Television Succession

Why the cough? GOT started out copying the books word for word and then gradually moved to a point where the writers came up with a collection "badass" Tiktok clips they would loosely connect.
Just saying that's the exact model of Game of Thrones and the other more recent one.

So is this show consistent? Or do the latter seasons start to turn shit?

Well it's only had 3 seasons.... so we're not even at the 'later' seasons. It's gradually got better so far, but on a rewatch, which I might do soon, I might appreciate s1 more.

You feel so? Thought season 3, while still good, was quite a bit weaker than the first two. Started to go in circles a bit.

I would say on 3 that a lot of it was treading water a bit, but the last episode was proper knock your socks off stuff where all the setup from the rest of the season properly came to a head and made up for it in my opinion.

You're probably right in that sense actually, I think I remember feeling it felt the restrictions of a COVID production too. But like I say I haven't rewatched it all, but season 3 didn't have the epic finale.

The filming location in Tuscany for the last 2 episodes of Season 3 was stunning! Anyone ever been to Tuscany?

After what's been going in in WWE, I decided to binge this. fecking good shit.

Shit. I thought they’d do five. I hope it ends strong but I’ll miss it terribly.

Ah man. At least he's choosing it to end so it can be wrapped up nicely. Nothing worse than if they start milking a show.

I think it's the right decision. Season 3 was good but it kind of ended in a wimper compared to the endings of season 1 and 2.

I recall season 3 largely being a bit meh throughout but ending on a bang, so the opposite of you. Definitely the right time to end it.

Fine with that if it means they’ve nailed the ending.

You haven’t been Wambsgansed yet.
I thought the Wambsgansed moment you're referring to happened in season one, about two episodes after I read this.

Season three finale though, fecking hell. That's a Wambsgansing for the record books.

It was glorious.

Season 3 ended on the biggest bang.. what?
Anyway, I was expecting it to end with season 5, season 4 ending with Logan's death and then season 5 post-Logan life. But I trust that if they've decided to end it at season 4 it's the right decision, ending it on their own terms! I want to do a rewatch but man, some of this stuff is hard to watch knowing what's gonna happen.

I bet MiceOnMeth was fuming when the Breaking Bad season 5 mid-season break ended with just a guy reading a book whilst having a shit and the plot not being advanced at all.

Just started watching this show a few weeks ago and we are already caught up just in time for the final season

did the OP ever change his mind on the show?

I did, love it.
The change in tone has an explanation. If I remember they changed show runner or something between the first couple of episodes. That’s why there’s more of a dark comedy to it and why certain storylines were dropped (the character Kendall was negotiating with in episode 1 was meant to have a far bigger role while Logan was meant to die off by episode 3)
It’s not as obvious when you have lots of episodes to binge but when I made this thread they were only a few episodes in and I was all Billions out

It's good they've decided to end it and not overstay their welcome. Will probably have to do a full rewatch of the 1st three season before the 4th comes out.

Have just started this plan, watched S1E1 the other night and looking forward to burning through ready for a Wambsgansing.

I might go back and enjoy Boar on the Floor again.

Gutted to hear the 4th will be the final one, I thought they could've gone to 5.

New trailer just dropped, cannot wait!
