After nearly giving Cesc away, Arsenal better get at least 45 mil for Van Persie.

He is 29 in August, got a injury history and got one year left on his contract, £30 million actually seems like a pretty fair price.

It seems pretty generous to me.
30m is a lot of money for Van Persie if he wants to leave.

He is 29 in August, got a injury history and got one year left on his contract, £30 million actually seems like a pretty fair price.

Someone recently argued in another thread that years left on a contact don't matter when two or more teams are fighting over a player.

All the big spenders will want him, I can see a bidding war getting silly.

The bidding will be on the wages/signing on fee more than the transfer fee

Anything over 15 million for a 29 year old striker in the last year of his contract is solely City/Chelsea/Real territory.

He's a top player, but you aren't going to get more than 2, perhaps 3, years of service for him. His wages would be around 7-8 million quid a year. 40 million for a 3 year contract (no sell on fee) if you buy him for 15 million.

In those 3 years, he'll have to be injury free to even come close to justifying that.

Slap on a 30 million fee and that's 55 million for 3 years. (18m/year).

Ronaldo costs 130 million over 5 years and would get a massive sell on fee (26 million/year). And he's much more marketable and a different class player.

The rumour is that City are going to pay him 250000 a week which would be in line with their top earners. Say the contract is for for 4 years and add the 30m fee then he would cost 82m when all is said and done.

So to summarise United-related stuff

We might be interested in Gylfi Sigurdsson (Caught Offside - therefore likely 100% bollocks)

We are thinking of signing both Modric and Bale () (Source: Metro)

Fryers might go to Spurs (Mirror)

Christian Eriksen is a reported target for Manchester United, Manchester City, Arsenal and Chelsea (Mail on Sunday - we have heard this one before - United are likely to be on the list to spice up the story / help the agent / increase the price etc)

Nani hasn't been given a contract yet and therefore might be off (:boring:)

Is this Fryers lad any good?

Is this Fryers lad any good?

He wouldn't be someone I'd be hugely excited about if he played elsewhere and I heard United were after him. He's decent, might well improve with regular football. Probably a decent enough signing if you're getting him for a minimal compensation fee. We'll take Modric for him. Cheers.

Is this Fryers lad any good?

I rate him. Never really stood out in the Reserves, was good but nothing special. But his first team appearances impressed me. Looked like a player who really took his chance to shine with both hands. I doubt he'll get many games for you this season unless you have a major injury crisis. But he's a good long term bet.

Its his physical attributes that make him look stunning at times for a 19 year old, pace to burn and is strong...

Other than that, he has a lot to learn to become a true CB or LB.

Possibly a good signing for you Glaston if you don't have any potentially good though coming through the ranks in LB/CB.

That's the key. At United he'd find it nigh impossible to push past our current centre-backs into the first team. I'd have thought we might have kept him as left-back cover though, especially with Fabio going. The only answer I can see to that is that we have either done a deal with a new left-back, or are at least determined to get the best one we can come what may.

We do at CB - Steven Caulker.

And if Vertonghen signs, which seems very likely, then he and Kaboul will probably be our first XI CB pairing from now on. He also provides cover at LB for Ekotto.

And then we have Kyle Naughton, who was on loan at Norwich last season and can also play at LB.

So I'm not sure where Fryer would get much chance at Spurs, in the short-term at least.

You've answered your own question then. 4th choice centre-back is about what he'd be expecting at his age. At United he'd be 6th at best.
