Sorry, but why is Rashford rated here? (Read the context)

PR BS :lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:
Give over mate :lol::lol::lol::lol:

Captain conspiracy theory over here!

Rashford gives an impassioned speech about desire of the club and how the rest of the players feel.

CAF: Nah don’t buy that b*llocks. It’s all PR bull crap that!

Yeah, I’m pretty sure Rashford texted his PR before the interview and asked how best to come across on TV after a loss.

Great one.

Like you said, he gave an "impassioned," speech after a game in which he was absolutely terrible and his efforts were far from "impassioned".

If you don't find this incogruent, fair enough. I do.

Because he's English and an academy product. Nobody else gets a pass like Rashford does. Not one pundit called him out but Rio was quick to jump on Bruno at HT.

that is the most talkative I’ve ever seen Rasford speak. I wonder if there have been any bust ups in the dressing room the way he came out in the interview.

Talk is cheap, and I just said he’s been poor for us for quite some time. But, if you listen to that and say his heart isn’t in the right place then I say you’re very wrong.

We have to do better.

Sigh.

If he does have one ongoing, then he's stupid for playing through it, and the medical staff should also be sacked for allowing it, he's only damaging himself and his own career, as well as hurting the teams performances.

Honestly this injury sounds like a child in the under 11s team for their local village saying they hurt their knee or whatever because they played like crap.

Either way, he's letting the team down massively, with an injury, then he shouldn't be playing. Without an injury, his work rate is atrocious.

If I remember correctly, Pogba was hammered for wanting to have surgery by Ole and the utd folk. Think the medical staff wanted him to play through it and it was his own team that said get the surgery and he did. People them said he was getting himself ready for the Euros and didn't give a stuff about UTD.

Maybe Rashy needs to take a leaf out of Pogbas book and get it done. He will have plenty of years to play for the national team, and fully fit hopefully

It's obvious he's been playing with several injuries for months. First the shoulder and now his ankle as well I think. Also not sure how his back injury is, which was a pretty serious one. He needs to rest this summer should be pulled from the England squad along with Maguire.

As I said in the performance, Rashford isn't a bad player. He definitely has a lot of quality.

However we need to understand that he's not fecking immune to be benched or subbed off. When he's in a terrible form just bench him. When he's having an awful game just sub him off. I don't know why this is so hard.

He shouldn't be undroppable like this. He should be treated like the rest of the team. You are in good form you play, you are in bad form other players play. Bring on some sort of competition between players instead of "My Rashy shall always play" mentality.

Grealish is a beast, to be fair. You would want him either way. Only Neymar outmatches him in terms of creativity stats per 90/game (can't remember which) in Europe.

It is one thing I have never understood: why people don't want us to sign Grealish because of Rashford? Grealish would be a monstrous signing.
There's so many plusses to it. Grealish can play left and centre, meaning there's competition, rotation, backup for both Rashford and Bruno. Rashford could actually get some rest, and Bruno could too, as he surely won't be able to continue playing so much as he ages. If all are fit, we'd actually have a decent player on the bench for once (probably Rashford).

As I've said time and time again his a good player, but will never be good enough for a club who wants to win trophies. At united in the long term he should be a rotational player at most.

The problem with the "he's injured" hypothesis is that he's pretty useless for most of the second half of the season and not playing him wouldn't make much of a difference.

If he was truly injured he wouldn't be coming on when we're 1-0 up in a meaningless game against Fulham.

Rashford is sadly a player that when he is good, he becomes very noticeable, and when he is bad, he also becomes very noticeable.
I think this is likely due to him on the front, trying to break past the lines or provide an accurate cross. If he doesn't do that enough, it becomes a bad game. He is a lot like Nani. He is either a 5 or 10, but not a 7 every game kind of player.

Another thing about Rashford is that his bottom level is atrocious bad, dare I say almost Rooney final years level of bad, except that he's only in his early twenties.

Truth is, a stronger manager would have taken him out of the firing line this season when he was clearly not fit. I suppose we didn't have the options to replace him. But playing him so he played a part in all but one league this season was mental.

This. People are delusional if they think he hasn't been playing with a knock, irregardless if you think hes not a half sensible coach would've benched or pulled him in this match. But OGS didnt have the balls to do it for some reason, and by making him play through injuries (or if its his own choice) he is ruining his career and longevity.

Meanwhile some other players have abysmal records over the last 5 years or however long and cost a tonne of money and people will still defend them or foresee them as having a future as starters in our squad.

There was no lack of passion from Rashford last night, he just wasn't good enough. He tried and tried and tried. He lacked quality, not passion.

Ole will be taking the advice of the medical team and Rashford. If they give him the green light then he is right to start him/play him.

I don't know what to think about Rashford. He's done it for us in the past, he's scored good goals, is still young(ish) but seems to have hit a wall.

I find his decision making pretty average of late, plus his seeming belief that he is a natural dribbler who can go past players like Messi does extremely frustrating as so often an attack ends with him trying to fancy foot dribble past defenders only to lose the ball.

I agree that he's not the only one and that Pogba last night in particular was absent entirely, but the thread is about Rashford and he hasn't convincingly delivered for months now.

He's already passed his peak imo.
He’s played 101 games over the past two seasons despite being out for a period with a broken back, carrying a shoulder injury that needs surgery for months along with other nibbles he has played through the pain barrier with.

He needs surgery, he needs a proper lengthy rehabilitation program and if he gets both then his best years are ahead of him but I’m definitely worried he’s not going to have that luxury.

I'm going to give you some easy answers:
- he's a manc and people are sentimental
- he scores a few worldies a season
- he burst onto the scene with quite oomph
- somehow scores 10-15 a season

Why he shouldn't be rated at all:
- 0 decision making
- when he receives the ball and starts shoving his head down and bombing towards defenders his chicken brain takes over
- is selfish
- has very little attacking combination knowledge
- left foot is kinda gash
- shoots from everywhere
- fecks a lot of our attacking play
- even when on form he does jack shit for 60-70% of the season

Remember when Nani was doing some of the above shit under SAF? This forum was absolutely livid. But Rash is a manc and fans are blinded by his persona when judging his football talent.

It's an example. One example. I'm sure there have been others throughout the season. Games where he could've come off earlier than he did. Ole managed Cavani well generally this year, you have to manage Rashford as well, if it's true about the injuries.

For my money, watching him all season, it's looked clear he isn't 100%. The back injury worried me.

To be fair it's the same example everyone comes up with including myself because there weren't many other obvious places to rest him.

But little micro rests here and there aren't going to fix these injury problems anyway? Only an extended rest period and maybe surgery would do that.

So my point is this debate about giving him 20 mins off here and there is irrelevant. It wouldn't solve anything.

Rashford is class. He's not to blame for anything last night.

He has a lot of ability to create things out of nothing. A bit part of the negative perception is him trying too hard at times, not making the simple pass when needed. He has a certain body language as well after things don't go his way that might be misinterpreted.

I think he just needs to add a bit of mental toughness to his game, Ferdnandes is a great example to learn from in terms of a creative player who doesn't always get the right thing but strikes the balance well between trying something himself with more of a simple pass/move to keep things going.

Bit part of the disappointment is we need/want him to be a 30 goal/season type who is consistent, big game player, and it seems like his trajectory towards that isn't there yet.

Maybe needs a rest if there is an ongoing physical issue plaguing him. I'm glad he plays for us though still.

Not sure why he keeps trying to dribble. He gets dispossessed constantly

He has good end product

Which is peculiar. Until this season he was brilliant running at players and being a nuisance but couldn't be relied on to finish his dinner. Now he's become far more productive and clinical but useless everywhere else.

I have always thought he will eventually end up as a rotation player for us. Not quite a squad player but not a guaranteed starter either.

This faith that he must be injured or carrying a knock or being played out of position or having a lot of things on his mind, is admirable but if he was playing well as the response to anyone who suggests he isn’t would suggest, why do all these excused exist for him?

He’s been gash for ages. Badly needs a rest, or some competition. We’ve played 61 games this season, and he has to be in the high 50s himself. I don’t think James is any less effective on the left when he’s in this form.

He's productive. In fact he's probably increased his productivity this season despite his less than stellar form given he gave up penalty duties to Bruno upon his arrival last year.

Beyond that, he's a team player. By which I mean he's stuck out being overplayed while injured and in poor form for long chunks of the season. And he's shown nerve in big moments in the past, so he's a character you'd want in a penalty shoot-out type situation.

That's plenty of reason to rate him. Just how highly we should rate him is up for debate but he's a damn good footballer, just one who has had produce through some poor form.

He’s as far from a team player as we have in the side. He looks like he couldn’t give a toss unless he’s on the ball. If he’s throwing a strop for being played out of position he probably covers less ground during a game than De Gea

Part of the blame for Rashford's endless running into full backs has to lie with his instructions from Ole. I'm sure he isn't trying to take a man on every time he has the ball for the fun of it, surely it is instructions from the manager to test the full backs every time (rightly or wrongly).

That happened a long, long time ago, he seems to think he's some sort of CR7 clone.

Ronaldo worked hard. Watching Rashford is often like watching Eric Cantona come out of retirement for a charity game .

I think fans have a hard time accepting he isn’t the player they had faith he’d become

You only have to see the glances of visceral anger Cavani shoots his way on a regular basis to see he really isn’t a player performing anywhere near the top level.

I agree, when you see a 34 year old Cavani charging around the pitch for 120 minutes, yet Rashford is strolling, something isn't right.

He seems to think he's bigger than that and shows barely any fight, watching him go into a 50/50 I always know he's going to shirk out of it, whether it's on the ground or in the air. Any defender that's aggressive towards him from the off has him in their pocket.

I know the thread is about Rashford but he isn't the only one that was strolling around. Cavani was the exception. The whole team needs a fire lit under their arses.

When you put it like that, it's absolutely ridiculous.

Completely mis managed the situation/

Fair point.

Greenwood was far better although not spectacular. Should have been Rashford hooked not Greenwood.
Greenwood was completely finished by the time he came off. He was running on fumes after putting in a shift up and down the line for nearly 2 hours. Rashford is afforded the luxury of conserving his energy and that’s why he lasted the full match.
