Tennis 2015

Straight sets victory for Stan. They were saying the first time he's beaten Federer in a Grand Slam. Wawrinka was brilliant, credit to him.

Tennis desperately needs someone like Nishikori to step up big time or we are looking at Nole dominating & winning about 5-6 of the next 7 slams. Nishikori incredibly is the only player in quarters who is younger than Nole and even he is 25 so unless something crazy happens we are going to have a really one sided period coming up

not so easy, though not that I can stand the thought of him entering the all-time greatest debate

While I agree that it won't be easy but you just have to look at the kind of domination he is enjoying right now, he is 4000 points ahead of the second placed Federer in the Atp rankings. Frankly it's hard to see Roger winning another slam and I love Rafa but his confidence is a bit shot so it can really go either way. Murray and Stan seem to be the only ones who can stop him

I wouldn't go that far. Murray can beat Djokovic on his day and they both the same age.

Wawrinka and Cilic have beaten Djokovic on route to winning slams last year. I wish Del Potro was fit. Such a shame because he would have had a few more slams.

Today just confirmed that Federer just can't cope physically with the demands of a grand slam. He can win the masters or get to the finals in them because they two sets or three sets max.

Kei did the dirty work eliminating Novak. real pity about del Potro, and Murray needs someone like Lendl for a kick in the s
Yeah Cilic's win was a real one off fluke tbh, he is barely ever made another slam or Masters 1000 semi final let alone win big.

Don't really agree with this. Just look at the slam winners last year. Murray is still a top player and hopefully Nadal can regain his form and stay injury free for the next few years. Hopefully some of the younger players step up but I don't think it's a major concern if they don't just yet.

what should be the breakthru age for those young guns now? perception has been skewed since the turn of the century by some of the all-time greatest

Pfttt, that's a good question. Who knows. I always here commentators say how this is a pretty special era for tennis, maybe I'm taking it for granted because it's all I've known.

Again I was going to say something similar, Kei seems to be the best of the next lot and he is yet to achieve much at 25.

Tennis has changed now. You look at the players in the past and a lot of them retired at 30 or thereabouts. Now a lot of players around that age are enjoying success.

Look at the age of the last 8 in the quarter finals. I see Krygios out of all the so called young players winning a slam. Not a big fan of Nishikori, Raionic or Dimitrov.

Tomorrow will be massive in how this year goes forward for Nole, he has played the first 5 months at an incredible level winning pretty much every big event that he has played in but this is the one he desperately wants. Hope Rafa can do something special

2011 again, but I'm much more pessimistic this time

I hope so too. What would be your prediction for tomorrow? I'm thinking either Rafa in 5 or Novak in 4.

It's so hard to predict, Rafa needs to start well because he is really down on confidence and will find it incredibly hard against Novak to come from behind.

It is Rafa's birthday today too! Going to be cracker of a match. Djoker in 4 I say. About time he completes career slam!!

Which bookie lets me bet on what score Djoko will suddenly have broken his leg or shoulder for 3 games?

And how much extra will they pay out if I make the OMG U CRAYZAY bet on that he will perform a miraculous comeback and win afterwards?

I'm going for Novak in four nervy sets, something like 6-4 7-5 5-7 7-6. Hope it lives up to the hype.

Djokovic will dominate this match and this entire year. He might just get the Grand Slam. With the old powerhouses (Federer and Nadal) waning visibly, I can't see anyone to challenge him. At least not over 5 sets.

Murray doesn't have it, the other contemporaries of that otherwise pretty weak era (Berdych, Tsonga)don't have, and the younger generation still lacks a talent that could really show greatness.
This is Djokovic's time to dominate for the next 2 years.

Nah.

Nadal winning 0% of his 2nd serve's. That says it all.

He's only ever had one multi slam year... I agree he's miles ahead of the rest at the minute, but he was last year as well and only won one slam.
