Hopefully they promote him, we need that kind of punditry on sky/tntHopefully United Stand boot him off
Will they boot the owner off? Seen a clip of him the other day suggesting that if you want United to keep the likes of Mainoo around then your Glazers in. They're all clowns.Hopefully United Stand boot him off
That is a stretch? He is a clever defensive player but hardly a prime Kante. This is a ridiculously bad take. You're talking about one of the best dms in the world by any metric. Casemiro is extremely mobile as is evident by the fact that he's in the 99th percentile for almost all defensive stats. If you had criticised his passing I could maybe understand your point, but this is just fantasy.

Do you think there‘s a possibility him and Casemiro could be paired together in those big games against tough, high quality central midfields? At the moment, it feels like just Casemiro in those games may not be enough.
Casemiro and Amrabat as a two, with Bruno the attacking centre mid and Mount put out wide for example?

Competition probably the wrong word. Cover, sure, but without buying anyone we still have McTominay, mainoo and Eriksen as our backup midfield so cover wise it's *fine*. Hence why our pricetag for McTominay is 40m. But i do think amrabat would provide a lot and be a good part of the squad, but more often than not I'd guess he'd be a sub like Fred was last season. We need genuine competition for Casemiro and someone who could play with him in a two to give EtH better tactical options. We do need a striker more urgently though, I agree with that.
Tbh McTominay and Eriksen aren't genuine backups to Casemiro. Neither of them can play the dm role properly which is why our midfield was so pathetic for so long with McFred in midfield because neither knew how to position themselves on the pitch in a dm role. Mainoo is the one that might be genuine option, but I suppose I can understand ETH's hesitance to go with an untested 18 year old in such an important position.Competition probably the wrong word. He's not going with him as a starter though. He said it in the presser, you need a squad spot open for the young players to be able to make their mark. Casemiro is the starter, McTominay and Eriksen were a solid pairing whenever they needed to play last season, and mainoo can learn off Casemiro to improve. You sign Amrabat without selling mctominay and you might as well loan Mainoo out.Tbh McTominay and Eriksen aren't genuine backups to Casemiro. I don't disagree with you tbh. I would hope that McTominay is sold as I think Mainoo is much more naturally talented than him and with game time against better players he'll become a much better midfielder than McTominay imo. I do think Amrabat is a good signing though, preferably with McTominay and Fred being sold, which would give us squad options of Casemiro, Bruno, Mount, Amrabat, Eriksen, Mainoo which is a healthy balance imo. It does feel like that's the plan this season if we can find buyers for Fred and Scott. Whether Mainoo gets as much gametime as I'd ideally want, I suspect he probably won't, but hopefully he would at least get significant mins in the cups and maybe the CL if we can wrap up the group stage early. He's not going with him as a starter though. Yeah agree.. don't forget still gotta also sell Van de Beek. Basically have 2 deadwood midfielders and then McTominay who has a role but who we ideally want to replace. From 2 years ago but since you mentioned Kante. Look mate you can't rank so highly in tackles, blocks, clearances, interceptions and touches without covering huge distances in a match and any look at his fbref make it clear how elite he is in these areas. The only area he isn't absolutely world class is in his passing and even that is often because he tries to pass the ball into the final 3rd so often rather than playing a basic safe pass.
Oh ya, I always forget about Donny. He might be tougher to move on. Hopefully somebody takes him. Mainoo should be above him in the squad regardless of whether or not he gets a transfer imoYeah agree.. don't forget still gotta also sell Van de Beek. I agree he will probably find it hard to get into the team regularly but the difference between him and McFred is that he is good enough to keep Case on his toes. He could play if Case drops his level (say, he’s carrying a knock) whereas McFred would only play ahead of Case if he is categorically unavailable.Competition probably the wrong word. Yeah, remember the game at Palace last year. Case was one booking away from a ban. Had to play the whole game, of course got booked and missed the game at Arsenal as a result (and we flipping drew at Palace anyway!).I agree he will probably find it hard to get into the team regularly but the difference between him and McFred is that he is good enough to keep Case on his toes. Two wrongs dont make it right.I wouldn’t be against VDB getting another chance.
The other deadweights got years.
So rather than make improvements, keep doing the same things that have failed us? Interesting.I wouldn’t be against VDB getting another chance.

I wish there was something I could grasp onto with Donny. A performance. A particular set of skills. Hell...an attribute.I wouldn’t be against VDB getting another chance.

Exactly. Amrabat will raise the bottom level of our midfield but by pushing Case he will also raise the top level. And he will give EtH tactical options: he could play with Case but, also, instead of him in certain games subject to form and the nature of the opposition. We have to get a striker in first but after that this guy would be a significant buy.Yeah, remember the game at Palace last year. Case was one booking away from a ban. Having Amrabadt available for Palace could have helped a lot.
Things will be looking pretty fecking rosey but still a little question mark over how many goals we can rack up.Love his physic, press resistance, clean tackles, ball progress, passing is on point it's gonna be crazy having Casimero, Amrabat, Ericksen, Fernandes, Mount, Mainoo in that midfield. Teams are not ready for this.
If we get Amrabat, Hojlund, a good backup CB for Varane/Martinez and manage to sell off Fred, McTominay and Maguire then I believe we will be serious contenders for the League title.

Have we been linked with Amrabat from anyone in the English media ?
I find it a bit weird all of these Italian sources saying we've agreed terms but no one in England has even mentioned we're in discussions. Meanwhile The Athletic has confirmed we've bid for Hojlund today (A player based in the same country as Amrabat)
That is true but I do remember mentions of us being in for Onana and at least a bid. Amrabat is complete silence on the English side. The English media have had a bit of a mare this transfer window. I wouldn’t pay much attention to what they are or aren’t reporting like it’s gospel. It was the same with Onana, all the noise coming from the Italian side right up until a deal was nearing completion then the English media decided to pick up on it.

Martial No. But it was deadline day iirc. Bailly there were reports from England.Did we ever get anything from the UK media before we signed Martial/Bailly?

Thing is this Amrabat thing has been going on for at least 10 days now according to Italian media, still nothing from English media.
What if we only manage to sell two of Fred, McTominay and Maguire? Will we come just short of winning the league? Maybe it will come down to just the final few minutes of the last game of the season, with Fred/McTominay/Maguire figuring out a way to ruin the season for everyone. If we get Amrabat, Hojlund, a good backup CB for Varane/Martinez and manage to sell off Fred, McTominay and Maguire then I believe we will be serious contenders for the League title.

Yeah, he'll sit on the bench the whole season. I don't see how it affects our chances of winning the league, as long as we don't suffer an injury crisis.Think there’s a very strong chance we only sell two of them, feels like Maguire is gonna be the hardest one to sell out of those three
