Sturridge - Sky’s new entertainer :(

Souness was garbage. Good riddance. We don't need two angry old men on there. Keane is enough.

I want more younger pundits that played during the modern era.

Wait is he full time? Ffs. I assumed it was just because he had played for both clubs.

He was truly awful. Nothing against bringing younger pundits in but do they really need to have one with the maturity levels of a 12 year old child?

The awkward way Micah just stopped talking when he randonly said "ooh la la"

Why are they always fecking Liverpool players. To be fair to him he’s played for fecking everyone

The American accent he put on hurt my spine

The entry level into football punditry is pretty low I see. Football’s answer to Richie Benaud isn’t coming out of Sky either way.

Desperate attempt to appeal to younger viewers? Can’t imagine while else they’d put a moron in there.

Absolutely terrible. He’s that bad the rest of them must be looking at each other wondering wtf he’s doing there

The onion bag reference was so cringy

Souness and Keane were great with great input. We need more of those people. If younger generation could learn a bit or two from guys men like that, football wouldn't look like this today.

I honestly can’t watch the coverage these days and haven’t for a few years, just switch on for the game itself. Complete contrast to the cricket which Sky have done brilliantly for years and still do.

Both of them complain about players not working hard enough. That's what their analysis comes down to in a lot of scenarios. There are only two pundits with great tactical input. Neville and Carragher. The rest are personalities.

The thing that irks me is that Souness and Keane were giants of the game, their teams and big European names at their respective times.

Even Carragher and Neville won big titles (mainly Neville).

Sturridge and Richards have won feck all in the game, and weren’t even ‘seasoned’ PL players or important for their teams. Why are they getting such good punditry jobs?

Sad reflection of how most punditry / presenting is heading. Pretty much everything's being dumbed down with 'characters' to appeal to similar demographics.

I tend to mute / skip plenty of the pre-match, HT, and post-match stuff nowadays on all channels as much of it is pretty dreadful.

And they are right. With all new machnes and everything that is modern around them they don't commit 100% to football. It is clothingbrands, instagram, twitter, parties and so on.

The thing is, Sturridge has no character at all. He’s as wooden as they come. Richards might be an oaf but he’s got miles more charisma.

Don’t they ever screen test these guys before giving them the job? Or perhaps everyone else they tested was even worse?!

I think Sturridge has a lot of cheeky funny guy personality but you kind of need it in small doses. A few times on BBC/ITV at the Euros or a World Cup. Not every weekend on sky sports…

I thought he was a real breath of fresh.......na can't do it.

Another incredibly annoying tit that they'll have climbing all over Keane for social media bait.

Yeah.

Like @GlasgowCeltic said, if they just wanted a City pundit to balance out the United/Liverpool thing Nedum Onuoha is always interesting....but they're looking for VIRAL MOMENTS which he won't bring.

Edit - shit, forgot Micah Richards is a City pundit. Even less idea why they chose Sturridge.

Random thought. Has anyone ever seen any young, ex-pro pundit on Tv who impressed them? Maybe they’re all terrible and Sturridge is the best of a bad bunch?
That is why you don't hire those guys. You stick with the ones who know one or two about football.

I get the impression that Sky know that Keano is their superstar, and putting him in a studio with two oldish-but-think-they're-young dumbasses with comparatively few footballing accomplishments will generate more clicks and views than they would get if they brought in guys that would fulfill the diversity quota and actually be respected by Roy (like Drogba for instance).
