Tennis 2015

It's doable I guess, but very very tricky... I think he's got a good chance of tying Sampras, but Federer is just out of reach. The good news for him is that Federer isn't really a threat in BO5 (apart from maybe Wimbledon), Murray's not the player he was two years ago and Nadal is only really a threat on clay these days, and no one else is really breaking through into that group yet. But not even prime Federer managed three slams in three consecutive years. And Djokovic will be 30 in three years time - he'll still be a contender then I imagine, but he won't be the same player he is now.

I wonder if Djokovic will have to start sacrificing some of the Masters and inevitably his No1 spot and try focus on the Majors only. He did improve his game a lot and plays more efficient thus not wasting too much energy, but still I wonder as you say how his body will cope with all this in a few years. If he manages to maintain the level of play that Federer has at the moment at the age of 33, I think he will be able to surpass him. I'd say Australian and US Open are 'guaranteed' GS's for Djokovic, Wimbledon and finally Roland Garros being the trickiest...

Djokovic is far too suspect to losing to big hitters on hot days to call the US a "guaranteed" win. Australia yes, because he's the fittest, and it seems only Wawrinka is close there. But at the end of the season, the US is wide open.

If he wins the French, I think he'll go out all out for the year slam, which he should, just use any other tournaments between that and the Wimbledon-US as tune ups.

You get some amount of crap on forums - But that is spot on imo.

I will say one thing - He may not be the fittest, but his fitness is obviously better in some departments then others like Murray, Nadal, Stan. French is a ball toss as to who wins this year

Nadal's only 700 points ahead of Raonic in 6th too, and defending quite a lot of points up until May. Could even end up with the possibility of a Nadal-Djokovic quarter final if Nadal has a bad run at Miami, Madrid and Rome...

Actually Nadal can gain points.

But he has to win Madrid and reach the final of Miami.

He got knocked out of Monte Carlo and Barcelona in the quarters. He also lost in the final of Rome last year. People thought last year he would lose the French. Because usually he won atleast 3 out the 4 tournaments before the French on clay.

He was lucky to win Madrid as well last year as Nishikori won the first set and then got injured.

Id say Wimbledon too unless Federer makes to the final. The problem with Federer is he usually loses to someone he's beaten 10 times in a row in grand slams. But he'd beat them in the shorter tournaments, where it's three sets.

So that's why I'd put Djokovic as favourite for Wimbledon.

He also has beaten Murray like 9 out of the last 10 times. And at the moment Murray has no answer for him.

Wouldn't you put Djokovic as the favourite for the simply reason he's the current holder, most in form and best all round player... Rather than a 33 year old Federer losing to players he's beaten...

He's so favoured to win next years Australian Open, his twin brother Noval is second favourite.

For me Djokovic is already one of the greats, a better all round and all court player than Nadal was or is, even though Nadal is well ahead in majors won. His 2011 tennis year was one of the best ever.

Yep another pathetic last set from Murray against Djokovic

I don't want bring up again the Lendl discussion but a bagel against Djokovic would have happened only once under Lendl....but now two bagels against Djokovic in the space of 2 months is unacceptable.
Mauresmo is surely a good coach but i don't have the feeling she can bring the best out of Murray.
Murray and Lendl were the perfect combination.

Murray fluctuates too much in these big matches. A 0-6 set in a final (twice now) is just unacceptable considering you are supposed to be similar in ability.

So Mauresmo is pregnant. I think Björkman will be soon Murray's full-time coach.
or not
The newly married Andy Murray will fly out to Barcelona within the next 72 hours to begin his preparations for the clay court season.
But Murray's prospective new assistant coach Jonas Bjorkman won't be able to join him for at least another week, as the 43 year old has made it through to this weekend's semi-final of Sweden's version of Strictly.
Like said Lendl was the best coach for Murray

Nadal loses yet again to Djoko at Monte Carlo. Nadal didn't play badly but typically bottled the big points in game 7 in both sets. It's been a constant theme for Nadal over the last year now. He's just totally lost his bottle on big points and in tie breaks.

Fognini beats Nadal. Despite Fognini doing his best to throw away that tie break.

Nadal broke him 3 times in the second set and still lost. Mentally, I have never seen Rafa like this.

Nadal had 3 breaks, served for the set and still couldn't close it out and it's not even anything surprising anymore. Time and time again over the last year he's been incapable of closing out matches and sets. He's become the biggest bottler among the top 5 or so. I honestly have zero hope for Rafa for RG this time. He's really hit rock bottom. Losing two matches in a row in a year to Fognini on clay is just embarrassing.

Don't think Djokovic will get a better chance to win his RG title.

Yup. Really don't want to jinx it but Djokovic should finally win it this time. It will also complete career slam for him.

If he doesn't change during Rome or Madrid, I see him going out early in the French. That's how poor he has been.

I don't think he should get rid of Uncle Toni. But he should do what Djokovic did with Becker and hire somebody to give him some fresh ideas.

Rafa was slightly back to his best against Berdych today.

I wonder if Djokovic regrets skipping Madrid as it allows Nadal to gain confidence and win a title.

Hoping for a Murray win as we haven't seen him against Nadal for a long time.

Djokovic against Nadal is always 140% his usual beast mode, so no problem regretting. That will push both of them

Nadal vs Murray starting for those interested.

Think Nadal will edge it, but wouldn't surprise me if Murray wins.

Looks like Murray will get his first ever win vs Nadal on clay. I'm a Nadal guy but his form this year has been patchy to say the least. I'd fancy Djokovic to get his first French Open this year.

Difficult to see Nadal winning at RG this year. Even him being all time best on Clay, if he wins this time, it will be almost a miracle and his greatest slam yet. For Nadal, nothing is impossible though.
