Of course, these writers don't really care about cannon. So it would only be fitting someone else comes along later and ignores this dog shit.

I think Paramount / Hollywood are trying to make up to Will for how they treated him back in the day and now after all this abuse stuff has come out, maybe they want to make amiens in some way.
I was actually kind to this show before, but this is just... I have no words. I remember being picky in past and actually criticising Voyager, but man, majority of these episodes would be rejected in those years. seriously, opening and final episodes of each season are probably the only good episodes in whole show. which means, from 20 episodes in total there are about 15 of them that are boring or simply bad. that episode with Picard as a kid running from "monsters" with his mom... I think it was around 15th minute when I lost my focus almost entirely. it was still running on TV, but I was actually reading that thread about Mctominay not making a successful pass until very late in the game vs Chelsea. tragic.
majority of stuff happening on the screen had no meaning to me, but not only because of bad writing, characters and acting. it's all bad, sure, but the worst thing is the fact Picard feels entirely disconnected from the whole ST universe. you don't even feel like you're watching Star Trek. it's butchering Borg. it's butchering Q. you simply don't do that. you also get a feeling it's happening about 500 years in future, when in reality, the show starts only about 15 years after Dominion War/Voyager returning home. all that was happening in those series feels completely irrelevant. it's so disconnected from everything seen before it's unbelievable.
that movie "The Man from Earth"... imo, Picard should have taken similar path. it was always more of a closure than a typical ST show anyway. just gather all the familiar faces for one last time and give us reflection on everything that has been happening after TNG/DS9/VOY, not this rewriting history bullshit. I'm actually glad that S3 is also going to be the last. I don't want to watch something because I feel obliged to in a way, the same way I "need" to finish The Walking Dead. at least Strange New Worlds will have easy task improving on this. there's no way it will be this bad.

Enjoying the 2nd episode .... This show has the right balance again that is Star Trek.
Yeah both episodes have been very good so far. Good writing and balance among the characters.
One more watchable episode and I could call this somewhat decent promise of a ST show. This is just a first season and this can easily go Discovery route (drama oversaturation) after some time, but so far it's fairly a steady start with campy tone, just like original from 1966.
T'was almost awkward to see no overly doom vibes with annoying characters out of place. Pike just wanting to know his crew more makes the whole thing look natural for any federation ship with chain of command. Amazing how simple premise can be rewarding.

Really enjoyed the first two episodes of SNW. Far better than Discovery and Picard for me. Feels like proper Trek.

The pacing was a little off this week, but I will echo the sentiments that this is a refreshing return to proper Treking.
Trek is back.... fingers crossed.
I love the Enterprise scenes and the shoot out in space.. been ages since we have had decent affects and a battle that isn't just over the top like all the other shows.

I think the return to stand alone episodes instead of season arks has definitely helped. After watching the past two series, I've had enough of season long stories that flatter to deceive.
They actually have likable characters too, I like that it isn't "all about Pike" show. It's far more of a crew show.
Agreed. There isn't a single character that annoys me so far, unlike Discovery and Picard, where half the cast were cringeworthy and ruined every scene they were in.
How are the Brits watching this at the moment?
Haven't seen SNW yet but this was definitely one of the issues with Picard - they tried to shoehorn the setting and characters into a style of show which didn't suit it, and in doing so they lost the stuff which made TNG good.
A decent rule of thumb for a Star Trek series should be "If something like The Measure of a Man or Darmok would feel really out-of-place in this show, we've done something wrong". There are definitely DS9 episodes I could have subbed in there as well, but I'm well into a TNG rewatch so they're two that spring to mind.
Agreed, season arks are just so overdone nowadays and causes a lot of filler episodes.
Boba Fett was 7 episodes, 2 didn't even feature him (the best ones) and they had a filler episode and then 4 episodes directed at him, which is just madness.
Agree with everyone regarding SNW. Two top episodes, a likeable crew (I didn’t get discovery vibes) and there’s really good potential for this to be a good series. My only criticism of the last ep was that it concluded everything too quickly. I would have liked the religious element and how they tackled it fleshed out a bit more. Their plan was smart but I felt it was off the cuff. A minor minor thing.
The only thing that worries me about the future is I had a look at the writing team and it changes virtually every episode. I hope I’m wrong but usually when a show does this it becomes disjointed fast as everyone has different views of what character development should look like. Hopefully they have someone who’s linking it all together

I have a rule. When it comes to knowing what's absolutely terrible and mind numbing I have that legend named Pauldy to think for that rule.
If I want a trashy horror film, then his son knows the way. For all else, and really that includes every media possible, then his son also knows that way too...you just go the other way.

Finished season 2 of Picard, after the reviews on here, was not expecting much.
I thought it was OK, first couple of eps where I thought good, after that it sort of lost its way.
I enjoyed the mentions of previous Star Treks.
The guy with the Getto blaster from Star Trek IV was funny.
Q was a let down, was expecting more from him, quite liked Soong has a baddie, Whoopie was OK, liked the younger version better.
Wesley Crusher, worst acting ever, could he have been any more wooden !
Will Project Khan be the basis for season 3 ? But what ever it is about, the old TNG crew back it should be pretty good.
First 2 eps , 8/10 for both, the rest are 6 at most, Finale a 7.

A really good episode again. Love the ole virus type episodes. Not totally sold on why they needed to reveal the child so quickly though, but I guess following the episode by episode format they wanted to seal the storylines for the episode.
Enjoying how the characters seem to be the main focus of each episode and the storyline is just a vehicle for the characters rather than the other way round.

Sounds like a massive fail on the part of Paramount. They are launching Paramount + in the UK on 22 June. They should've simply moved the launch date up to coincide with the SNW premier, and in the process, gotten more subs. Its apparently already available in Scandinavia and Oz.
