TeamViewer looking to review current deal | Snapdragon/Qualcomm the new sponsor

Shame, their logo is decent tbh. Not an eyesore at least.

Annoys me that it's not symmetrical. Logo should be above text and centred.

Also the shirt looked best when we had SHARP on the front.

Yes I'm old. And grumpy.

Sam Bankman Fries could give us 100 million per season. We missed the opportunity.

On a private level, I have no idea. But Teams integration into office on a business level is fantastic

Yes. And i kinda trust them more when storing/exchanging files there than with Zoom.

Couldn't agree more. It's also a boring font for the name that looks like it was quickly put together in Word by a 12 year old. It's so bad I genuinely prefer the Chevrolet monstrosity.

I'd let TeamViewer go as soon as it's practicable. Looks like there's an element of 'look, we've fukced up here...' rather than them blaming any negativity around United. Wouldn't hurt the PR side of things for them to be seen to be a bit understanding if a suitable replacement can come in.

Team sponsorship is a legit advertising expense. It's just another way to shave a few quid off the tax bill, no?

Why is it bad news if we’re left without a sponsor? Surely in that scenario we’ve bled TeamViewer dry, and in the event they can’t afford to continue it the contract is breached and therefore null and void and we’re able to get a new (perhaps higher) sponsor ahead of schedule.

The club will be fully aware of circumstance and have contingencies. If there’s one thing the club is well ran on in recent years it’s our business dealings.

(Obviously is bad news for shirt owners but that’s by the by. But could also lead to a mid-season uptake in shirt sales if there’s a new sponsor agreed.)

It’s a genuine expense yes, but when this single expense is so costly compared to their net profit it doesn’t make sense.

I’m sure some of the board were sceptical of the idea and bemused by the supposed evidence for it. But if all these other companies are doing it then it must make sense. A lot of marketing investment is like that and sponsorship is particularly bad for it. People really don’t know if it’s a good idea.
That sounds like a Board that should get sacked. Every single one of them.

It's not some random punt but investing half your record pandemic-inflated earnings. It's mental, but the sort of idiotic thing Boards do when they have no idea how to generate further growth.

Instead they significantly reduced earnings and revenue has flatlined for the last four quarters.

Always thought this was a bizarre deal. Yet to hear of anyone who shifted from anydesk to teamviewer en-masse for example because they're United sponsors. Even worse is most of their paying customers are companies that care two hoots about United sponsorship.

The Weinstein Group? Greensill Capital? So many great options for Joel to choose from

Maybe I’m just very biased against Teams because work uploaded it to all of the machines and now everything runs so incredibly slow that it makes me want to tear my hair out when it autoboots. I avoid using all of them given WFH isn’t a possibility in my field.
I thought that for enterprise use (at least those that are using Office365 ) MS Teams is DeFacto standard, but it doesn't seem so:
Microsoft Teams accounted for 14.5% of the market in 2021.(Source: Digital Information World)
Microsoft Teams’ competitors Zoom and Google Meet are the top contenders in the industry. The former holds a 48.7% share; the latter, 21.8% Teams comes in third with 14.5%, which is a 4.8% increase from 2020, when the platform’s market share was just 9.7%.

Zoom has major market share it seems. As for the question what you can do with TeamViewer that you can't with MS Teams it is unattended remote control and usually also MS Teams doesn't allow you execute actions that require elevated admin privileges. MS Teams is collaboration and quick support software. TeamViewer is remote control and support software. Anyway, we ditched TeamViewer in our company as their sales department was incompetent in arranging any good discounts, so we switched to competitor AnyDesk.

Not sure why everyone is talking about Teams and Zoom in this thread when TeamViewer isn't a collaboration tool so much as a remote connection tool, as sokol11 mentioned above.

For home use, TeamViewer is competing with the likes of LogMeIn, Splashtop, RemotePC, Zoho Assist, ISL Online, Parallels Access, AnyDesk, Remote Utilities, Chrome Remote Desktop.
For businesses, TeamViewer is competing with the likes of DameWare, pcAnywhere, Bomgar, and some of the above home use software's business alternatives. Although personally I'd say it's use is surpassed by that of remote connections via Citrix when it comes to the biggest companies.

TeamViewer has a very notable market share in both retail and business for remote connection software. I'm not here to advertise it by any means, just to clarify as some people seem to be misunderstanding its key purpose.

Did wonder what would happen to this lot after lockdowns became a thing of the past... what next? a deal with Twitter?

We finally get a decent sponsor that you can "blend" better into shirts and change the single color and they want out... anything but the horrible multi color chevy bowtie that looks shite on every shirt

Short term pain for long term gain if all the sponsors fecked off. We wont get an adidas contract like the one we got now again. Lets hope the glazers realise this and feck off.

Unless there are clauses in the contract that allow them to cancel / alter the contract if these clauses aren’t met, I didn’t think it was legal for a company to just cancel it?

i don’t think we’d get as much from other companies like we have at the moment given the economy etc so we’d be silly to let them walk away without compensation

Couldn't United just say "pay 75% worth and we'll end it now".. then get a new sponsor quickly to earn two shirt sponsorship incomes for a while?

Not that i care what the Glazers earn, but it seems United are in the position of power.

What even are Teamviewer? What do they do?
It's a mystery that not a single post in this thread could possibly explain.
Woodward has really Ricky Roma'd this lot.

TeamViewer is a software that allows remote connectivity to your computer. For example, in your org, if you have remote/offshore teams with devices either managed by your company or a contractor, Team Viewer will be used to help with connectivity.

I thought I was quoted because you appreciated the reference.

Its a tech company. Its main product, TeamViewer lets you access PCs, Virtual Machines and Mobile devices remotely. Its mainly used by employees to do remote work (when their devices are in the office) and IT support companies to remotely control their clients device in order to fix problems with applications or Operating System. Needles to say, its also used a lot in IT support internet scams.

Maybe twitter is interested? Elon did show interest in us at one point

Can imagine it now. Instead of Twitter's logo, we would probably have a series of memes plastered on our players chests.

Maybe it could be some kind of digital display so Elon can shitpost in real time throughout the match to make sure he's getting attention!

How can this be possible? How can someone make a deal then just try to reconsider. I want to start doing this after i eat at a restaurant or buy clothes.

“I’ve reconsidered the price…”

yes, but only if (total) advertising expense is around 5-10% of your revenue, and definitely not EQUAL to your annual profit. Team is not just shaving off their tax bill, they are shaving off bonus and dividend.

They sponsor the Mercedes F1 too, that must be expensive. I was quite surprised they sponsored us in the first place.

Maybe it was a punt to elevate their name/brand recognition so that they would get bought up by one of the Big Techs?

I'm not surprised. Their share price boomed during the covid lockdown and they went wild thinking they'd made it to the tech big leagues. They've regressed back into what they were before hand and suddenly realised they don't have cash to burn.

They probably Viewed our Team and said balls to that.

It's just how tech industry works these days, they're trying to cut cost and in this case marketing spending. More and more companies are asking employees to go back to the office. Reducing the demand for remote software. Even the biggest tech companies also asked employees to return to the office for some reason. And here they thought COVID was going to change everything and that a large percentage of us that worked from home will likely remain that way for the rest of our lives. Then people realized you can't replace human social interaction. TeamViewer, just like any other, probably have overestimated their own growth.
