FFS, how have been playing this for 12 hours and not noticed this?! So much less chaos on the screen now.

I've not had a single issue on PC. I'm running it in 4k ultra, but only at 60fps. Not sure if this is because I'm using an AMD card.

Probably also using a very good card. I've seen streamers using great cards not having problems too.

I'm using a 2070 which is beyond the minimum settings of a 1070, but even on lowest settings you get the game freezing every 20 seconds or so, when you talk to an npc, enter combat etc.

Yeah AMD card here, performance has been very good.

I've got an rx5700xt which is getting on a bit.

Have you tried the DLSS mod that's widely available now (check Nexus Mods)? That should play a bit better with Nvidia cards and moved me up to a consistent 60fps at 4k on my rig.

I have a 6650 and 12600k and I haven’t been too satisfied with the performance of it. Been tweaking things and think I’ve found a decent balance now though.

That won't be your card. Unless you have overclocks on?

Some of the settings are a bit borked, especially the shadows, so people need to mess with those. Sometimes turning stuff up helps believe it or not as you can force load onto the gpu more.

This game is definitely CPU heavy though, and contrary to the nonsense they spouted about sandwiches, the physics are pretty bog standard so it's an engine thing. The funny thing is, if they'd have built it in Roblox you'd have better performance

At least you PC lot get 60fps at times. Console 30fps is so grating. I mean, it isn’t even an immaculate looking game either.

I don't see myself ever completing this game. The side quests are so compelling and vast.
That is why I completed main quest first, and now doing all the side stuff in NG+, otherwise I would have forgot what main story is even about. Which happened to me in quite a few Bethesda games.

Or other thing happened to me before where I get burnout with so many side quests and I just rush main story to the end just to finish the game, so I took different approach this time.

The kid stuff trait is insane. Non stop gifts!

Just realised I'm level 16 and haven't reached Neon yet.

On my pc moniter which is 1080 p i get awesome fps but on my 4 k telly i get somewhere between 25-40 fps. I just feel this a game suited for big screen despite the graphics being half baked. Still it works for me.

Loving the game, but I must say, I'd just prefer a new Fallout with similar mechanics like the combat

My only, and big issue with this game is that it's so fecking big.
I'm one of them that wants to check every corner of every building. Problem with this game is, with all the travelling, all the planets, it's impossible to do. I try and just follow the quest lines, knowing that, for the most part, if it isn't in the vicinity of a quest line, it's probably not important loot, but I can't help getting side tracked.

I'd have just preferred a downward looking map, even if it was huge, but everything kept in one place.

I've been playing this for 21 hours and only just noticed there's a skill tree. I wonder how many people have spent this much time without a jetpack.

There can be a lot of dicking around on some fetch quests, but the more extended missions are excellent.

Just finished with the Ryujin Industries storyline, probably time to start the main story.

Christ almighty, have you ever played any game?

This game just vomits information at you when you're busy getting on with something for someone. I kinda knew I had points to use, but I always had something else to do first. Admittedly, I only play these games once every 15 years or so. I've gone Daggerfall to Skyrim to Starfield.

I’m 20 hours in. Still very early in the main game. Been doing loads of side quests. I’m making myself stick with it, as parts I like but I still haven’t gotten the hang of any of the crafting systems yet. Also I’ve never built a settlement. The opportunity hasn’t presented itself to me yet

the star map is dreadful and fast travelling is pointlessly awkward even after 20 hours. Constantly managing my inventory too. Fallout and Skyrim seemed far more accessible

I got married which was a relief as I just did it for the achievement. Gonna dump her now next time I play it.

does anyone think the game would be more interesting if they had alien races like in Mass Effect?

There is a mission I’m doing now, and my god I think I want to go end things.

Its supposed to be stealth and it took me 30 minutes to make it out of a bathroom because the two guards are on god mode and could sense a pube falling on a cushion from 500 yards. You can’t see them but when you open the door it’s just pot luck as to where they are.

Then I made it to another section and immediately made a save. Another 50 minutes have passed and I’ve not passed this. For some reason even though I’m full stealth they just randomly spot you. Playing computer games for 25+years and I’ve never experienced anything so infuriating.

Unequip your spacesuit and helmet

I started this the other day for a break from BG3. After a fairly slow start I’m digging it now. Lvl12 so far, spent most of my time on Neon doing the Ryujin quests. Managed to pay off the mortgage for my dream house, next stop is going to be a major ship upgrade. I am playing as a criminal/smugger so I need something with shielded cargo. I’ve already got a load off contraband waiting in my house. also spent a bit of time trying to progress the main story.

I haven’t got into outpost building yet as I already have my dream home, and it seems like you need a load of skills to even get started on outposts in any serious way.

I did that mission and was spotted loads of times, just dive into the those overhead vents and wait until they give up.

That persuasion thing is useless against guards who are levels above you. Kind of undercuts the storyline. I got through that with A LOT of quicksaving. Maybe not a mission for a level 12 player, but how would I know that by just playing the story as it's scripted?

Didn’t have them on, just got on the operative suit that is supposed to make you 25% less noticeable. I made it past that area I was stuck on by luck and am now stuck on another part on the same mission.

Yeah it’s annoying as hell, I think I might just murder everyone in the building, it seems the much easier option. I really didn’t want it to have to come to that, but if one more guard spots me they are all done for, tried to spare their lives but they are just too damn good at their jobs and now must pay.

It really is useless and I’m in the same scenario, can’t manipulate the level 20’s and I’m thinking my best option now is just kill everyone. Loving the game except for the annoying things about it like why all of a sudden did my space ports stop delivering minerals between themselves and fecking storage being full everywhere.

Definitely unequipped though, not just hidden?

Go die hard on them feck that

Yeah double checked that just to make sure and it’s all off. I think it’s been 2hrs and I’ve made it to the final bit I have to do before exiting, but after watching some “walkthroughs” what I can gather is don’t sabotage the heating and don’t do the stealth option as it’s supposedly the hardest way.

Now I just have to get past this turret and guard that are also attuned to the force.

EDIT: I finally make it past and get to the final room to find out I don’t have high enough lock picking skills to be able to disarm the alarm on the thing I was there to get. So lvl 40 dudes started showing up and I had to shoot my way out. I honestly thing I tried to stealth this for about 4hrs. What a dick of a game.

 what quest line is it?

The game isn’t built for stealth. It’s not a viable option in most situations. Run / glide and gun is the only way forward.

Yeah it just really takes you out of anything you might be enjoying and with all dialogue, entering areas with new pcs and menus all taking twice as long because of the freezing you're essentially getting half as much done making it far less enjoyable.

I'm going to reinstall Star Citizen tomorrow I think, I'm pretty sure it runs better and is visually and technically (trying to do more at once) more impressive which is crazy
Quickly checking in, gave a DSLL mod a chance and it's day and night for me now. Hadn't had many dialogues but combat was totally fluid, UI responsive as supposed to be and all that even in 4k with some reshade going on so if you haven't already I'd defo give that a look.

 My dad does things like this. I refuse to be in the same room as him when he's playing anything because it winds me up.

Last time was in The Ascent where he asked me to do a 'hard part' for him and had to query why he'd been hoarding skill points like it was wartime.

I broke my leg falling down the lift shaft.
Yeah I did exactly the same, I had a save right outside the vent there as again there were two guards that were looking down that corridor and even when their backs were turned they could sense a disturbance in the force.

I think you can but you just have to be really high level. I’ve seen people that must be playing new game + or just farming XP because they have skills and perks I have no access to and are just cruising stealth missions. There is one person who is
Basically the predator, infra red, cloaked and just sneak attacking people

I just did it this morning, liberal use of the amp thing sorted it. Only one point in the sneak tree, thought it was okay

Trying to get into this game and feeling underwhelmed. Got to New Atlanta expecting it to look amazing and my word it's shite.

I wanted to go and explore the first planet with the research station. But the ship only had one small locker and I'm full up on inventory space carrying a bunch of stuff.

I’m contemplating giving up on it and just watching the last bits on YouTube. It’s a game that’s narratively set in the future but mechanically set in the past.

My suggestion - don’t explore. Just play it from quest to quest. The game has nothing to offer in terms of exploration.

Which is bizarre as Skyrims greatest strength was its exploration.

I did warn you

Much like Skyrim, with about 100 mods it will reach it's potential.
