If anything they need to integrate Varane and they are defensively sorted. They need more of a forward threat from midfield, relying on Ronaldo to paper over that is asking too much for a soon to be 32 year old.

Yeah, it doesn't make a lot of sense. Article says he'd be the perfect replacement (no idea in which sense) for Marcelo and could also be used in CM.

There are quiet rumours that Kroos might be on the move though, and a midfield three of Casemiro, Modric and Alaba would be amazing.

Lewa signed a deal a month or so ago too and yet his agent was whoring him to Real just last week.

Would be a good signing for any team, but at about 50m for a 28yr old, it hardly represents value for money. Hence can't see the lfc committee going for it.

A couple of years ago there was a stat floating around showing that no team had won the CL in about ten years with a main striker over 28 or 29. It really is a position where youth dominates these days. Aside from a few freaky exceptions (Zlatan, Ronaldo), I think peak years for a CF are 24-27. Whereas for most other positions it's more like 26-29. If we spend big money on a forward this year, I hope he's no older than 25.
