Television Star Trek

Finished my rewatch of TNG, even found a few eps that I had not watched.
There were more filler eps than I remember and a few I could not watch, but overall, still excellent.

I may rewatch TNG at some point. The only downside is I would get bored with some of the holodeck episodes involving the likes of Sherlock Holmes et al.

Re watched season 1 of Picard and I enjoyed it ore the second time, season 2 now, it was pretty average when I watched it the first time, let's see if I enjoy it more the second time round.

Picard 1 was fantastic imo. Season 2 was filmed during lockdown, which is why they ended up in present day LA, so they could shoot outdoors. Season 3 was ok, but the entire series sort of went out with a wimper. Stewart's aging voice was also quite annoying in contrast to his TNG voice.

Season 3 was the best by a million miles, if slightly predictable. Season 1 was meh and season 2 a derivative mess. Strange New Worlds beats all of them for my money.

Agree season 1 was fantastic, going into season 2 with an open mind, it might be better second time round.

I'll go the opposite way. I thought S3 was crap, just a bunch of fan service with a forgetable storyline. Just generally an unwatchable show for me. I didn't think much of S1 either, not even Jeri Ryan could rescue it.

Literally all I wanted. For fresh stories there are way better scifi shows out there. Better Trek shows for that matter. It was well executed fan service which isn't as easy as it looks (see Rings of Power).

Agreed on S3. I didn't particularly care for seeing ancient versions of all the old cast members. They could've used them as cameos such as they did with Riker and Troi in S2, then proceeded with a normal story.

S1 was fresh and had a great season arc imo. The ending of S1 E1 that revealed the giant cube gave me goosebumps.

I've finished Season 2, and I must admit, I didn't hate it.
I've always enjoyed the characters Q and Guinan.
Seven and the others performed well, despite the script being average at best.
I liked the use of music from throughout the Star Trek timeline
There were moments that were very good, others merely good, and some that were bad or dreadful, but the last episode was executed well.
Wesley Crusher, beyond dreadful !!

Finished Season 3 of Picard and I still think its brillant.
Was it just a Final season of the TNG , yeah of course it was , but how else where that going to finish Picard, other than with the crew of the Enterprise D, saving the Galaxy one more time and ending the Borg.
I thought the storyline was good, I did not mind that most of them were old and grey, there was everything you would want from Star Trek, I though the last 2 eps were some of the best Trek.
I think there is scope for more Trek with Enterprise G and Captain 7.
The ending round the Poker Table was the only way it could have ended and Q , they cant leave it like that.
for me it ended TNG and Picard series perfectly , I know quite a few on here do not agree with me and that fine.

I'm just on to season 3 of Enterprise, which has been better than expected. One thing stands out though. They clearly had complaints about the power ballad theme tune and, while it was good of them to respond to that criticism, they decided to make it country music instead. I do wonder if historians will look back and see this as the point that marks the beginning of the end of civilisation as we know it to be.

Finished Voyager, found season 7 disappointing TBH , there was a few decent EPs, but to much filler and I thingt the Finale was pretty poor.
Was going to do DS9 but not in the mood for any more 26 eps season.
Strange New Worlds i my next watch.

Which is your favorite so far ? I can't seem to get beyond TNG being my #1 by some distance.

TNG by a long way , I really do like Voyager and it does have some eps that are up there with the best, but season 7 was a big let down and has for the Finale, I wanted the big getting home scene with the fireworks and cheering, not the camo at the start of the Finale.
So TNG is first, but is Voyager better than the Original series, both excellent , both a good mix of good, bad and the excellent both IMHO had dreadful Finale's.
Kirk is better than Janeway, Bones is better than the EMH and Spook is obviously better than Chakotay, but Voyager had 7, but yes crew wise Original gets the point there.
Storyline wise , Orignal, yes it was a 5 year mission but each episode was a different story, but for me Voyager gets this , 75 years from home, battling to find shortcuts worm holes anyway to get home quicker, I think you got better crew development in Voyager, Neelix maybe the best development from a bumberling trader to trusted crew member to Ambassador in the delta quadrant, so that 1 - 1
Ships, Enterprise over Voyager , first thought would be Voyager, more advanced better design everything but it would be , Kirk did thing wit Enterprise that should have destroyed it. Draw for me, 1.5 -1.5
So that leaves it down to personal taste, The first two seasons of Voyager are exceptional and some of the best Star Trek outside of TOS. Seasons 4 and 5 decent, 6-7 on the whole a bit meh with the odd jewel.
I thought getting rid of Kes was a mistake, but adding 7 was a masterstroke.
It had a good villain in Seska.- The Kazon weren't that great, but the Vidiians had promise. So thats a win for Voyager giving them the win 2.5 - 1.5.

I did enjoy Voyager I found the Doctor funny, Janeway annoying until the finale funny enough, Paris quite meh, 7 awesome, Chakotay weak, Kim weak and Tuvok excellent.

I couldn't stand however Kes and Neelix. If he'd gone the same time I'd have been happier.

smart decision. DS9 is the best in my book, but it starts waaaaay slower (than other ST shows) to appreciate it in wrong mood.
Aye, DS9 is excellent and has some of the best episodes of any Trek, but it's hard to start with. There's quite a bit of crap early on, and it's harder to skip stuff than with most Trek with it being a bit more of a continuous story than self-contained episodes.

If I have to see another Bajoran spiritual mumbo-jumbo or Kira love interest episode, I'll scream.

I like Janeway Neelix and Kes, Chakotay and Tuvok I agree, Paris I quite like him, a mavrick does his own thing got into some good scrapes but came good at the end.

I also loved species 8472 wish more had been done with them - maybe in one of the movies even.

Second time watching Strange New World season 1 and I enjoyed it even more.
Liked the way they got plenty of the original series in.
One of the better eps was I though 8 , started and was thinking WTF is this, but it got much better, in the end it was pretty emotional.

I literally become an old man screaming at the TV during Neelix scenes. Start replying angrily to what he says, or just "get off my screen".
The most annoying character ever. And the writers seem to think he's obviously universally loved. For no reason.
