Ronaldo will leave if we are not in Champs League next season.

United need to change something now.

Ole has gone as far (too far) as he can.

Also a lot of players potentially leaving in January and Summer.

Someone needs to manage now not In June or July.

Yeah when will these parasite owners actually wake up to just how many players may well want to leave if Ole stays in charge

You ring Ten Hag now and tell him it's now or never. This is the ideal time to take over. Free pass until the end of the season to implement his system(s)/methods, couple of signings in the Summer, goes into his first full season with the best possible chance

Yeah a big club would give him this exact ultimatum but unfortunately we are run by a bunch of indecisive yankee cowards, therefore rather than adopting the attitude of nothing ventured nothing gained they will just rely on Ole to turn it around instead

Give me one reason why any of you think either Ten Hag is agreeing to join us end of season or Rodgers would abandon Leicester mid-season, in January somehow and join us? Except you are not allowed to use the "we are world's biggest club and nobody can refuse to be our manager" bullshit.

Even if Ten Hag wanted to come to EPL (which many said he doesn't) he is a way better fit for the ambitious Newcastle project, than our pathetic state. And for Rodgers - in what world is he abandoning Leicester mid-season? Or why would Poch leave PSG where he has unlimited money, guaranteed French title and every year to compete for UCL?

This is some crazy shit, that strongly smells of Glazers bullshit propaganda to distract people from the mess we are.

Money.

If we are going to hang on to Ole for the rest of the season, I'd be asking him to reduce his coaching staff by 2 as they are clearly not performing.

Set piece coach for one!

Why is Rodgers even being mentions? Leicester choke every season and they are currently 12th. Can't believe some think he could compete with the top 3 managers.
I dont know much about this Ten Hag fella, but a quick google search tells me that he has won nothing much, and he “choked”, in the Champions and first three losers league, when one up against Spuds, losing 4-1 to a second half Moura hatrick.

Or more likely ten hag would turn around and say ok never it is goodbye. And the chance has gone.

Have any of you really thought about TenHsg and whether the scenario about waiting till the summer? If we toddle on we may end up 6/7/8th and not qualify for next season's Ch Lge. Would Ten Hag come then? Would he do any good here? The changes he would have to make would have the board up in arms. Then like a lot of foreign managers would he fbe able to win us the league and Ch Lge within 3 years or flop? All things to think about.

Ten Hag at the end of the season, provided we get a caretaker for this one to try and salvage some as I don't think I can cope with more Ole and the mockery and dross involved

Exactly, the priority is stopping the rot right now and salvaging the season. Ten Hag might not even want to come here due to the club structure.
Exactly. Everyone thinks all we have to do is click our fingers and Ten Hag will jump. If we are out of the Ch Lge it's highly unlikely. How about if we have already been asking around during this break and everyone wewant has said no? We have been turned down before and managers might be looking at the shit fest here and thinking no thanks. No one knows

In the end, there are still question marks over Potter, Ten Haag or Rodgers. Nobody can predict or guarantee that they will be a success. Just like any club, you hire a manager who is available/interested and sack them if it didn't work out.
Agree

Are these the only alternatives?

Why can't we get Ragnick on a temporary basis? What's Jupp Heynckes doing? Zidane may not want it but if we offered him a pro-rata salary equal to £20m a year would that change his mind?

I don't understand why we're so keen to narrow everything down to Rodgers now or waiting for Ten Hag. Obviously between the two Ten Hag would be my preference. However, we shouldn't be jumping out of the frying pan and into the fire for anyone.
Jupp Heynckes has proven everything already. He doesn’t need our club and we aren’t a reason for him to come out of retirement.

He’s on Sir Alex’s level coaching wise so shame he never managed here. His Bayern side in 2013 was just incredible.

On the new manager note. Take Rodgers now and then Ten Hag in a year and a half or 2 (if he will join).

Bayern have had about 7 manager changes from 2013 to now. We need to keep refreshing the coaches every few years to compete consistently in modern football.

Sir Alex was a one off for our club and that is done.

In the past week we have had 2 managers try to use the press to tell us they are interested and want to take over. Conte has been trying to get the job for years - and we know this. We've had leaks from agents and from boardroom talks for years. When Newcastle made informal approaches to Ten Hag and Overmars it was in print shortly thereafter. These things don't tend to stay secret. Fabrizio Romano is probably the most reliable journalist out there at the moment- and he says we aren't talking to anyone at the moment.

If we were asking around we'd probably have heard something. The only guy we are rumoured to have had informal contact with is Zidane, and he's apparently not interested.

Conte was out of work. Of course he wanted the job. I'm talking about currently employed managers who have to leave their current clubs.

I'm not talking about desire to come here. My point is, if we were asking around there would be more noise around these people than there currently has been. Given that we hear nothing, or what we hear is that we aren't talking to anyone we don't seem to have been in contact with anyone - as incredible as that is given our current situation.

I think the fact that it could cost us a good chunk more than 50 million to sack Ole and his staff, and get a new man and his staff in mid-season, is causing the board/owners to be hesitant to react. It is entirely plausible that we aren't talking to anyone because it would simply be too expensive at the moment and the chance for a top 4 finish and CL advancement is still present.

This poll should read: Rodgers Now - or the vague possibility of Ten Hag in the summer although just as likely Ole limps on for another year.

For that reason, I'm Rodgers in, 100%.

I really don't think waiting until the end of the season is an option. We need a change now or we're going to miss out on Champions League and have a huge chunk of the 1st team wanting out on top of Donny, Pogba and Lingard who are already wanting away.

Players have short careers and they aren't going to want to waste them at this shabbles of a club. At least if we make a positive change now we can consolidate the squad and hopefully push on this season and into

Just because Rodgers dumped Celtic mid-season, it doesn't mean Leicester weren't smarter and had a release to speak clause inserted into his contract.

Nevertheless, Rodgers, just because maybe, just maybe, he will come now and wanting him for change's sake is so wrong. I'd rather wait and find a more exciting and interesting option in the summer.

I agree with your point, probably nothing happened.
The only doubt I have is it doesnt make sense to all get sent on a jolly when we have been outplayed again. Surely work on the training field, trying to achieve a bit of progress would be the order of the day. Thats why it wouldnt surprise me if the board havent tested the water and nothing concrete has been achieved, or they have gasped at the cost. These cnuts would have no qualms sending Ole away then sacking him by a text message.

Not really. In a scenario where the club waited until the summer to get Ten Hag they would speak to Ten Hag now to agree the move in advance. They wouldn't just do nothing for the next few months while hoping he'd be interested when they talk to him next year. We might not know it's agreed in advance, but the club would.

And in that scenario (or any scenario) there'd still be nothing stopping the club from firing Solskjaer before then and appointing an interim manager.

I liked Rodgers at Swansea and he has done a good job at Leicester. If it wasn't for his tenure at Liverpool which was I believe mainly positive, ignoring the fact that it was with Liverpool, Rodgers is as talented as Pochettino.

I would take neither. Neither of them are top quality managers with a winning record in difficult leagues.

I don't want Rodgers at all tbh. Rodger's better than Ole but is a bottler, his European cup performance also isn't good enough.

PSG owners pay more than us, Leicester and Newcastle have far wealthier owners. Ten Hag can go to Newcastle and get much more money if money is what motivates him

How easily would you be able to park the Liverpool history aside if he were to be our manager?

To be honest I don't care about his Liverpool history, it's not as if he had a long and illustrious career with them, it was simply a case of moving up from Swansea to Liverpool. When all is said and done, it wouldn't be different to Ferdinand being a former Leeds player.

I’d have him level with Poch as well, absolutely. In fact he’s proven himself at multiple clubs unlike Poch.

I still don’t fancy either of them here though and I’d go with Ten Haag over both even though theoretically it’s a bigger risk. I’m happy to play the long game if he’s the right guy because he plays how I would like to see United play in the future.

Rodgers is moyes in disguise. He's already failed at a bigger club like moyes.

It would be like liverpool signing moyes and we'd rightly piss ourselves laughing.

Nah that's not fair.

Rodgers generally plays the type of football we want to see. Moyes didn't and was always going to have to change. Even though he couldn't change.

At least with Rodgers he's the right type. I just wonder if he's already peaked as a manager.

You can't describe him as a failure at Liverpool either. That's like saying Ten Haag choked the semi final against Spurs.

I highly highly doubt Ten Hag will come when there's no CL next season. I doubt Ten Hag would even come to Utd at all

The posters thinking we can get the likes of Zidane and Wenger or even Rodgers as caretaker managers are mental, for obvious reasons.

If people want Ole gone now, and they are entitled to, then expect a caretaker to take the form of Fletcher or somebody similar.

I fully expect that sort of caretaker to achieve little this season.

I would like to get Ten Hag, eventually a big club will approach him and he is going to go to a Barca or a Bayern and I'd rather it was us. He is a risk and he might be a completely ordinary manager but those are the risks you take with managers not quite at the top level. I don't think Ole or Moyes count as appointments like that as they were driven by emotion rather than having the best CV. We've tried managers driven by emotion and a couple past their best, we haven't made an appointment that's a promising up and coming manager.

That said I don't think we can get him, by all accounts he won't leave mid season and he might not even be interested in the United job. If he doesn't want it, Zidane doesn't want it, we didn't want Conte...you have to start looking elsewhere. If Rogers can be brought midseason I'd rather see what he can do with the squad than limp on for 6 months.

A change must happen now. We can sack Rodgers at the end of the season if Ten Hag becomes available.

Why should the two options be mutually exclusive?

I'd rather have both options be true - Rodgers now (interim :P ) to steady the sinking ship and Erik ten Hag at the end of the season to guide the ship into the future.

The Liverpool reject isn't joining us on a short-term contract.

Reputation in Europe's premier competition is based on success and not opinions. It's true that there's much more in money in English football, but for a club with vast resources we've been less successful than Ajax historically and they're doing better than us even now with much less resources. But if they had our resources in combination with their approach to playing the game, then this thread wouldn't exist and they'd likely have added a few more European trophies to their list, at the very least.
Success and reputation are two different things. Do Nottingham Forrest(2) have a bigger reputation in Europe than Borussia Dortmund (1) or Atletico Madrid(0)? No they don’t. If we were speaking back in the early 80s then maybe, but now is now. Yes Ajax have even been more successful than us in recent years, but for any football club going to play at Old Trafford is a more glamorous tie than going to the JCA.
