Television Star Trek

There's the helmswoman with the odd coloured eyes and the shaved side of her head, the robot woman, tall gangly fella with a weird head, bloke off the bridge who presses buttons, black woman who sits next to ginger helmswoman, gay doctor, gay engineer, and probably more that i can't remember.

You've missed Michael's best mate the Ginger girl who had some sort of role on the ship, she might have been an engineer? I think she went from being a trainee to second in command within a year.

The Klingon who looked Human, the Black guy who had his own ship and a cat for some reason, the first captain who was a baddie played by Jason Isaacs, whichever characters Michell Yeoh played, the non binary person, their girlfriend who was a ghost or something, the girl who couldn't breathe air, grumpy female engineer, Fish Guy, Asian guy, Asian Girl, Blonde girl.

Couldn't tell you one of their names, but it's easy to see why they didn't have time to flesh any of these characters out and give them some back story.

You forgot the confused Trill that has like 2 seasons.

Jason Isaac captain and Michelle Yeoh was the only good(ish) season really.

No recollection of hardly any of them.

Picard is easily the worst ST. I get it that some don't like Discovery, but those who do have more to work with during the whole season. S1 or S2 for example are very consistent if you happen to like it.

it's the opposite with Picard. even those who like it would say it only has moments. like, you have 2 or 3 episodes per season that bring back old characters or something similar, but the rest of the time it's just utter garbage. Discovery was never, NEVER constantly bad like Picard S2. the whole season was simply brutal to watch and it felt like most of the episodes were written by students.

I semi-liked Picard season one. Hated season two, and semi-liked 3.

With Discovery, I never really made it out of season 1 (dabbled in a few s2 episodes). The characters and casting were so cringeworthy (nevermind the writing as well) that I couldn't go on any more.

To be fair, Picard S1 and S2 weren't great, I agree with you there, and the first season of Discovery was alright if you take out the weird Klingon bits. Everyone watching Picard really just wanted what we got in S3 and that's why S3 was the best one.

Finally watched episode 2 of SNW. That was excellent, up there with the best ever Trek for me and clearly took a lot of inspiration from Measure of a Man

Yes i thought that as well.

It amazes me that same writers and producers who created discovery seasons 3-5 and picard season 1-2 i.e. garbage managed to produce a show as good as SNW.

SNW kinda annoys me (to some extent picard season 3), cause it shows they can do it properly if they felt like it.

A future show pushing the plot forward would be cool, but they always seem to want to peel it back to Kirk times.

Yeah isn't this the 4th show focusing on the Enterprise crew?

Plus at the end of Picard it looked like they were setting up another show by renaming that ship to Enterprise.

Instead of all that silly Klingon nonsense they should have just did a 200 year jump after The Next Generation and started a new show there.

They did the whole future thing in Discovery and it was awful.

Another good episode of SNW (episode 3). Should have been a two parter to build the realtionship up more.

We think the zoom in on the watch at the end is important? An odd way to end the episode if not.

Neat episode, like the ironic 'is this New York' line.

Yeah, I liked that. Bit rough here and there, but yeah. Nice bit of character development for La'an.

I thought it was the only 'thing' she had to remember him by.

Also was there a rather large plot hole that wasnt addressed?

Where did the blonde man from the bridge and who went through the door at the university go? Was he another temporal agent?

I feel it's too early for these "pathetic" bonding episodes. I honestly feel nothing for Una and Ortegas. since almost half the season is gone, the next five episodes better be like the one with Gorn or Romulans from S1. the one with Kirk was good though.

Discovery fan?

A Star Trek show that actually uses its cast like the best Trek shows have, mental…

I really like Ortega’s character and it was nice to see different members of the crew solving the problems at hand, unlike in Disco where it’s just Michael Burnham who sorts it all

Same here. Pike clearly states Ortegas is the best option in the pilot's chair, for simple sake of the mission. Pragmatic, yet so satisfying for a crew with clear chain of command and usefulness, just like it should be in starfleet.

Nobody's superhero and even Spock sometimes is confused and looking fragile, but It balances out in different type of missions.

SNW has taken a leaf out of The Orville witj episodes that concentrate on specific crew members and its a better show for it. I couldnt name any of the crew on discovery. They were just cardboard cutouts in the Burnham soap opera.

Tilly playing the Terran captain for one scene was pretty hot NGL.

SNW #5 this show keeps on delivering top episodes, one after the other. Awesome character development going on.

IT would be, if that was actually in this show. And Ortegas is the worst one for it. She's constantly mouthing off, answering back and questioning orders. That whole exchange she had with the tech guy was mind numbingly stupid.

"Hey, dont touch that. Ive got it set up the way I like it!"
"Well, its supposed to be set up to specs..."
"I dont care. Its more efficient for me this way!"
And what should have happened next
"And are you the only one who ever pilots the ship? And even if you are, what if something happens to you and someone else has to take over? How they are supposed to pilot the ship with the controls changed, you fecking sponge?"

Or

"Lt, break Orbit and set a course of the debris field."
"Thats a terrible idea."

Go back to any other Star Trek and the answer is "Aye, sir" or they have a reason for questioning the order which they give over without trying to be snarky.

Theres lots of good things you can say about SNWs, the respect for chain of command or fellow starfleet personal is not one of them.

Feel sorry for Kirk though, they really downgraded his quarters to take out the professional grade kitchen and open fire when he takes over.
