Spurs officially departed tonight

I like Mourinho, and granted they're missing some key players, but it really seems like he's made them so much worse. He never should have gone there in the first place. It was a sinking ship and now the blame is going to be all on him.

After we lost to Sevilla in 17/18 CL he went on a rant in the post match presser about the club's "football heritage" and shat all over the club
HIs post sevilla press conference talking about Uniteds heritage.

Edit: What Nick said above ha

Cheers guys I remember now, I think I blocked that shit away in my head at the time.

Instead of moaning about the injuries he's got (which are pretty bad to be fair) he should approach the top 4 as a difficult but not impossible challenge. I think Spurs are one of the few contenders who have no other cup competitions left.

Edit. Just looked at their remaining fixtures. Ouch! They need Kane and Son back fast.

Honestly bizzare. I checked a Tottenham forum the other day and the majority backed him still, my word are they in for a shock.
The Spurs fans on here do, too. You'd think people would learn by now.

Should Tanganga get a retrospective ban for this? He was already on yellow iirc. Pathetic tackle.

Hope we hit them early like other teams have. They re mentally clearly very fragile right now so the last thing we ll want to do is to give them any hope there is something to be had against us. Not to mention the psychological blow we could deal them in the battle for 4th. Having said that - that probably means they re gonna park the bus Mourinbo style.

As much as I love to ridicule Mourinho.. This Tottenham team is as stripped as we were earlier in the season.

That being said, this weekend they play a team that's allowed 2 goals in 10 games and scored 24 in that timeframe. Best of luck Jose.

True. Spurs have been in decline for quite some time now. Remember them under Poch in 2019? They were pretty horrible. Since then they sold Eriksen and with Son and Kane injured thats a fecking steep drop in attacking quality.

Still though, hiring Jose as the man to turn it around was a brainless decision. Hes clearly past it

Given their recent form, we should approach our game against them on the weekend on the front foot with an intent to dominate. There's no reason we can't beat this lot on their own patch.

Not at all. He was protecting his keeper.

Thought it was more him protecting Lloris. Didn’t have a problem with it myself. One of those where it looks worse than it actually was.
He literally leaped off the ground and jumped into Upamecano. He could easily have shoulder blocked him as Upamecano has already slowed down. There was definitely excessive force used there.

Excessive force is an extremely subjective thing so while I don't agree with you here, I'm more than open to the possibility that I could be wrong. Even so, I'd still be perfectly happy with a player risking suspension to protect his first choice keeper from a serious injury, especially during an already injury-ravaged season.

Mourinho isn't as bad as this. In his defense: Spurs squad is very unbalanced. They have too few attacking players forwards in their squad.
Forwards: Kane
Wingers: Son, Bergwijn, Moura, Lamela.

Only one player equipped to play centre forward. 3 of them injured. You have to question the summer choice to buy another midfielder (Tanguy Ndombélé) rather than a striker!

Or the Jan move to buy a winger?

You don't just run in and launch yourself off the ground for a full body check. It is a foul anywhere on the pitch and a WWE wrestling move. It doesn't even matter if he's "protecting" the GK.

That was probably the best attack Spurs mustered up the entire night and it was an direct assault on an opposition player.

They really look awful. Their defense is in shambles.

We really need to beat them, but i still don't expect it to be an easy game. But if we play well, it should be in our hands.

Spurs are now so shit, that I am becoming increasingly worried about the result on Sunday. Given their recent form and our own, we really should be beating them, which makes me think we won't. It would also be typical Mourinho to get a result against his former club under these circumstances.

Hopefully the lads do not take anything for granted and play with the same focus and determination as against City.

Watching the highlights the result looks worst than the actual performance. I do think Spurs need to change the defensive approach, since despite they use a mixed marking while defending, they still have a bigger focus on man marking rather than zonal marking which leaves them over exposed to individual errors. Jorge Jesus could teach Mourinho how to do it properly.

He definitely needs help from the best manager in the world. :D

Yeah now the pressures on us, hopefully the team are so deflated that they can't be bothered to put a shift in.

Modesty was never a thing for Jorge Jesus :D but the truth is: he is considered one of the zonal marking pioneers and also using basketball and a few rugby principles on set pieces and it works a lot: 32% of Jorge Jesus team's goals come from set pieces.

I mean his assistant Rui Faria looks more and more a footballing genius as each game progresses. Since they parted ways Mourinho has struggled massively.

The highlights must’ve been very deceiving then because Leipzig toyed with them. They barely broke sweat in the second half and Spurs still never looked like scoring. Spurs were abysmal.

Having watched the entire game, it really wasn't. Leipzig was the better team by far.

No one was sypathetic to us when were playing without Rashford, Pogba, McTominay, Matic

Said this last week. It’s always been the way with United though, the fans are as much to blame. It’s amazing how much difference not having your best players makes.

Exactly. I have mentioned it before that when you have a first 11 out and out of 11, 9 are playing week in week out, the team will always look better and be more consistent.

Look at Leicester, SU, Wolves, Liverpool - Leicester hit with Ndidi and Vardy injury and have won 3/8 games. Chelsea with injuries are inconsistent.

These are facts.

Not true. Watched the game, Spurs couldn't hold the ball for more than 5 seconds. Couldn't handle Leipzig's pressing at all. I think they crossed the halfway line twice all game.
