Yeah Carrick without the goals and assists.
Carrick didnt get many goals or assists did he?

a player who scored a few belters (Wigan, QPR, Roma spring to mind) but a player who should have scored much more

Are United leaving this to a point where Fiorentina don't have time to play hardball with us?

Are we really so skint that we can't afford about €30m for a desperately needed Casemiro backup/deputy? Amrabat signing should be a no brainer. It's been talked about for basically 2 months now.

I am really starting to wonder if we are just playing the guy which is bang out of order. He has been waiting for us around 2 months and still dicking around trying to sell Donny

It’s so bizarre.

Meanwhile Amrabat isn’t even playing for Fiorentina, so they must be seriously pissed off with him. And if he does eventually sign, I bet he isn’t fully fit due to not playing games.

We're not skint. We were ready to pay for Kane to some extent, and on top of that wanted Kim-Min Jae, while negotiating for Mount and having Onana, plus striker in mind.

I would rather buy an average player like Amrabat to cover for Casemiro then watch McTominay disaster in midfield again, the further he and Eriksen are from starting the better, such a shame Mainoo is injured wonder if he could have been given chance already, but perhaps just a pure excitement from the preseason..

Fbref stats

This is the player he is. And the longer he doesn't play, the better he gets defensively on here.

Impressive passing stats and we desperately need some more quality on the ball, ideally he would have stronger ball carrying ability then negates need for another player

That's the urban myth that we were in for Kane.

We could never afford the transfer fee and his wage package of at least 400k/week. Plus his transfer of 100m? Hoylund's total package is about 25-30% of Kane's total package.

We can't sell Donny. He's a trickster, cosplayer pretending to be a professional footballer. Unsellable, useless asset.

Yeah thats why we have Casemiro in the squad. For passing and ball carrying. :)

I'll ask myself - would Amrabat change yesterdays game?

Edit: I don't really get it, some posters have talked themselves into us needing a ball carrier all of a sudden (even though this is one thing, Mount is decent in) - because ball carriers have hurt us so much against Wolves and Spurs? Stop it by doing the same or what kind of concept is this?

Casemiro isn't a ball carrier to the same extent of Thuram at Nice or even Gravenberch

Fred, Henderson and Elanga. It's just a lame excuse from the club so they can feel justified keeping hold of McTominay.

IF we somehow find a taker for Donny wouldn't be surprised to see us look elsewhere

Ball carriers can be nice but a good passer of the ball can launch an attack from his box in an instant. I will take Carrick and Scholes progressive passes over anyone's ball carrying skills.

I'm sick of people on this thread saying we're skint. We're not skint, it wouldn't even make sense, it's FFP. We're on a fine line with FFP and Amrabat would push us over the line unless we sell.

They're more than a luxury to be fair. You need players with the ability to carry through the press and disrupt pressing traps. Much harder to do that with passing. However, by carrying through the press, the entire pressing system is disrupted and free space emerges to advance the ball.

Cant say I understand tactics in great depth, but I do recall being very impressed with players like Scholes, Xavi, Modrić, and Pirlo over the decades, as they'd completely dominate matches with their range of passing. I'd take a player like that in the team any day over someone who can "carry" the ball

You think they're feigning interest in the player to unsettle him for what, their own amusement?

Not really the Casemiro replacement many think then. Seems like McTominay with more of an eye for a pass.
