Lets see if Schneiderlin has more freedom to get forward, this midfield pair hasn't been great from what I remember early in the season. Would rather see Herrera and Carrick together.

Disagree, it has Mata in it. He disrupts so much of our attack and he has pulled a big veil over the heads of a lot of fans.
How does he disrupt the attack: He will chose to pass backwards at just about the wrong time, he will chose to flick the ball when it is not necessary at all, he will shot from an impossible angle and then clap his hands in disgust and make that face. LVG is pinning his future on Mata and Fellaini. At least Fellaini is not in the team today.
Any midfield pairing with Carrick is a win. I am glad Keane is on the bench. His future is shaping up like Scholes. Manager was not rating him until a blitz of goals in a mid week game of the unders/reserves.Fellaini "more or less injured" according to van Gaal, seems it's him resting him to prevent injury rather than an actual injury though. Herrera over Schneiderlin for me. Carrick needs someone to do the running for him. Someone to get forward so he has an outlet if teams pressure him, and so he can get the ball forward instead of sideways or backwards. I get the feeling Sunderland will look to sit deep and then just suffocate Mata when he gets the ball.
I agree, his critics say he is only playing them because he has decimated the team so much that he has to rely on them. However it was his plan and it has been his plan for his whole life. This is what he does. This is why I was happy for his selection. A sustain success is built on a crop of homegrown players who truly loves the club and it is has been the only thing they care about.
