Let's give Amrabat some credit, as it seems we can assess some of what has been reported all summer was accurate : He does seem to favour coming here and did act on it.

All just a matter of us finding a financial solution with Fio.

We signed 3 first 11 players by August for 170m . It hasn’t been a shambolic mess of a window at all.
I don’t get the ‘mess of a window’ assessments we’re always seeing….it’s like people have forgotten the previous 15-odd windows that have been far worse

People only have a 4 week memory span. If we haven’t signed anyone in that period we’ve done feck all. It’s like when you see people saying we’re broke and it’s a disgrace without any awareness of the fact we’ve spent 380m in 12 fecking months.

When you hear footballers say "it was my childhood dream to play for this club" or something along those lines, it's usually horseshit. However, Amrabat has genuinely held out all Summer for us. Wonder if he sleeps in United pyjamas?

Fair play to him if he's turned down a big Saudi offer. He's not the sort of player that's had a particularly lucrative career.

Either he does sleep in them, or there will be some scenes when he asks "and where is Pep?" on his first morning in training when he's getting the tour.

We are not playing with two dm’s.

If we do sign him we will absolutely play him alongside Casemiro in some games. Sometimes it’ll be from the start, sometimes it’ll be from the bench to close out a game, depending on the opposition.

Naaah. I bet he doesn't even know Manchester has two teams. He's Red all over.

I know it makes me sound like a proper gullible twat but the 'I only want United' shouts are music to my ears . I barely know a thing about the player but I'm desperate for us to sign him now.

I think we’ll get this over the line.. the Henderson sale and McTominay going will be vital though.

The hindrance with Maguire wasn't actual cash, it was the FFP budget. You're 100% correct if we are just talking about cash. He's a sunk cost and he's hardly going to be used so cutting our losses and getting a more useful player in makes sense.

The problem is that our FFP transfer budget would have actually been reduced by dumping Maguire in this way, because the remaining amortization of his transfer fee is immediately counted in full as a loss. Selling him for a low enough fee actually reduced the amount of money we could spend on transfers wrt FFP accounting.

Perhaps irrational but I'd still do it. He really isn't the character you want around the club, a senior player who has no ambition and an entitled attitude.

I'm not buying the FFP line either, you can work around it and even if you don't. The punishment for minor breaches is small.

I'm just sick of this club, the way it is run seriously impacts my mental health.

If we’d sold a certain 4th choice centre back it’d be an amazing window though, right?

It’s our obligation to sign this guy with the effort he’s gone to. Deserves 3 full seasons of patience from fans too.

In all seriousness though it shouldn’t have taken this long.

Word. Swear I'm going to be at least 40% more focussed, calm and productive with an average bp at least 25 lower once we're actually sold...

I believe, with remaining value and wage saving, we could have let him go for around 26m or so and more than broken even... Don't think pay-offs are included in FFP directly, unless someone can correct.

Let us get this over the line.

He will not be a failure in the EPL like Ziyech and Boufal. He will be a success like Aguerd.

Ten Hag needs his signings to deliver, as there are mixed feeling about the impact of the signings already made. Antony, Malacia, Eriksen, Martinez, Casemiro, Mount. Important that Amrabat succeeds.

In fact it’s even worse: If Mount has a good game when he returns after the int’l break, we’ll have dozens of posts about him being like a new signing.
