Son worshippers: Manchester United and Chelsea both fancy Hamburg star Son Heung-Min
16 Feb 2013 23:00

The 6ft-plus South Korea international can play up front or as an attacking midfielder and has been compared to Cristiano Ronaldo - watch him here

Manchester United and Chelsea are going head-to-head for the signing of Son Heung-Min – the rising South Korean star of the Bundesliga, writes the Sunday People.

Sir Alex Ferguson’s scouts are camped out at Hamburg for the exciting young attacker, who could be sold for around *£10million this summer.

And Rafa Benitez’s Chelsea – who would love an Asian idol in their squad – are also keen on the youngster, whose *dazzling skill and goals are being compared to *Cristiano Ronaldo.

The tall 20-year-old has been a regular for the South Korean national side since his debut three seasons ago.

Hamburg coach Thorsten Fink relies heavily on Son’s versatility *already and the youngster has *delivered regularly, *notching one goal in three in one of the best leagues in Europe.

Son can play anywhere up front, or even as an *attacking midfielder, and at 6ft-plus he is also a physical presence.

Fergie has sent the Old Trafford club's top scouts to watch Son recently and he could find a place in his squad – and also appeal to the commercial side at Old Trafford.

Chelsea are even more aware of Son’s *attraction in the Far East, where he could easily become the most significant *player in the next *decade if he continues to improve.

The Stamford Bridge club's owner Roman Abramovich has never exploited that lucrative market and his spies are also raving about the Hamburg star’s ability, making him a likely *summer target.

First Park then Kagawa and now Son.

Third time a charm (maybe).

The player who'll inspire his national team to missing out on National Service

How did you reckon he's a striker?

If you've seen him play, then that's another thing though.

Alan Nixon is quite reliable btw.

I believe its correct to call him a striker as that seems to be by far his most natural position.

The little i've seen of him(streams) this season thats where he looks to have been played. Looks as much a ACM of winger a Welbeck does to be honest. I'm not sure why we would make him a priority as I think Danny will be the better player.

Winger/Striker Hybrid. Well, we can never have enough of them. :p

are you being serious?

1) Park wasn't a bad buy, sure he didn't set the world alight, but he contributed and wasn't really costly to begin with.

2) Kagawa hasn't been here for even 1 full season (and spent almost half of it on the treatment table). I don't know what sort of logic you use, but in my case the jury's still well and truly out on this one.

It's vital to sort out the Asian markets if we are going to have a chance against Barcelona in the next 5 years.

He has been fairly prolific this season, he has a lethal shot on him.

Has decent pace, dribbling to play across the frontline, but I wouldn't be too sure of his best position. Probably somewhere across the front 3, but not as an AM.

Well I would probably compare him to Danny Welbeck in terms of versatility, they can both play out wide or a bit deeper but it never feels right for them somehow.

He sure can play on the wings and even in an attacking midfielder position but I think he is actually best used as a striker I always felt he played his best games when playing as a striker.

He has a great shot and is very fast but the rest of his game isn't that great that I would say he is especially suited to the other positions he played in this year.

Park could barely hand the physicality in the Premiership. Kagawa (spelling?) is having the same issues... See a pattern here?

He did brilliantly for us for the majority of his time here....so no I don't see a pattern. Must be your lack of logic

I would be shocked to see Fergie sign any "front 4" players this summer. Not including Zaha obviously.

I think he will concentrate purely on CM, maybe full backs and then a few youngsters.

Park was a quality player for us, had a bad final season when his legs have gone and people are rewriting history to suggest his career with us was like that, when in actual fact he was a player SAF would often turn to in the big matches.

No. How stupid you are.

Only person coming across as stupid here is you mate. You genuinely believe that Park was a bad signing, and are writing Kagawa off after his first season?

Ridiculous how underrated Park is. There was a reason he was picked in the biggest games, and was usually amongst our best performers in them.

You're a Ihni binni dimi diniwiny anitaime. Hope that helps.

Park played in over 200 games for the club, scored 27 goals, for 7 seasons in an era we were quite successful. He was regular starter in our CL campaigns where we reached like 3 finals.

I think your whole point is quite a bit bollocks..
