god I can’t wait for it to return. It’s bordering on being my favourite show ever
The finish to the last season has me hyped for what’s next more then anything else I can think of other than Isaac “Hank” Schrader going for an 11 month shit in the mid-season break of BB’s final season.

Hopefully with no disruptions like S3 had it will reach the same heights as before.
I love succession, it forces you to figure things out for yourself and doesn't try and tell you how you should feel.

Billions is a very good show, definitely worthy of a watch. Stop after the second to last season. It craters.

Oh shit, I have to do another full re-watch before then.
It's the opposite, Billions is like a bad version of this. Admittedly I stopped watching Billions a few seasons in, but this is just higher quality throughout.
Edit: Don't get me wrong, Billions isn't bad, it's just not Succession-good.

Yeah what nimic said - Succession is superior to Billions in almost every way, though the latter is not a bad show, and the first couple of seasons are actually very enjoyable and entertaining. Becomes quite shit soon after that though.
Was looking for something to binge and saw this thread get bumped. I'm only three episodes in and so far it's been great. I can't quite put my finger on why because the story is a little paint by numbers, but the characters themselves are so well written and portrayed that it's always keeping me engaged.
MacFadyen's character already seems like a right cnut. Not just for how he's treating the cousin but he just comes across as a total slimeball in general. One of those folk that seems like they'd happily walk over your dying corpse to get to a 50p coin at the other end of the room.

Pandemic hurt the last season. It had ridiculous sets and locations for the first 2 seasons but they found every excuse to set episodes in hotel rooms and halls for the most recent.
I think Billions is just cheap entertainment. Everything is quite on the nose, there is little depth or subtlety to it. It was okay to watch initially, but eventually I always get bored with these shows that almost exclusively have to rely on "twists", to keep you interested.
Succession on the other hand has genuinely good and relatively deep writing. Even if the general setting is very grandiose and the show has plenty of comedic (satirical) moments.
Why the cough? GOT started out copying the books word for word and then gradually moved to a point where the writers came up with a collection "badass" Tiktok clips they would loosely connect.
