Stones vs David Luiz

Luiz:I wasted two years at PSG in Ligue 1. It's like playing FIFA on the beginner level.'

I wouldn't want a player with an attitude like that anywhere near my team

He has made a statement about the bollocks you posted on his official Facebook...
"A clarification! Be aware! The post made on 08.30.2016 hosted by the Twitter account “@SunGossip” and facebook page account “@oddsbibletips” and the post made on 09.01.2016 hosted by the Instagram account "@visubal" contain untrue statements! Some of which contain malicious falsehood and disrespectful words towards the French League. I never spoke with these accounts and I never gave an interview where I could said this.

I have a tremendous respect to all French Federation of Football, Football teams, players and supporters.

I am not against freedom of speech and I recognise the value of fair publication. But be aware about the posts these social medias accounts been doing! ;-)"

This is what he actually said about leaving PSG (it's a tranlation so the English is a bit wonky)...
Professional life sometimes offers the opportunity to enjoy great moments of satisfaction. Thank you, President Nasser Al-Khelaifi, for all those good moments of satisfaction experienced by the Paris Saint-Germain. I also want to thank all my fellow members of the team, to my two coaches, technical commission and to all these amazing people friendly at the club with whom I had the pleasure of sharing my days in the training center and in the park of the princes.

And you, the fans a lot, but thank you very much! After two seasons in the psg we had the opportunity to share unforgettable moments! Together we celebrate two league titles in France, two cups of France, two hearts and two league trophies of champions! I'm very proud of power have helped build a little bit of the history of this great club which is psg and I'm eternally grateful and happy to be able to have played the French Championships!
Paris Saint-Germain: I wish the best for their next seasons! And thank you very much city of Paris, for these beautiful moments!

Campbell was nowhere even close to what Terry has done. Terry has been consistent for 13 long years at the top of his game. Won the PL 4 times with different partners at all times.

Stam played 2 and half seasons in PL. No way you can compare that to 13 seasons.

Kompany has barely been fit for 2 seasons too. Wow. Imagine comparing his to Terry.
By your logic, Ryan Giggs is the best PL player of all time because he did it consistently for 21 seasons. We all know thats not true.

Terry at his best was definitely not better than Stam. Stam won the Premier League every season he's been here and that includes a Treble.

So longevity is not important in talking about the best players now? So a player who played 2 and half season in PL is better than a guy who played 13 seasons and won it 4 times at the top of his game.
Coming to the PL for 3 years and winning every year in those 3 years is much more impressive than staying in it for 20 years and winning it 4 times.

Besides, Stam has played for other top teams. Terry was only good enough for Chelsea. He wouldn't get into a Madrid or Milan team. Regardless of what the English press/fans say.

Stones because he has never lost 7-1.

I still remember that match.
Luiz was in the thick of it and he was terrible. I think he even scored an assist in that game....for Germany!
To my mind, the only thing Luiz is good at, is carrying a soft perm.
He is certainly not a bad player, but I don't get the "World's most expensive defender" tag.

Who would I have right now?
Stones.
This is because he may become great in 2 years.
Luiz will always be limited, though at present is the better of the 2.

Campbell is being ridiculously underrated. The guy was a monster. Apart from an inconsistent 18 months at the end of his Arsenal run, he was outstanding. That was due to some serious personal problems behind the scenes. Even at Portsmouth in his 30s, he remained a rock.

Hello guys. As you know, I am a Chelsea fan. So of course I would choose Luiz in my team. Let's forget the age difference at the moment as clubs buy the players to make a difference in the current season rather than after 3-4 seasons. Now who would you prefer to take in your team out of those 2?

Wouldn't touch either of them with a barge pole.

The new wave of defender that can't actually defend. Both absolute liabilities. If you had to chose one currently it would be Luiz because he's found form in a back three, but I wouldn't bet against that form falling away quite drastically at some stage soon.

Can't stand Luiz and always thought he was utter shite but I've been impressed with him since his return whereas, Stones has been utter wank for City thus far.

Ignore the fact that stones is a average (at best) defender. Am I the only person that thinks he's actually a very poor passer of the ball? There's a difference between good on the ball and confident on the ball. FOr me stones is confident on the ball, not good on it. In fact, he's just an arrogant smug cnut.

Stones. He isn't as poor as he's made out to be, would take him instead of Smalling or Jones any day of the week.

Luiz is delivering, but Stones can play 10 years and he's English!

Very poor is probably too strong but he's not as special as it's made out to be as it's his biggest (only?) forte. He's probably the only English defender that's been playing for them lately who can somehow pass the ball, they're quite desperate for a second coming of Rio, hence the huge exaggeration when it comes to Stones. Masking of his inability to defend is always making me laugh, as are the Rio comparisons.

Don't rate either of them defensively. However, if I had to pick one, solely for this season, then Luiz. He's brilliant on the ball.

Luiz is better than Stones at the moment, yet he's still a liability at times.

I am a fan of Stones' potential though he needs to be more consistent and better with his decision making.

Luiz is better on the ball. Funnily enough for all the comments on how Stones is like Beckenbauer potential on the ball.. Most of his defensive errors come directly from him playing it out incorrectly and he flaps under pressure a lot making poor decisions on the ball constantly. I genuinely think Bailly for example shits on him when it comes to on the ball ability and decision making.

As for actual defending I do think Stones has it in him to potentially get better but Luiz will always be brain dead on that front unless he's surrounded by quality. Stones has time on his side to get better.

Bailly is good but he's not as comfortable as Stones is on the ball. The amount of times Bailly has just smashed it into the stands or high up into the air when he could have controlled it and passed is a little annoying. Still though I am sure he will get rid of that.
