5/10 because you absolutely needed to sign a top striker, or at least one with real pedigree.
Doesn't look like we can afford one. Maybe there'll be a surprise in January if we have new owners by then.

***Erik, do you want to sign this guy?

*** Has he played in the eredivisie ?

***No but…

*** No thanks.

feck me, he is literally only buying players he knows.

Ajax fans complained about this before he joined saying he only buys his players.

He seems to have no ability to work with scouts at United.
Ah yes Hojland and Mount, noted graduates of the Ajax academy.

Out of the blue, just like Case. This is the type of leader / vocal midfielder we actually could use vs dirty teams trying to injure our players (Carroll vs Eriksen).

I'd love our midfied to become unpleasant for opponents. Think Mount and Amrabat is a lot of stamina and pressing force in one.

Yeah thank god for that season Casemiro played there or we wouldnt had got him.

Isn't FFP the issue this time? We have to sell before we buy and we can't sell any of our deadwood as nobody wants them.
No as explained by our latest financials. FFP is AN issue but not THE issue

Can control the play as a #6, and will be very useful for us to beat the press and first phase progression.

Mount and Amrabat would clearly be an enormous upgrade on McFred.

Don’t see a problem with managers going for characters he already knows if they’re good enough.

The deal for Mount was obviously awful, but if Liverpool had signed Mount and Amrabat this summer none of us would be critical of them

RedCafe 101 - United can only do 1 deal at a time!

So this must be false...Next!

I think this is more a problem for people who believe literally everything they read.

Exactly! We should only sign Kane, Kim, Caicedo and Lavia with our endless funds. Or even better bring in 11 players from China because ETH doesn't know them. Maybe Rice for 100m when Amrabat outplayed him in ECL final.

Wait are people thinking this is a real rumor, and then criticizing Ten Hag on the back of an obviously fake rumor? Come on... 0 chance we are in for him. Move along.

Well it’s not a problem - but it’s something Ajax fans complained about on this forum; so I’m just recognizing this ‘habit’ he seems to have.

With the signings of last season and this season’s/today’s links (Mount, Onana, Hojlund, Amrabat) - the signings with a history in the eredivisie is approximately 8 to 3 non eredivisie players.

It’s all well now but it’s not exactly like he has the freedom to be signing players from one barrel forever either so it’s something I’m just keeping an eye on.

With all the money Qatar owners potentially give us it would be pretty funny if we spent all that mostly on Eridivisie players

Or maybe he's operating in a well publicised budget?

I never complained about the transfer - just highlighted the habit he has.

It’s something that Ajax fans let us know before Ten Hag signed and I was shocked that Amrabat was actually a player he managed at Utretcht.

I love Ten Hag & support him to do what he wants - including Mount, someone I didn’t rate before and now excited to see how he manages.

I just wonder what the future is going to be like - he isn’t going to have 8 Mason mounts capable to buy every transfer window & who knows, maybe he spends time in the PL long enough to decide he only ever buys PL proven players that prove it in front of his face.

Maybe some fans will or may not like that in the future:rolleyes:

It’s clear there’s something in this and it’s also starting to make sense that United changed their recruitment strategy as soon as they decided D De Gea wouldn’t be number one after projecting higher club revenue for last years accounts.

The club pivoted from ; CF, AM, DM/CM, CB, Young Back up striker with a budget of £120m plus player sales which they would have hoped would give them £200-£220m

Fast forward 2 weeks, the club still in limbo with regard to ownership or it’s done and only 20-30 people know for definite. We now want after a new projected revenue of £630-640m the following ; AM, CF, GK, CM/DM and the rest who knows plus we are struggling to sell anyone of note which means the budget has probably increased to £160-17without player sales due to new financial accounts.

Looks like right now ETH actually wants the following players ; A Onana(GK), S Amrabat(CM), M Mount(AM) and R Hojlund(CF)

If we could buy those 4 for £170-175m and sell D Henderson, Fred, DVB and A Elanga for £65m then we’ve had a more than decent start to the transfer window.

Yes? I don’t get your point. My point is he clearly favours players who have played in the Dutch league.
Favours them or just more affordable?

Besides, it's more coincidence than anything that Eriksen and mount had an extremely limited time in the Dutch league.

You're all making fun of Erik's penchant for players related to Netherlands, forgetting that he's publicly said he needs someone like Txiki at City. He's asked to do DOF and CEO roles because our clowns in charge have no clue what they're doing.

If Erik didn't veto those clowns we'd end up with De Gea/Pickford, Ndidi and Ighalo.

Would much prefer him to Sebitzer I think. Was great at the World Cup and quite a rounded player. Still think we’d need a maestro type midfielder too, but it’s slim pickings out there (should have gone after Tonali!)

Only way I see us getting another midfielder is at least one (probably two) of Van de Meek, McTominay, and Fred leave.

Im all for this type of no nonsense player. It's infuriating how many players just dance through our midfield, easily riding challenges. This guy is built like an Ox. Seems to barge players off the ball effortlessly without even having to put in a tackle at times.

That's a new one

Seemed great in the World Cup. Know nothing otherwise.

Italian media have been pretty poor in regard to getting anything right in relation to us this summer so I’m taking it with a pinch of salt until substantial outlets rises the fire a bit.

Yeah they had a mare on Min-Jae

Signing players on the back of a good world cup. Ehhh.

Weird one this, he didnt really get a lot of chances at Feyenoord, but when he did he was cack, though in retrospect he should clearly be good enough.

If he’s better than Fred and McTominay who appeared 56 and 39 times respectively during the last season then we’d considerably improve our squad by signing him. Sounds good to me, especially if selling McTominay and Fred frees up a considerable amount of FFP funds.

I find it hilarious that people get triggered by the fact that most players we are connected with were playing in Eredivisie, who cares ffs, as long as the player is good enough.
