This is going to drag on, thought it was much closer to be honest. Has the feeling of Vidal/Ramos all over it. We want the player, but it is very complicated to do the transfer because the owning club doesn't want to sell and the player himself is not 100% set on the move either.

Off topic slightly and separate from Pogba, does anybody think we might hear something United transfer related this week? Last full week of the transfer window without a tour, match etc.
Just posturing I think. Good thing is Mourinho probably won't let this turn into a saga and will move on to other targets quickly if necessary.
It very much feels like Ramos last year. If Juve don't lower the price for Madrid, it seems likely he'll just renew for a big new deal with them. I think that, if he's really so unsure about coming here, we should avoid him anyway and shop elsewhere. Don't want to see us selling him to Madrid/Barca/PSG next year for £50m.....

One player hasn't settled yet and still has a lot to prove to be a starter for a deeper role which is really important for a Jose team. Also, Schweini is forever crocked and can't be relied on to play 90 minutes for 30+ matches in a season. If not this year, then next year a better and younger player is an absolute necessity. I agree that the ball carrier and connector role is also very important as we lack imagination and creativity in that role currently, but the priority is the first one I believe.
It will be extremely difficult to get results against top clubs without a Carrick type player who is good at what he does.
But we still have Carrick, we don't have a midifeld creater. Let's not forgot how good Schneiderlin was when he signed him, at Southampton he comfortably had the best defensive stats in the league. Combine that with Schweinsteiger and we have 3 players available in play that one spot. Creativity is our biggest issue.
