ten Hag presser v S'hampton 1:30pm bst

A bad Achilles injury can take up to 6 months recovery time. How serious is the Martial injury?

Good to see Erik continue to take no nonsense in these press conferences, sooner or later the woeful UK journalists will realise who's boss. As for Cotterill goodbye and don't let the door hit you on the way out.

He said hopefully fit for the next game - what the hell injury could that be to an Achilles

This sounds about right for Martial. :D
"Achilles tendinitis most commonly occurs in runners who have suddenly increased the intensity or duration of their runs."

Frustrating, Martial is really important to our hold up play.

He can't be that important bearing in mind we loaned him out the whole of last season, and he's played half a league game this one? Can he?

It's not his fault getting injured, but it is classic Martial unfortunately.

Let's hope it's just a sore achilles rather than some sort of rupture though obviously! If it's just sore it could be a game or 2.

How does last season have any bearing on this one as we've got a totally new manager that could view Martial differently? Think about it. He wasn't fit for the first game, hence why he didn't start that one either.

It sounds like a strain, not a break, in which case it should be a week or so hopefully. If it's serious then it's 6 to 8 months.

Remember the days when a player got a cruciate knee ligament damage and you feared the worst for their career? Well those days are over, modern practices mean players can recover from that injury fairly well now without being hampered too much, however an achilles break, see Callum Hudson-Odoi, is the new cruciate. You do that in and you lose your pace and mobility. Martial really doesn't have those attributes to lose.

I don't think it's a torn achilles. If ETH said that hopefully he'll be back by next game it means it's probably a strain.

1-3 weeks depending on the severity.

Ok so that in mind, how can be considered important to our play when he's shown nothing so far this season?
Unless you're counting a couple of friendlies when we played teams who were clearly a week or 2 behind us fitness wise?

Don't get me wrong, I'd love an epic return for Martial.

Oh wow, I'd scan read the cafe and assumed it was something bad!
Not just a sore leg!

That's great though - if he's back asap.

Ten Hag completely blanked Gary Cotterill's questions during the presser. Refused to acknowledge him or respond to his questions.
Love it. Don't play their game ETH. They write whatever they like anyway

He tweeted this after we were beaten by Brentford. Unprofessional moron.

The glorious irony is this utter dolt has this as his tagline

"it’s international say something positive day."

You couldn't make it up.

Take it you didn't watch the Liverpool match then :wenger: what a weird hill to die on.

Martial out is a massive blow
This is why we need Antony ASAP. Not that there similar style but it gives us more quality. I can’t think of any other player that’s quick and as good hold up play like martial. Normally the target men are the ones that do the holding up and usually slow.

Who's talking about pre-season? No one takes that seriously. He was great when he came on, clearly, and it's a shame he's hurt, when I want the whole squad to have some positive momentum. I've zero faith in him in the long, short or medium term, for numerous reasons. I gave up on him years ago in truth. Still think it's shit he's hurt again when he showed what he can do when he's in the mood on Monday night.

Well he’s only just back from being “a few days out” so it’s far from unlikely that this is the same niggle recurring. And a niggly Achilles can linger for months.

The injury that kept him out for the first 2 games was a hamstring. This one seems to have come from a knock since he expects him back next game.

Has Ronaldo merited starting? I don't think so. I'd start the same 3 that started against dippers.
Not really, I'd have no complaints if Elanga starts but just think Rashford is better on the left and Ronaldo is the only fit striker so as long as he's here we might as well use him

Serious question, is there another club that has members of the mainstream media that openly hate them and want them to fail? Or even just post shit like this when said team loses?

I could understand if it was a team like City or another plastic oil club but the desire for United to fail, even when we're shit is unparalleled.

Can we stop the “just as he was finding form” stuff about Martial.

He’s played 45 minutes three games into the season.

Pre-Season is not real, it never has been and never will be. It’s a money spinning, fitness and experimenting endeavour. You cannot take anything from it.

Honestly it's giving him too much credit to provide him with an explanation.
What a sh*t stain.

4d chess from ETH that will make Cotterill his biggest fan and will write how generous is ETH.

Gary Cotterill should not be welcomed at our press conferences in the future, time to do like sir Alex did.
