Social Media Justice: A "Karen" faces consequences for threatening a Black man with cops

 I used to see incidents like that all the time (without the guns).
My daughter spent last summer in the city (San Fran) and was amazed at the aggro she witnessed.
She's had a sheltered life, of sorts, so it's good practice for when she moves to downtown Chicago in late August. It'll have (hopefully) helped her cope better with the screaming idiots.
What sort of aggro? I was taken aback by the level of homeless in San Francisco and the sheer volume of homeless people absolutely off their heads, wandering along or collapsed on the street.

I said only one side brandished deadly weapons.
Because she didn’t stand there with her fist held up like a guard?

but I get what you mean yes, and agree that fighting very rarely solves anything

I'm going to address this part and leave the rest to yourself.

I can't judge the level of threat yet you can and you even go as far as have sympathy for people you don't know? And I have been in many altercations, I used to have a short fuse and I'm using my own experience, when you stop trying to be a tough for the sake of being tough it's fairly easy to be rational. I will also tell you something I'm pretty that you haven't been in many altercations because when you do, you realize how easy it is to really hurt someone or end up being hurt yourself, in a previous thread about fights, I'm pretty sure that I said to people to not fight, don't punch people and especially do not punch someone in the face because it hurts a lot, your hands won't like it and the fight is probably for a dumb reason.

But do what you want, try to act tough and pretend that you are all instincts and no brain.

If you think that they did this to be macho then we're done. Obviously you seems to made up your mind.

Fyi i fear getting into altercations because there's no good coming out of it. I'll either get my head kicked or getting a vendetta, or a lawsuit. And all of my life I'd advice people to take your ego and avoid fight at a cost.

I don't think so, where do you see that?

Im fecking laughing at your last point there because you just spent the last two pages saying it's ok to pull a gun on two women over a verbal altercation in a parking lot.
So that's it guys, avoid a fight and check your ego or have a gun pulled on you. Haha, all that bullshit and you end up here.

Just ‘regular’ people being assholes in public. You don’t see much in suburbia cos you drive a lot but when she’s was on foot she was nearer to the action, so to speak. It was people getting annoyed at all sorts of perceived slights, complaining about the service or the wrong change.
That, in addition to the ‘regular’ crazies on the streets of any big city.

Lots of homeless in San Fran alright.
She’s seen that before but this time she was without us and had to walk by them every day.

For context: she’s grown up in the “OC bubble” as people refer to it here; the nice, safe, clean area - compared to the gritty LA areas so it’s a bit of a shock for some people to see up close what I would call normal city life.

Does San Francisco has a large french community?

A friend of mine was living there for years but decided to ship his whole family home on the third consecutive day he walked past a homeless person taking a shit on the sidewalk.

That seems extreme. Why couldn't he just move to Marin County or even a slightly nicer area?

We've got guy at work that seems to regularly see stuff like that in LA (his homeless stories always involves dudes without trousers).
I've been telling him that he must be on the look out for it. It can't be coincidence. :boring:

Ah right, I can imagine the OC bubble is pretty gilded compared to most places.

Things like the tube would be a culture shock to many outside of London here- a level of in your face and rudeness you don't get elsewhere in the country.

It's really not a biggie though. I'm sure everyone builds a tolerance up to randoms being arseholes in public quickly enough.

The people being so off their head in SanFran was different though- you have to be wary of their unpredictability.

On my first ever trip to London I saw an old woman have a piss on a busy pavement in Bayswater.

According to twitter he's still the owner

Ah well I guess if it's his company he can do what the feck he wants. He won't last long in the marketing industry though, I'd give it less than a month before all his clients cut ties.

On Page 27 of this thread I only had 14 posts to read.

10 of which were replying to people I had on ignore.

So 4 posts of any value (to me, obviously).

I struggle to see how these are readable to people. I can’t be the only one that puts so many on ignore? (Though Entirely possible. I’m quite militant).
Ignoring this post is obviously the thing to do.

I find myself battling between whether this calling out is good for society or not. It's certainly cathartic to see people get what they deserve but i wonder whether there's any context missed that explains away some actions. If they can ever be explained away.

If you're an employer you'd legally have to take into account capability and history before sacking but on twitter the mob descends.

On the balance of probability though they're most likely just scumbags so feck em

The thing is the twitter mob often has no impact in the real economy(lots are professional trolls or teenagers from other regions/countries) and they also move to something else quickly since there is always a new big event on Twitter. So my intuition tells me that the few people who get in trouble with their employers have been in trouble for a while and these twitter events are only an excuse to take actions. Whether it is legitimate or not.

If you live in a neighborhood where plenty of people carry guns and there are regular break ins it's a very natural desire. A gun becomes a difference maker. In certain situations its perfect for home defense.

Also perfect if you are a bit sick of having so many children.
