What is this love for Ten Haag? Just wondering. Yeah he's doe well at Ajax and he ticks a lot of boxes but its a third rate league and there are millions of these managers out there. Like that Sporting lisbon guy Amorim or somthing is similar. Umm River Plate manager that is supposed to e a genius, linked to Barca, Messie said best manager etc. Is there something about Ten Haag that Im missing. Why is he the next great thing?

Decent record in Europe, they've won 4 out of 4 this season and previously got to the semi final.

I think people see it as you ether get on the mercenary manager merry-go-round like say Chelsea or try and find someone that looks promising but isn't yet at a top club to build something.

And then what? Lack of ambition is astounding. Who's to say Rodgers gets top 4 too? He chokes it every year when on a plate.

He get's Leicester with 10% of the resources of United and a far far weaker squad, to within an inch of top 4, he's been a game away from it twice. By that logic he'd be comfortably getting top 4 and a lot more with this United team.

And then what?....then he can challenge for titles. He's good enough.

Have you ever heard of this little competition called the Champions League?

Didn't win it though.

Pochettino did end up getting the better of him.
I really don't think he needs to have won the CL with a team from the Dutch league to be considered a success.

Between Ten Haag at the end of the season or Rodgers immediately - there's little point debating it unless we have a plan and stick to it.

Our whole backroom operation is a shambles and that's the biggest issue. If you keep the behind the scenes structure the same and swap Ole man for man then whoever replaces him with fail.

We have to go for a complete change - if we change.

If Ole does go, it's a complete transformation. New Manager, with his OWN backroom team.

Thats kinda why I like the Tuchel's, Klopps, Rangnick, Conte to some degree. It's they're way completely. None of this bringing them into work with the existing set up - they bring they're people. It's they're philosophy. They change the whole thing.

I think Ole has tried to do that to some degree, but it hasn;t been perhaps as drastic or as ruthless as it should have been. Our whole coaching set up - bar Phelan is quire raw and inexperienced so we might be missing some vital experience there. McKenna is highly rated but he's younger than Ronaldo. Carrick is in his first gig and the likes or Eric Ramsey and Fletcher are both young and in new roles at the club.

I just hope whatever happens we start to play with some intent. We look so clueless and lost. The players either need to buy into Ole's way and start working harder or we need an overhaul.

I wasn't a fan when Conte was being linked to us, but he'd certainly install some discipline into the club and some of our players certainly need that. Would Ten Hag or Rodgers have that ruthlessness and respect? Ole's nice guy method doesnt seem to hit home to them.

Anyone would be mad to not leave Ajax to manage Utd, even mid season
It wouldn't be mad to reject us at all. He's having a very good season, probably fancying his side to have a good run in the CL again. United look a mess and he'll be under instant pressure to make top 4 with a shambles of a board behind him. He'll also likely have suitors from other top clubs with much better boardroom set ups so if he can bide his time for the next 6-18 months, he may have more attractive opportunities than at United.

The Board and the Glazers have wasted millions, paying for great players this manager cannot and/or will not use. Replacing a manager is cheap compared to that. Fools i tell you...fools!

Wenger till the end of the season with a huge bonus if he can get us CL. Then Ten Hag, would actually love a younger Wenger. Pity his status is massively black marked because of the tight purse strings when Arsenal were someone near the top.

Yes Spurs won, but I don’t think Poch got the better of him. Ajax completely outclassed them at Spurs and Spurs just found some luck and momentum at Ajax. The comeback wasn’t due to tactics.

.
Success and reputation are two different things. Do Nottingham Forrest(2) have a bigger reputation in Europe than Borussia Dortmund (1) or Atletico Madrid(0)? No they don’t. If we were speaking back in the early 80s then maybe, but now is now. Yes Ajax have even been more successful than us in recent years, but for any football club going to play at Old Trafford is a more glamorous tie than going to the JCA.
Are Nottingham Forest still relevant in Europe? The answer is no. Ajax are, so using a club like Forest isn't a good example.

And playing at Old Trafford, again is a moot point because it doesn't change the fact that Ajax have a more illustrious history in Europe and are even more successful in recent years compared to us, who haven't even made a champions league semi for over a decade.

Most importantly, he plays the kind of football we want United to play. High pressing, scores lots of goals, keeps possession, everything in and out of possession looks right. He's also extremely versatile, he can figure out how to fit a variety of different types of players to create a well balanced team. He can play big lump like Haller upfront, he can also do it with Tadic as a false 9 for example.

More subtle things: He has improved Ajax significantly and built two different totally different sides (the one with Frenkie, De Ligt etc.) and the one now that's playing Dortmund off the park.

He is sort of like Klopp / Nagelsmann pre-Liverpool / Bayern. Proved themselves both in the league and in the CL and is just waiting for the next big step.

Ehhh, Spurs without Kane and with a Sissoko-Wanyama midfield dominated Ajax for the last hour and had 24 shots at goal. Ajax completely lost control of that match against a mediocre side playing without their talisman. It wasn't just bad luck and momentum.

PSG owners pay more than us, Leicester and Newcastle have far wealthier owners. Ten Hag can go to Newcastle and get much more money if money is what motivates him

Right now, PSG and Newcastle have managers. The question is, if we sack Ole can we getTen Hag right now? And if yes, why would he want to come to us?

The answer is money. We can pay him more money than what Ajax can pay.

It is the same with Ajax players. Can we get any Ajax player in January? Of course we can. Why would the player leave Ajax to come to us? Because we can pay more. It is that simple.

Sure, if they have an offer with more money from PSG or Newcastle they will probably go there, but if they don't have that offer right now, we can definitely get them.

Whoever comes in, just give them a short contract and if things aren’t looking promising within a year move them on.

Both quite strong candidates taking into consideration where we are now. It has to be Ten Hag for me, Rodgers though has improved a huge amount and I would take him over Ole any day of the week. The last thing we want to do is rush into a decision and then face another season in the wilderness. We need to get it right this time. The board have to decide which candidate is going to give us the best chance of progression and I don't know how they are going to do that but they have to, Ole has basically destroyed us but he is still behind the wheel so to speak, with very tough games coming up. I cannot bear this embarrassment any longer and I hope we find the right solution soon, because if we do not manage top 4 this season could be catastrophic for our future.

It doesn't really work like that as you guys found out the hard way with Moyes.

That said I don't think Rodgers would do bad for you, he very likely won't outsmart all the 'big three' managers over 38 games (you had your chance to get one of them and let him go to Spurs) but he will certainly be a good bridge until you find someone of that mould.

Not a chance

What a complete mess

Even discarding the absolute shocker of a season so far just looking at the teams setup and style of play should be enough to get him out of a job it’s amateur hour compared to the other top clubs.

The level of pure incompetence at a multi billion pound organisation is a sight to behold when it’s all said and done and the club is completely ruined they’ll do documentaries on this shit show, run from top to bottom by a bunch of muppets.

Guys there is no magic fairy who will win us the EPL. Bodger won't do it. Ten Hag might do it after three or four years of focused spending which the Glazers would never allow.

We need to wake the fek up. We are not being run with silverware in mind. Why is that so hard to grasp? The Glazers are relying on fan gullibility to empty your pockets.

That's literally what we've been doing for the last three or four years.

Agree with you that we need to wake the feck up. But we are not going to be able to spend our way out of this shithole. Not while we have the current team managing the affairs.

Mourinho did.

Mourinho's win got a lot of fluke in it.

But for Schole's wrongfully disallowed goal, he would have been knocked out by us at round of 16.

Ten Hag was one kick (of Moura) from reaching the finals of the champions league

I would be very wary of appointing someone who has never managed in the PL,and who doesn’t have world class credentials.Tuchel,Klopp and Guardiola had never managed in the PL before, but they atleast had world class credentials.Pochettino and Rodgers should be above Ten Hag for me..,

Doesn't matter. He won it. He had the shoulders for it. This dude is not at the same level.
Ehhh. The guy did well enough for Ajax, and plays a very attractive style of football. That he didn't do what Mourinho did and something only done a handful of times really doesn't mean much.

I dont think we need 3/4 years of spending. We need a holding midfielder as a priority. The team that we currently have is capable of competing. We’re just to tactically there.

Still won it with a team from a minor league. Football doesn't care about losers. Going through against United was much harder than being pushed out by an out of sorts Tottenham.

I agree on Conte, he was my first choice and we should have got him after the 0-5 defeat to Liverpool before he went to Spurs. Rogers to me is the next best option though. You have a point about Moyes but I genuinely rate Rogers more highly than Moyes. Rogers at least has a style of play and everywhere he's gone, he gets the teams playing exciting attacking football within a matter of weeks. Moyes is doing well at West Ham but up until then he's done nothing of note. I don't class them as on the same level as managers. Given the resources I feel Rogers could challenge at the highest level and but I could be wrong.
