Serious question to United fans.

Could you ever have hoped for Stevie G to bow out in such a comical fashion? ie slipping to blow Liverpools best chance of a title in over 20 years, sent off after mere seconds on the pitch in his last game vs United, anonymous and defeated in an FA cup final against Aston Villa.

It's hard not to chuckle.

Not in my wildest dreams. When you actually sit back and really think about it, not even the more hard nosed Utd fan could have come up with it.

It's been fantastic to watch.

If you did't know any better you'd have thought you guys sat down and scripted it all.

His decline has been rapid. Just finished watching the game and wow, he was anonymous. Shouldn't have started really, and shouldn't have lasted the 90. Where was Lucas? Would have been the better choice. Anyway, farewell Stevie!

Lucas got injured before the game.

I couldnt have hoped to that kind of farewell in my wildest dreams. Its truly beautiful. :)

You know it's good when fan other than Utd's are laughing at him.

Which is disgusting really when you consider all that he has done for humanity.

Ah, but has he been compared to Jesus & Mandela? No. So, obviously he's fallen short.

You just know this cock will be back as a pundit.
I really hope he picks a fight with some yank for not playing Phil Collins.

I can see Frank Lampard going into punditry one day so maybe that is where Gerrad and Lampard can work together productively.

Sky cant wait to get him,oh just imagine "unbiased" panel for Super Sunday or something like that

It gets better.....

Picture this........

Chelsea are winning the league....No question about that.
Their last home game, where they will be presented with the trophy, is against Liverpool

Stevie will have to lead a guard of honour, for the champions, the same team who against he cost his club the league last year.....

Amazing :D:D:D:D:D:D

Fecking hell, the icing on the cake.

Well, the icing on the cake would be if he was doing it at Old Trafford but this'll do.

Oh right, thanks. Well still, a tree would have had better mobility than Gerrard.
Clearly you are no scholar of the game, Brentan's view on Gerrards performance...
He did everything he possibly could to help the team. I thought he was excellent today.

That statement, more than anything else, should have set alarm bells ringing all round Liverpool about Brentan's competence.

It's also the team he was going to join. This could have been his last game for Chelsea with a league title to send him off.

what's he going to say though on live tv about Liverpool's main man? he just has to bite his lip until soon out the door

You know what's funny?

You just know Stevie genuinely believed he's lead Liverpool to FA Cup glory on his birthday. He truly believed he'd score the winner and bow out a champion.

 you are making that up though surely? There is no way he honestly came out and said that.

:D

Fantastic!
This gets better and better.
Not to mention its the club he nearly went to.

I still can hardly believe the fact that after he gives a heartfelt speech about 'not slipping', he's the one that literally slips to essentially lose the title for Liverpool and prevent them from winning the thing he covets most. Who writes these scripts?

As for his last few weeks (and season) at Liverpool, 'you either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain' springs to mind.

Chelsea's last home game is Sunderland though.

I really can't believe it. It is literally the best script you could write.

He'd better not end up as a pundit. I don't care if he was a good footballer and England international, he's the most boring dour cnut in the world. It's like Alan Shearer with chronic depression.

Imagine him and Sourness next to each other. Christ.

He's utterly irrelevant to me now. Until he's on Sky in 18 months following an even bigger sycophantic fanfare than Theirry "sucks oxygen outta the room" Henry received.

Sky. The gobbers.
