Solskjaer target 5 signings; 6 players could leave [BBC, Telegraph, Guardian]

I'd take it.

Sick of our current players. I'd rather be disappointed by new players than by the same ones who have been disappointing for years.
Think it through though mate. We need 2 CMs with Pogba. Bruno can't be his fecking replacement. We would need another.

You didn't get me. You implied the club would buy no one if Lukaku and Pogba stayed which would be very risky going into the 'ew season for me.

Pogba clearly doesn't want to stay. Why keep him?

Also, is your name from Jeweller's Hands, Humbug? :D

Ah. I agree.

Plus those two want to leave anyway. And one of them definitely isn't professional enough to put in the effort when he doesn't feel like it.

Solskjaer, phelan, me, you... Every fan. We're being taken for a fecking ride. Get your heads out of the sand. Woodward and glazers and milking every last ounce and couldnt give a shit where the club is in 5 years.

I've said it before I'll say it again. A mass protest is the only way to see some change. Let them start the season in front of an empty Stretford end with a clear Woodward out protest in the place of fans.

Or go on blaming manager after manager and ultimately honest players who just aren't good enough.

Not saying keep him. Saying that our midfield going from having Herrera and Pogba to Longstaff and Bruno is unacceptable. Atleast bring another in another to offset the huge loss. 2 in and 2 out for those would see us much worse in midfield.

And yes, yes it is.

Maguire, Wan Bissaka, Longstaff and Daniel James... Who do you think it would be the 5th player Ole wants to sign?

Was really positive when I thought we were getting in 5 players, Really thought that Woody has finally saw some sense and was willing to listen to someone who actually had some football knowledge of which I think Woody has feck all. Not looking as if we are going to get the 5 players but there is still a bit of time left in the window so I'm hoping for big things from Woody.

Lads, we've been sold a pup again. One more signing maximum, and even that remains to be seen if the club can complete it. Nobody will leave.

So far it's the exact same scenario as last year.

50m starter and 15-20m prospect. Both signed in june.

July being the pursuit of high priced players that we eventually decide against.

Next year after he has a stormer at the Euros and is possibly worth about £150m on the back of an amazing season for Dortmund.

Sancho is already worth 150m to Dortmund in this market. Why would BVB sell Sancho for less than what they sold Dembele for? Why knows what he would cost next year if his career keeps progressing at the current trajectory.

Good post particularly agree with the part in bold. Sick of this shit show we've been served up and forced to eat if it is a 5 star meal for the past few years. They do so much fecking milking they should start their own dairy company and call it Glazer's Wood. Agree with you that something needs to done to get these leeches as far away from the club as possible.

I thought he would be worth bout £120m now. But I think you could have fair point on the £150m especially as they don't need to sell. Haven't got a clue how much he would be worth next year. Even if we do go for hi he is most likely to cost our whole budget and probably a bit more considering how Woody operates mate.

Same shit, different year and zero signs of anything changing.

Sums it up pretty neatly. Can’t see things being different with these owners. Don’t underestimate the extent to which no CL football limits their ambition.

I'm starting to wonder if we will manage to sell anyone! We're rubbish at it.

It's Darmian that makes no sense.
He featured about 6 times last season and has to be on say 3-4m a year.

It surely is better to ship him for a few mill now, and save that 3-4m, then have him hang about as 4th choice right back, then pointlessly ask 10-12m that no one will pay, before eventually he leaves on a free.

Otherwise everyone loses.

Yep totally agree

The thing is if you were an Italian buying club (the only market for him if we're lucky) you would wait until the last minute to make a bid knowing we've got barely any bargaining power. They've even got 3 more weeks after our window closes to make a bid.

We surely aren't asking much.

6m or so, and they can have him! With his wages that's a 10m gain.

If we don't bring in 2 top midfielders to replace Herrera and Matic then I don't expect any improvement in where we finish in the table this season.

Would really like to see him gone. Didn't still think he would be around now.

The only consolation would be that our competetors for 4th place have also failed to strengthen. It would also confirm that the club does not give a feck about winning titles. Fred, Matic, McTominay are hardly even mid table players.

I agree that we need replacements. Sadly I have a feeling it may not happen. Maybe Woody thinks we have sufficient quality already in the squad. Seriously hope not, in my opinion Matic can't be relied on to be a regular starter due to his legs going and I think he should have been shipped out this summer but as he's staying, I think he should definitely go next year. I think we should just keep Matic for the big games. I think we should be able to rely on him to be able to play full game at high intensity once in a while mate.

Yeah, the lack of urgency is worrying. We're 4 weeks from the window being closed and we still need 4 or 5 players across all lines. Defensively we're leaky and though we've signed AWB which is a good step to improving that department but we are desperate for a centre back and seemingly only want Maguire who will cost a record fee. We lack quality and depth in midfield so we definitely need two, if Pogba goes we need 3. Can't persist with Matic and Fred.

The state of our attack is also dire, there simply isn't enough goals in these players. Lukaku is going and I don't trust Martial or Rashford to be our main goal threats throughout the season, Lingard and Mata don't bring enough to the team, and it's asking a lot of guys like Greenwood and James to step up to the PL and score regularly. Sanchez is a lost cause at this point. No senior right winger at the club and for whatever reason we are again ignoring this position again (a decision that will cost us top 4) and we need a reliable goalscorer to take over from Lukaku.

I understand we cannot do everything in one window but we have brought in 2 players in the last 2 months and held on to so much dross that needed to be sold. We'll see maybe 2 more additions and don't expect more.

This is depressing. I believe we will forever be behind Barca and Madrid. Look st what Madrid did after a poor season. Barca saw it fit to strengthen after winning the league with De Jong and Griezmann.

Manchester United must just look beyond the EPL for players.

We always seem to put business on hold whilst we are on tour. We try to do our business early, before tour, otherwise it'll be nearer the deadline.

You make some good points. Hoping we sign a few quality players in these next couple of weeks or if not I fear we will struggle next season. Agree fully with the part in bold. It does seem as if we are taking a long time to get transfers over the line.

Matic' legs are gone and I think he should just be kept for big games in my opinion then sold next year, although I think we should have tried to offload him this summer. It seems obvious to everyone besides Woody that we need a quality right winger. I think we may go all out for Sancho next year which presuming he actually wants to come will be for an astronomical fee, which will probably be the equivalent of our entire budget, should he have another brilliant season in the Bundesliga and also shines at the European Championships. If he does have a good Euros, I think a few the other big sides will be in for him, which in my opinion will give us even less chance of signing him.

Really hoping to get rid of Lukaku quick but I fear this may drag on towards the end of the window leaving us little time to get in a replacement, what I fear the worst is that when we do sell Lukaku that Woody thinks we have enough firepower already, so that we don't need a replacement. If it does happen I think would be very poor judgement on his part.

With Bissaka's signing and the return of tuanzebe CM is becoming more urgent than CB

Woodwards transfer dealing are historically poor. He is unable to achieve signings in a workable time frame. Last pre-season Jose was moaning about not having the players in he wanted for the start of the pre-season camp. We complained he was just a grumpy shite, but then the season turned out to be dreadful.

Ole said there would be a bunch of players in and a bunch of players out this pre-season. Neither has happened so far. The club/Woodward just don't learn.

Hope you are wrong with your point in bold but seems as if it going to be that way for a long time. I thought that as we didn't qualify for the Champions League this year, that we would splash a fair amount of cash to get back in it, which obviously hasn't happened yet. This is making me quite nervous but we have a few weeks left of the window so hopefully Woody surprises me and pulls off something special mate.

Particularly agree with your point in bold. I think he should have signed the players Ole wanted before pre-season to enable them to get used to Ole's methods and give more time to gel with the team. This would have given Ole a much better platform to succeed and I think this is somewhere Woody has massively let him down. I hope it doesnt happen but fear Woody will try to make Ole a scapegoat if everything doesn't turn out well mate.

It's beyond scary that I personally think we'll go into the season without replacing Herrera. Going into yet another campaign with such woefully low expectations and hopes is sad.
