A handful of good games shouldn't be good enough for any player to survive....
As for Herrera he was really disappointing last season....in his defence he barely played a consistent run of games and deserved more opportunities - Herrera has proved at United he is a far more effective and talented player than Fellaini
I have no idea why Jose would want to keep such a limited player as Fellaini but then again Mikel survived at Chelsea under him....Mikel was an efficient enough defensive midfielder against lesser teams though where Fellaini's only real strength is causing a bit of chaos in the last 10 when chasing a game...an expensive tactic considering what we paid in fees and ongoing wages
The big issue with Fellaini is that to get the best out of him you need to play a certain type of football...if Jose's game plan is Moyes at Everton i will eat my shoes
It's up to Jose but I will be very surprised if the Belgian survives - much prefer to see a more mobile and better footballer like Fosu-Mensah provide backup
Firstly Herrera played at least 300 more minutes than Fellaini. Why does he deserve more than that when he wasn't good enough in the actual minutes he got and Fellaini actually played better than him?
And it's nonsense that we need to employ long ball tactics. We never resorted to that unless it was the last 5 minutes. That's something many managers do. Klopp put on a defender upfront for last 10 minutes vs us. Fellaini definitely has other uses. He won't be a starter of course but he is a much more useful player to come off the bench than Herrera. Or even mata.
