Solskjaer target 5 signings; 6 players could leave [BBC, Telegraph, Guardian]

The year we finished 2nd, Lingard managed to get 20 goals and assists and people still cried. Good luck to Ole.

Is that true? If so, I think this should indicate that Lingard is capable of upping his game. Maybe even getting 20+ goal involvements per league season.

In all competitions, yes.

Based on what we've seen so far, I'm expecting Pogba to leave, possibly Lukaku/DDG too, but not till quite close to the window closing with them being big deals that we'll haggle over a lot. We'll maybe get AWB over the line but won't have time to replace whichever of the trio leaves.

I'm expecting a very hairy season ahead and a real battle to stay out of the bottom half of the table is entirely possible with an inexperienced manager, friction within the club and a dressing room that seems unmotivated at best. We might be in for a long period in the wilderness.

This. We are absolutely fecked. I do not even get stressed about United any more. Incompetent tosspots on the board, in the dugout and on the pitch.

Back from work and still nothing concrete. It was a shit busy day as well. Whiskey and a wank, I reckon.

I hope you're right! Greenwood and Gomes could well save us a fortune
Greenwood yes, Gomes I feel that something is not working with him, he's always one tempo late in the EPL games. I don't know if he can correct that.

News coming out that we rejected a swap deal (Pogba/Neymar) with PSG as UTD fear more than 500K a week salary to Neymar only cause further divide between players salaries.

I am glad to hear we are rejecting Bale/Neymar type signings and it gives me this feeling we are finally started moving in right direction.

If we plan to sell Pogba, maybe we could do this trade, and sell Neymar to Barca for more than Juve or Real can/wants to pay for Pogba?

Making good strides this summer. 3 in so far already James, Hannibal and Mata. Just need to secure a CB and Longstaff then we are sorted. In terms of outgoings, Valencia, Herrera, Pogba, De Gea and Lukaku and that will make it a pretty successful summer for Ed and the Glazers and the BBC who triggered this scoop.

Maybe he is, the problem is that he’s a massive whopper though.

I don't know, we are still going after the obvious hype signings with Maguire, Bissaka and fernandes that all have over inflated prices, if the club really wanted to make a statement it would pull away from these deals and go a little more left field and bring targets that are true value for money and there are players that can potentially be as good as these three mentioned at sensible prices, then in future othere clubs will know we wont entertain silly valuations anymore.

What like Lindelof and Bailly?

It seems they can't win here.
Go the expensive option=oh, look we are going after hype again.
Left field=Daniel James=we are going to be a midtable team.
Buying Bailly/Lindelof=didn't back the manager.. What

It looks to me like the market is trying to right itself with no one wanting to pay ott fees, only problem is every one is also trying to sell at the same ott prices.

This right here. It's common sense as well. Why waste time on targets that are too expensive? It's not like they're world class as well. There must be other solid options out there. I mean is there no one at United who can suggest this?

This is how to fix the current squad and take us back into firm top four territory:

Pogba wants to leave? Tell Real Madrid they can have him for 125-150 million, no hard feelings.

Crystal Palace want 50 million straight for AWB instead of add-ons? Give it to them so we can move on from RB.

Leicester want 80 million for Maguire? Good player but a bit too much for him, might as well add an extra 20 million to get Koulibaly and then pay 25 million for Alderweireld so we have extra cover at CB.

Then get Longstaff and Fernandes in for a combined 100 million to sort out the midfield.

Finally bid big to get Sancho in for 100 million+ to sort out the right wing. Club could do with a signing like that after the shambles of the last 6 seasons.

Total cost: 375 million. But there are a lot of players we can sell to bring the net spend down significantly. Basically, if we sell Pogba, DDG, Lukaku, Sánchez, Darmian, Young, Rojo and Jones we should get back upwards of 300 million, which would take the net spend into a mere 75 million!

Starting eleven:

Martial Rashford Sancho (James, Greenwood, Lingard)

Fernandes (Mata)

McTominay Longstaff (Fred, Matic)

Shaw Koulibaly Lindelöf AWB (Williams, Alderweireld, Smalling, Dalot)

Henderson (Romero)

^That team right there would get straight into the top four, at the very least. I also don't see why any of those signings would be unrealistic targets.

Loan out the rest of the Academy players. (Some of them, like TFM and Pereira, we could *maybe consider* selling, but only with a buy-back clause).

Stop playing fm

There is nothing wrong with expensive signings if it is in the realm of value, like sancho for 100 million if he wanted to come here for the right reasons, pogba for what we paid for him and seem to at the time want to come back to United, even Di Maria was a fair price though we should of stayed clear when it was known he was more interested in going to PSG before we brought him, but Lukaku for 80 odd million plus Rooney thrown in as well, Real Madrid that time when they quoted like 70-80 million for Morata and to think there were plenty of United fans at the time acting like he was something special and demanding we should just pay the fee, Maguire 80 million when his defensive partner who cost next to nothing in Evan's has shown statistically what a big improvement he has made to Leicester's defence since coming in.

You have to look at the overall picture of making sure we aren't getting screwed over by the selling club and the players have a real desire to join United rather than making do and to be fair to Bissaka he does seem like someone that would want to come to us for the right reasons and wouldn't demand silly wages but Palace are really taking the piss with their demands at this point with 50 million up front, plus add ons and righting off zaha's clause which could make our club 10-20 million when he is sold off by palace which will probably happen soon otherwise why bring it up.

I'm not against about signing championship players or low profile players. But we need starters for the first team.

It's unrealistic to sign 6 players, but I we could get 3 of them this transfer window

If we can't get Sancho, then, players like Chiesa or Pepe would improve our right wing.
If we sell Lukaku, we can use that money to buy one of them.

We definitely need a midfielder. Pogba, a new midfielder and one of Mctominay/Fred/Matic/Pereira would be decent for the new season.

Finally, we could buy Wan Bissaka, our use that money to sign Alderweireld and Meunier to improve our defense.

Next season, we could buy another center back, a new midfielder (or 2 if Pogba leaves) and Sancho.

If we do that, we would rebuild our team with talented young players.

You are a good man, doing that after coming back from work, A guy from upper flat brings in his work colleague in lunch hour everyday and makes hell lot of noise, It is increasingly difficult to focus on reading redcafe and also do my work (as I work from home twice a week).

Said elsewhere, when the club retains the services of the very players the fans would rather see the back of, it's a worry. Then when the only genuine world class players either don't sign their contract or openly say they want to leave, that's an additional worry.

On an unrelated note, Moyes' United contract is due to expire this week. What a ride that would have been, huh?

Me neither. Will keep supporting the club of course, but not worth getting worked up over.

Can't see anything changing until the Glazers go sadly.

I almost believe we are under a curse and it will be finally lifted when that godforsaken contract ends.

In some ways at this point, after all the clubs been through, part of me wonders if we'd even be that much worse off if we'd stuck by him when you look at the pitiful state things currently are :nervous:

Greenwood yes, Gomes I feel that something is not working with him, he's always one tempo late in the EPL games. I don't know if he can correct that.

Seems a bit premature to be saying that about Gomes after a grand total of 27 minutes EPL playing time...

I want Sanchez and some others gone because he is taking up minutes that some of our younger players can get in Cup games etc. It hasn't worked out for him and he is a passenger and there are a couple of others starting to fall into that category too. Get these young lads games in the cup and some PL time and it will stand to us far more than trying to play some of our "couldn't be arsed players" into form.

6 years....WTF were the club thinking of...!!

Which EPL games? The 20 odd minutes he's played? :wenger:

We are going to end up with 5 players, but no the players most of the caf want.

We are in the transfer market for a CB, RB, CM, RW and ST (if we sell Lukaku).
But we are not going for too wingers like Sancho, Chiesa, Pepe... We already bought Daniel James. Something similar could happen in the midfield, I think we are going to get Longstaff, no the likes of N'Dombele, Barella, Neves, VdB.

Wan Bissaka looks like a good signing, but he is too overpriced.

Maybe we are linked with Maddison and Fernandes, but they would replace Pogba if he decides to leave.

It looks a priority for Ole to have a British core. If that the case, Sancho, Maddison, Rice and Wan Bissaka would be the best we can get. Are there other British players that you rate to improve our team?

Solskjaer said he expects 2 or 3 signings and for all his talk about the players needing 'reality checks' and all that, he still extended Mata's contract by 2 years while the usual dross like Jones, Young, Smalling, Rojo, Darmian and Lingard are still here while Herrera has left.

I think we will sign 3 players max(Ole was not joking neither is this a negotiation tactics like some say) , maybe 1 or 2 will leave. We will go into the season with threads such as 'what are your expectations for this season? ' and why have we not been able to replace 'Jones and Smalling? ' and 'What do our coaches see in Lingard? ' because let's face it, they will all be integral parts of the team next season.

We will as usual struggle to get points. Solskjaer will come under pressure and maybe sacked as well and the players will remain and the fans will look forward to the January transfer window and we will sign no one as well.

Rinse and repeat..That is the story of my beloved MUFC

Sounds about right. Lies lies and more lies. Like really how hard is it to get rid of Phil Jones.

Unfortunately this seems true as Spurs are signing N’Dombele we’re spending a month to sign a kid from Swansea then another month to sign Wan-Bissaka whilst extending contracts of players that have been a big part of our decline or keeping them around.

I’m sorry but there’s no excuse in the world for why Darmian, Young, Jones, Rojo and Mata are still at the club and for all the talk of paying Sanchez off to leave or loaning him out and subsiding the wages nothing has happened, neither Woodward or Judge have any idea what they’re doing on the football side of things but neither wants to give up their power so the club can move forward.
