I personally believe Jose can clearly see he is nowhere near the player he was and yes over the last ten years he has been one of the best English players for sure but he is not a very good forward anymore and he is not a very good midfielder either. Schneiderlin has been bang on average. Rooney is new in the midfield position and has shown signs of adapting to it pretty well.
Rooney have in no way showed he is able to adapt to a midfield role, you´re speaking utter nonsense here to be honest. He have zero qualities for the MF role either defensive nor offensive unless you aim for a Liverpool position in the league.
Available evidence shows he has done better than Schneiderlin, not that it says much actually considering Schneiderlin is not an elite midfielder, He is actually not good enough in every sense.
