If Ruud were to leave, I would cry like a baby. I'd probably pissed with Utd. for a while and lose interest in football altogether, for a few months. As for Keane goin', there is no chance in hell that it is happening. My guess is that it is more likely to be Butt or one of the Nevilles. They might not be as "inspirational" as Keane, but they still are fledglings, which makes them an integral part of the team. Hopefully, it is Fabien Barthez or Veron - they are inspirational, but they are not as important as Ruud.

However, the speculation is that an announcement will be made on 5th June about an inspirational United player that will STUN many people(not SHOCK). There is a difference, which may mean that Stam is the player, returning to Utd. after apology, etc, which will be fantastic.

If the board were idiotic enough to sell RVN then I'd have to buy the PLC someday to make Utd. a football club rather than a profit oriented organisation. However, with RVN's season being so great, the board would be darn daft to sell him, because merchandise sales would dip. Even Ronaldo will not be able to make it up. I doubt it would be Keane, Giggs, Becks or Scholes. Becks and Keano have new contracts, but the other two are just as valuable as Becks, if not more.

anyway if the tabloids could be trusted ;) , i remembered someone from real madrid saying that they could not spend, i mean splurge like they did in previous seasons. Obviously they lacked the financial power at the moment. So that means Real Madrid is out of the equation for Ruud as presumed by somebody in this forum... innit? :D

Blanc to stay?

Blanc's performance in the latter part of the season was nothing short of "inspirational". And if he is to delay his retirement for a year or so, this will surely "stun" us.

It's the news that Disco has been sold to Grimsby for a bag of boiled sweets.

COULD THIS BE FERGIE HINTING AT MAJOR CHANGES IN THE TEAM:

Sir Alex Ferguson could be set to smash United's transfer record this summer as he bids to strengthen The Reds' squad ahead of the new season.
Last summer, the outlay was around £50million for Juan Sebastian Veron, Ruud van Nistelrooy and Roy Carroll, but this time the United boss may go beyond that as he looks for players to bolster the Reds' defence.

He is giving no clues about who he is chasing although there has been strong speculation that Leeds United's Rio Ferdinand and Lilian Thuram of Juventus are his main targets.

Ferguson stated: "We have some hopes but there are several difficulties with bringing in players nowadays. First of all it's money, some players are over priced.

When you see £48 million spent on one player, as Real Madrid did with Zidane last season, you know you're in a game where it becomes very difficult to get the very best players unless you go to that level.

"Salaries, agents, the fee - all these things come into the equation when you are looking to bring in new players but we are looking at a few things.

Over the years people have sometimes seemed surprised with certain decisions I've made over players, but I always do what I hope is best for the team," he told the club's official magazine.

maybe could be scholes/veron leaving to inter in a part exchange deal involving ronaldo + maybe 15 million?????????

You fool, Ronaldo shirt sales would double or triple RVN shirt sales...within 60 days of release.

I don't believe RVN or Keane are leaving OT. If I had to speculate, I would guess one the midfield rotation- Butt, Veron, Scholes. Veron is not "inspirational" but Scholes and Butt are. My guess would be Scholes. However, I'm not worried right now, I'll wait until 5 July to see if anything actually happens.

Given all the rumours that have going around, I was a bit worried when I saw this piece too. But when you look at the actual article in United's magazine, Fergie was answering a direct question about criticism he's recevied for trading Stam and bringing in Blanc. Viewed in that context, the quote doesn't look so bad.

Butt would be more likely in my opinion, he's had a great world cup and some italian club might have offered a fair bit of cash for him.

Roger Lemmere is quitting the France Job on July 5th. Maybe they mixed Manchester United and France up!!

i've heard from a few peeps that there's sommat major happening on July 5th

most probably BS tho'... i hope.

The one most people are worried about is that Keano is retiring.

They are worried because its the one with most concrete behind it so to speak.

Just gotta wait and see, if he wants to leave he will leave. Life goes on, and he shouldnt play if the heart isnt in it.

If he is sold, then Fergie is da man, he wont let us down.

That goes for any player.

Altho this whole thing comes from 1 person saying "something is gonna happen on July 5th from an inspirational player blah blah.

Its driven the whole internet crazy with just one sentence.

Red News have then figured it may be a signing instead. So this whole story is bent, not worth worryin about.

What we should worry about are Keano leaving and Fergie/PLC selling Ruud - which I believe are unrelated to this JULY 5TH and I believe have some truth to them. Nothing decided, just ongoing situation.

To be honest, ShAoLiN_ChRoNiC, I don't think anything is concete. Just a pack of rumours. What's so 'concrete' about Keane retiring? Just three or four months ago he signed a new contract. Yes, he had a blast with the Irish FA, but he's got United behind him, as always.

Same goes for Ruud Van Nistelrooy. Unless people on forums started rumours such as 'He might be going, he IS going' we wouldn't talk about RVN leaving as a decent possibility.

As for July 5th, when do we start pre season trainings? ;)

Over each of the past summers I've seen a few 'target dates', which something big was definately going to go down that day. Doesn't happen.

The papers always say Manchester is the least likely place to run into United fans. Does this mean its not just transfer news they get wrong? If you cant trust the investigative journalists of the British tabloids, who can you trust?
