Television Star Trek

At the end, they could have killed Worf and / or Riker, instead Denna deus ex machina's a way of saving them. Felt it negated the whole series.

A big no for me. If there's one thing I hate about returning shows, movies or characters is when they bring back those beloved characters just to kill them off. Really ruins things for me.

Agreed. Also, it's Star Trek, not Game of Thrones. Across all the proper Trek series there's not been many deaths to main characters. Spock, Tasha Yar, Dax, Data. And none of the ended up staying dead apart from Yar.

it ended up becoming kind of a closure for several past series, it's just a shame the writers didn't realize much sooner that it was always the best way from the start for this type of show. I still can't get over the S2 and how bad it actually was, and how quickly they destroyed everything they built around Borg and Q in previous shows. but, the last scene where they're playing poker again, with Picard laughing, that's everything. you kinda get it at that moment.

since Discovery is also nearing its end, SNW remains the only ST show there is. and after SNW, who knows? it will most likely be like it was after Enterprise, no ST shows at all for about 15 years.

I didn't like Andor, actually, I gave up after 5 episodes. but... similarly "slow" show could be made, like, 5 years after the Dominion war. no space anomalies or time traveling stuff, just clever written characters and more episodes this time. because that's the main problem, you can't make another DS9 and Babylon 5 in current format. 8-10 episodes per season simply isn't enough. I bet there are plenty of us who would love to watch something like that.

to be fair, Picard did start about 15 years after the Dominion war, it just felt super disconnected from everything, almost like it was 500 years in future. it's actually incredible how everyone seem to be allergic to idea about ST show being in "normal" timeline, showing familiar species, dealing with usual political issues. not everything needs to be bigger than life, not everything needs to be rewritten. the end of the universe/federation/Borg is overused card at this point. it's the normal characters and their normal lives that gave charm to the DS9/Babylon 5.

Lower Decks and Prodigy are still running. Granted one is a cartoon for adults, the other for kids. Section 31 movie on the way and Star Trek Legacy which will which continue with enterprise-g and seven of nine.

Whether the tv series Dominion War (post end of DS9) actually gets the green light from paramount remains to be seen. Also rumours that janeway will get her own show like picard, which is why she wasnt in the picard finale when it was obvious she should have been.

Difference is TNG crew are old. Patrick Stewart is 83 and has said he struggled with shooting the picard series. Just give him a on screen death rather than one thats a throw away line in a future series when he has passed away in real life of old age.

He's already died on screen at least twice (once in TNG and once in Picard).

A happy ending for one of the most beloved characters in Star Trek is fine with me. The way Picard ended was FAR more fun and enjoyable than a funeral would've been.

Dont disagree with that, but question is did they leave the TNG crew alive so they can make guest apperances in Star Trek Legacy?

No idea but even if they never use any of them again, killing them off for the sake of a shock would've been cheap, lazy and completely antithetical to the tone of Star Trek.

Hated the finale, they wasted a chance to make a great drama and went for an elongated fan service ending where everyone survived and was happy.

On the plus side, Brave New Worlds looks awesome, loved the first series.
I think after these past few years of big companies using beloved IPs to insult fans who have loved these franchises long before the people who are currently in power took charge and started saying they weren't real fans if they didn't like what they turned said franchise into, they deserved some proper fan service with a happy ending.

I'd much rather see classic characters treated the way the TNG crew here were treated than the way Luke, Leia and Han were by Disney for example.

Season 3 of Picard I thought was fecking amazing, the last 2 eps some of the best Trek ever.
For me it was more of a Final TNG season and the ending was perfection, I know some dont agree with me and thats fine.
I thought it was a better Finale than the Finale of TNG.
The Poker Game at the end Perfect .I think NCC-1701 G with 7 deserves a series" and Q is back

I thought the plot could have been so much better. I enjoyed the concept on Jack even if it required Picard to be shooting his torpedo's out at 60 years old and getting Bev pregnant into her 50s. But we can ignore that given its sci-fi. The theme of the son being some kind of Trojan horse was a fun concept even if it was a huge gamble on the Borg's end.

I thought they handled the final 10 minutes or so very well though. I also disagree with someone in here saying people should have died. It's not Trek, it's always been random red shirts or minor side characters that get taken out.

But personally I thought it was a rather messy end to the main plot. Borg Queen rather redundant. The crew on the Enterprise passing every test easily. Why would anyone doubt Data, when Geordie wished her daughter was there to do the flying?? Hello... Data is an android that got you out of trouble hundreds of times by doing the almost impossible.

Good season for a horrendously bad show. Glad they managed to rescue it as it would have been a shame.

My heart goes out to the Romulan woman who Picard unceremoniously forgot about entirely by the end of the season. Probably still waiting for him on Chaltok IV.

It was fine, but it was also pretty unadventurous. Competent fan fiction.

Give me uber asguard beams over basically doing Star Wars anyday

Call me daft and I liked how they had Chekov do a line. But shouldn't he have been dead like 100 years ago?
It was his son, he quotes his father. The name was a mashup tribute to Koenig and Anton Yelchin.

Bad writing tbf. If Checkov’s son is introduced in the first act, he should’ve gone off in the third.

Harrison Ford wanted Han to be killed off in 1983, let alone 2015!
Carrie Fischer died, should have been killed off in 8.
I liked Luke's arc in 8, especially his last fight scene, but I know SW fans didn't, whatever.

They were all treated like crap. Not one scene together because Disney didn't give a fudge about them. That's why the majority rightly crap on the sequels. Bad writing and acting is one thing, but actively taking a dump on everything that came before was the big problem.

7 was a reverent nostalgia-fest and in retrospect was the most damaging film, since it meant the entire trilogy was doomed to follow the original trilogy beat-for-beat or do something outrageous to make anything new .

He was the best character so I'm not surprised. 2nd only to Garak in all of Star Trek for me.

One thing that did make me laugh, few hits from various phaser/torpedo fire "SHIELDS AT 68%" Few more hits "SHE CAN'T TAKE MUCH MORE OF THIS, SHIELDS ARE BUCKLING"

Earth Space Dock. Entire fleet simultaneously slinging all it's got at it, and couldn't even break down the shields?
