Napoli close to agreeing fee for Maksimovic. Chelsea ask Torino for time to formalize an offer as they're in pursuit of first-choice Romagnoli.

Just seems like Chelsea wanting to piss off Napoli after they asked too much for Koulibaly.

I really rate Romagnoli and I think he's up there with the best young CB's in the world. But surely with Napoli supposedly agreeing a loan deal for Mangala and their pursuit of Maksimovic would suggest that Koulibaly is on the move.

"We nearly signed him as well, back in the summer of 2016. But we didn't." - Arsene Wenger, 2024.

Wonder how much they offered or if they even went as far as that. €50m tops. (Arsene at €100m release clause: "Oh (bleep) no!")

Would arsenal even benefit that much from him?
I know hes a great player but do they really need another AM?

Blaise Matuidi has reached a contract agreement with Juventus, a deal between clubs is close, according to L'Équipe.

No way. The great PSG team getting broken apart now that Ibra and Matuidi are leaving.

Really underrated player Matuidi, for me he was the midfielder of the tournament proper box to box and really showed how his game is far superior to any midfielder in the PL.

its a shame we will probably never get a chance to see Matuidi in the PL or one of the big Spanish clubs, i feel like people would have appreciated him alot more

Wouldn't surprise me if we have to get rid of players before we can add someone else, could be the reason behind the harsh treatment of Schweinsteiger

Ibra
Rooney
Pogba
Mata
De Gea
Mkhi
Schweinsteiger

All more than likely in the top bracket of football wages due to the nature of their signings

We definitely do - Schweinsteiger being the logical choice due to his high wages. This would be consistent with recalibrating the wage structure as we did by selling/releasing - RvP, Falcao, Di Maria, Hernandez, Nani, Rafael etc.

The club did make a small profit on him though, when he was sold.
I thought we broke-even (not including his wages of course)? I remembered it as £3m in, and then £3m out to Newcastle a couple of years later. I remember a profit on Diouf and Manucho, and a loss on Tosic and Bebe - now I'll need to go and dig up the figures otherwise it'll start to bother me

A pound under the release clause and not a penny more.

Just stuck a fiver e/w on Juve for the champions league. Which will now mean they'll nose dive out at the group stage but they've recruited well this summer.
