Strootman or Fellaini?

Name and shame those who preferred Fellaini at the time

Fellaini proven in premier league and our team
Needs some physical presence, he may not be technically great but he is a real asset offensively and defensively is versatile and a goalscorer.

Would be happy with Fellaini bale and a left back.
:lol::lol::lol:

Haha to be honest many didn't rate Strootman before he went to Roma, an awful lot of people thought he would be a decent signing but didn't think he was anything special

Feck sake. Reading these comments make me feel better . We, football fans are all clueless

People slagging off the potential purchases of Blind might do well to look at how people were wary of Strootman last Summer based on him only having performed in Holland.

We don't and can't attract world stars to United or we get quoted massive fees for them when they've already been snapped up. We need to be going for these guys when they're sub £20m purchases and not already viewed as big name stars. It has served us well in the last and we shouldn't veer away from that policy.

Well the difference is Strootman is much, much better.

Nah thats bollocks I'm sorry.

Strootman currently is sure, but everyone thought he was fecking shite last year hence why most people posted things like 'I'm glad he's gone to Roma' when he didn't sign.

In my case there is not a case pf hindsight. I thought Strootman would be a good signing for us last summer. Just comparing Strootman and Blind as players Blind does not come close to Strootman in terms of quality.

Look at the bright side, our legend and star pundit Paddy has just mixed Kroos with Strootman.

The hindsight on here through last season has been delicious.

If ever there was a thread to make you be a bit more open-minded about your quick analysis of players.

Just goes to show how clueless the average fan is. I remember lerking on redcafe while we were heavily linked with Fellaini. The general consensus then was that he was the powerhouse box to box midfielder we desperately needed. I also remember many Utd fans on here claiming he would be "Our Yaya Toure" I sat infront of my PC in complete disbelief at what i was reading. That summer was dark times for me as a fan. I was totally against replacing Ferguson with Moyes and the signing of the lump of lard Fellaini broke my spirits. I written that season off from the start while the average fan was strangely optimistic.

No. 1) we can't afford them 2) they wouldn't want to come here 3) of they happened to be available the voltures that are Chelsea, City and PSG would eat us alive. Which is why we better going for James Mc Carthey's.

Now stop asking stupid questions.
Wow what a negative person!

The obvious point I was making is that you know that NOW, when he's already gone elsewhere and has a massive price tag on his head.

I don't even think we know that now as surely as we think we do.

There's a reasonable chance that if we'd signed Strootman and he'd had an injury hit first season, he'd have failed to perform, given how bad the whole team was doing.

And equally, had Fellaini stayed at Everton, he may well have kept on doing what he had been doing for them, and we'd all be sat here now claiming we'd signed the wrong guy.

Fekk me, but I thought there was a lot of interest in Strootman here on the caf before Moyes went on vacation last summer, during which time Strootman was off the table -- probably never even on Moyesey's radar. Even a bit of panic over the fact that we lost out on him.

To my eye, the solution is really simple: bring in Ronaldo.

If we can assume we'll have a healthy Vidic for most of the season, we're going to keep a shitload of clean sheets. That's just the way it is. So I'm not into going after a shit-kicking midfielder right now, although if Bayern put Schweinsteiger up for sale (which they never well), I'd open up the checkbook for him immediately. And on those days when we do need a negative specialist to grind down an attacking threat, I'm happy to throw Jones into the lion's den. Bizarre facial expressions aside, he's actually done a pretty job in midfield.

Do this, as costly as it will be, and we'll haul in the prem trophy next season in a cakewalk and make it to the semifinal of the CL:

Carrick
Valencia/Kagawa/Ronaldo
Rooney/RvP

This assumes Nani has left us. If he stays, he and Valencia can compete for the right mid spot. Cleverley is more than an able understudy for Kagawa. Ronald is pretty decent. Hernandez and Welbeck ain't so bad. Young is a decent squad man. Depth is not our problem...our problem is the lack of a reliable executioner beside RvP. That reliable executioner needs to be Ronaldo.

The objection to this, one supposes, is that we might be a little soft in the middle of the pitch with Carrick and Kagawa and that would be a reasonable concern. But I'm going to go back to my assessment that Vidic is a monster. De Gea is on the verge of greatness. And I'm going to stand by my assertion previously that Valencia does a very good job defensively.

If Moyes thinks it can work, perhaps have Roo sit back as a true central mid and push Kagawa up. That would solve the "softness" concern, but I just don't know if Roo has the fitness level to pull this off. Maybe it doesn't matter as we wouldn't need Roo to run box to box against most clubs and he can save himself for the big matches.

So I just wouldn't bother with Fellaini. He deserves to be starting on a regular basis but I don't see him being the right fit for United unless he's happy to be a squad man. Strootman probably would be happy to be a squad man, so I wouldn't object to bringing him in to learn the trade in the English prem as Carrick's engine begins to slow down. But neither should be the immediate focus.

wat.

I don't see why it's so funny posters rated a player they'd seen much more of and who had done well in the Premier League over Strootman last year.

Especially as Strootman was an Eredivisie player. It's always very difficult to estimate a players quality from playing in that league.
