It's the 3rd time in the last 7 years ... so not such a rare event.

Sorry I had to get involved here, but you're saying United fans shouldn't be looking towards the title but Spurs should aspire to finish top four? Going by your logic, because Spurs have finished top for 3 times out of 7, yet United have won 3 titles in 8, so we very much have the right to look forward to a title challenge as you do for finishing top four!

This year the traditional big clubs have faltered massively, and yet your club with probably the best squad I'm years, with a very good manager still managed to choke to your adversaries in Arsenal, suggest you concentrate on your own ambitions rather than coming on a United forum to knock the hopes of others.

This is a high risk strategy by real. They're mad if they think they can get 60m euros for him.

From that article:-

When asked exactly which other clubs had an interest in the French midfielder, Raiola replied "Sheiks, everybody,"

So that narrows it down to PSG, Manchester City, and every other club in the planet. Thanks Mino!

United have faltered the last 3 years running, only getting 4th place in one of those years. So it's not unreasonable to suggest that top 4 for United this coming season is a more realistic aim than winning the title.

Anyhow, this discussion should best take place in another thread. In the meantime, you can of course look forward to whatever you league finish you wish.

When replacing probably the greatest manager in history with Moyes it's bound to cause havoc at the club, agreed the transition went appalling, can say we're going to stay in a mess with a winner like Mourinho at the helm, things can only get better for us from here on in really, while for Spurs this is pretty much their norm, finishing outside the top four more often than making it.

And you're right, not the place to discuss this topic, you can't expect to have no replies once you bait other posters though, doesn't quite work like that.

Good luck on your fight for fourth this upcoming season.

He's been having a good Euros, so you never know, especially if he scores a few more. PSG & Arsenal do need a new striker, and it seems Wenger is done with his value buys.

Am I right in thinking the window opens July 1st? In which case how did we sign Bailly, was it a case of we reached agreement but nothing will be official until the 1st?

Glaston (when talking up Spurs and assessing United) is like knwoing the inflation ratio in sub-saharian regions of Afraica in the 1930 when talking about forecasted rainfall in Brazil in 2020's. Ie best igonred.

Troy Denny going for £30 million on the same day Real Madrid sign spains 1st choice striker Alvaro Morata for €30 million. unbelievable

Which is why the England team is shot. Managers get slated or used to for buying foreigners but who can blame them.

Morata had a buy back clause and Madrid are expected to sell him on for £50m+

The more I think about the Troy Deeney deal, the more I think Leicester are geniuses. In essentially assigning Deeney this value they get to set the tone and dictate the prices of this transfer market. No matter what deal happens after (if) Deeney goes to Leicester, it will be compared alongside it. Basically - clubs will demand even more for players they're willing, but not looking, to get rid of because - Deeney to Leicester.

Leicester come off best in this because they will make it harder for the clubs around them to sign players, as well as instantly increase the amount they can demand for players potentially wanting to move on from them. They also get Deeney at £12-15m over his actual value, but this will be recuperated easily if they sell any of their big three.

It would have made a lot of sense until you weigh in the fact that two out of the big three have release clauses in their contract. Vardy's is at 20m and Kante at 22m according to reports if I am not mistaken. They could recoup all that money on the Mahrez deal alone though.
