Sofyan Amrabat | signs for United on loan

i havent seen much of this guy at all...id assume he must be half decent. we cant just expect him to be our savior. honestly, id expect sabitzer levels of performance...but as i started, i havent seen too much of him.

The rest of the squad need to quickly get up to match fitness and improve their performance from tonight. That (not the Amrabat signing) will be our savior
 
I hope I am wrong but I don't think Amrabat will improve us that much. However, he should at least make it more difficult to midtable sides to run through our midfield unchallenged.

He physically strong and can control the tempo. Plus hes a passing machine. That alone will be some help to casemiro.
 
We definitely need him or his profile that can play alongside and deputize for Case. We'll need stronger midfield setups to compete.

With you on that. Especially today I don't think, he would have helped too much. The issue was that we didn't have people who wanted the ball, all attackers were trying to run in behind, the midfield was almost nonexistent. Having a great passer adds another pne to give passes. But if it always is a ball over the top, we won't add any control to our play. Obviously I'd rather take him than nobody, but I am worried that peoples expectations will be super high and the player itself won't be able to reach these
 
Said to all my mates all along during pre season after watching some of the games, it will be Amarabat, Casemiro and Mount or Bruno as advanced midfielder.

Even 1st half vs Lens last week we got cut open in midfield with Cass, Bruno and Mount. No balance in there.

Amarabat tactically clued in and more disaplined in that midfield role.

Imagine us playing city with the midfield trio tonight or a good midfield we be on end of another drubbing.

He'd vitally improve us and would have made today's game look much different, as he's essentially an Eriksen with more mobility and defensive presence. The issue is he instantly benches our #7 that the manager wanted so bad :lol:
 
I like him, but I’m not sure another small energetic dude ETH managed in a crap league is gonna solve the problem of us being bullied by the bigger boys.

Small ?? He is 185cm and built like a truck. I cant understand how you can call him small ? Do you think other team midfielders consist of prime Lebrons ? If you say he's slow I understand but saying he's small is just plain ol bs
 
I don't think the answer lies in one midfielder changing the fortunes of this team. The ideal profile of player is one who replaces Mounts position. Bruno is not being dropped so it would look like Amrabat, Bruno and Casemiro which quality wise is unacceptable after spending 120M in this area of the field.

Neville made a good point that, that was the first team midfield out there last tonight and they didn't stand a chance. The issue as it stands with this current system is a tactical one. Scouts seemingly couldn't work to find a 6/8 that can progress the ball from defence to midfield. So the managers going to have to make some adjustments for everything to click. I can't see it coming from a signing.

How is that not acceptable quality for 130-140m (including Bruno transfer fee). Thats pretty good midfield with Mount and Eriksen as other option.

We are often bullied by players that are energetic and come from crap leagues.

It's just us.

Bruno is not a ETH signing therefore I don't consider his price but his influence is important because it's to equate balance in the midfield. 70M Casemiro 55M Mount. It's not good enough in terms of balance.
 
We needed a 6 and an 8 this summer and we buy Mount. Make it make sense.

Amrabat on his own will not be enough. With Arsenal and Chelsea getting the 2 best young midfielders available we've fallen behind our rivals this summer.
 
I don't know how good he actually is but can't believe I'm pinning all my hopes on him

He certainly isn't slow. I have watched him compete against numerous fast players and he has held his own

I dont like to follow YT comps to describe players (Especially ones with titles like that) but the below vid is one of the best I found to show what his pace is like and there are some instances which aren't even captured here.

We need to see a increased level of intensity from the team because what we saw earlier was nowhere near good enough. And as far as individual performances are concerned, Shaw and Garnacho on the left were particularly poor in the first half. Garnacho constantly gave the ball away and we should expect better from Shaw, which was disappointed to see.

The issue we've got with the two high #8s is that I'm not sure we have the fullbacks to make it work. Shaw inverting in-field had a poor game and AWB is too safe a passer to be effective in-field and is best utilised out wide.

I think we need a first receiver in midfielder and then play the double pivot. If the midfielder we buy is Amrabat, then I'd have Mount as the #10 with Bruno as the left sided playmaker (not left winger) and Casemiro and Amrabat in a double pivot. I think the team below would be better as far as far as balance is concerned and it wouid be far more difficult to play through us centrally, and it would also suit the collective unit more than any one individual player. Bruno as the left sided attacker wouldn't be playing as a winger but rather a left sided playmaker/midfielder similar to how ten Hag has utilised Tadic in the past.

And if we manage to play through the thirds comfortably with the team above, then the shape should resemble the same team below in a higher line imo. I think it suits us better for now and there should be more than enough games for everyone to play over the course of the season. Mount can also be utilised as wide forward if required.

We don’t have to sign a midfield mega talent immediately just because others have this summer. We may do so next summer as well if the right one is available. Right now I’d say anyone who can help with the buildup phase will be a big asset as we need beefing up there whether it’s from DM or the 8.

We have a DM in Casmeiro and we have players who can play the 8 too. We aren’t going to add two additional players for both positions this summer. A squad is built over a period of time.

October is two months away and we’ve got an international break in the middle! Teams get injuries all the time , you don’t need to make a signing for each one.

is a good set of midfielders. Would I like a brilliant playmaker in there? Yes. But for the coming season that’s a good line up to go for top 4.
