delpos fault. He was only guy to beat Federer in a grandslam this year and he had to play well to do that.

He was two sets behind and close to retiring against Thiem. Give him credit for that atleast.

Ughhh. Should have gotten the double break here. Could be a shift back in momentum now...

Oh yeah, he's done brilliantly in both matches, for sure. I'm saying that he's not actually that good a player. I reckon Federer made him look a much better player the other day by playing well below his normal level, and missing set points.

Del Potro is a brilliant player for me. Would be on four grand slams atleast if it wasn't for injuries. You also have to remember he ended Federers US open run in 2009 at the age of 20. Was the first guy to beat Nadal and Federer back to back. Thats no mean feat. Djokovic and Murray couldn't do that back then.

All he needs is 12 months without any injuries and he could be a threat for grandslams.

Delpo could use a bit of help from the Argie full kit wankers in row Z at this point.
Seems to be working. The cheering at those 2 BP down, he's looked better since then. He's definitely halted the complete momentum shift.

Shocking game from Nadal. Really should have broken there. That drop shot miss might be costly
