I think ETH rates Mainoo as a first team player alot more than people give it credit for, and also we clearly don't have real appetite to spend anymore money, hopefully because the takeover is about to happen.

I can only trust EtH because he sees a lot more Mainoo than us and that's his knowing football job. I think it would be risky to rely on him (if only for injury considerations) but it has become the norm to throw very young players in the mix -and not just at United-.
He’s not. A good World Cup for Morocco counts for nothing in the league where he plays for a pretty average Fiorentina team that lost to fecking west ham in the final.

Amrabat is MUCH better than McT for us because if nothing else Amrabat can clearly play as a defensive midfielder, which we really need, while McT clearly cannot.
Is Amrabat the best we could have bought? No. Is he who we should be buying if we were the best team in England? Probably Not. Is he better than midfielders our competitors bought this Summer? Clearly not . But they paid three times the price than what Amrabat costs and Glazers wont even buy him without more sales.
So there're all those things but saying that Amrabat is not an improvement over McT for us - that is simply wrong.

They're very different players for a start. Amrabat is better on the ball. I like to think his positioning, honed by years of playing in Serie A, makes him a potent holding midfielder.
He's not just better for us. He is far and away the better player full stop.

If you had watched that final against West Ham you would have known a bit more about him. He dominated the midfield and was fantastic against a certain 105m pound midfielder. How so? Liverpool who have a need for another midfielder passed on him and instead went for a 30 year old stopgap option in Endo. This is all agent and club talk to try and get rid of a player who isn’t interested in signing a new contract with Fiorentina. One year left on his deal yet no decent club is interested? Perhaps because he isn’t the game changer that all of you want him to be. Again I’d rather wait for Mainoo then waste money on another average midfielder on decent wages. We have a few already we can’t get rid of.

If the decision is, bring in nobody or Amrabat, I'd certainly go for Amrabat. I hope (I really really really do) though, that we bring in an even better fit or have another plan in place (be it Mainoo or Mejbri or whatever, doesn't even have to be a good plan, but a plan would be great)
