Social Media Justice: A "Karen" faces consequences for threatening a Black man with cops

@Dante @Hugh Jass @hobbers @Wolverine

Hi gents,

Abit more on slide 2, an onlooker says she saw ‘Karen’ pursue the guy first - then apparently it got all too real.

The fact multiple members of the public have come to her aide & she’s still hollering is disconcerting.

Not a single mention of her using the n-word.

Was she a bit cnuty? Yeah. But I can encounter 10 cnuts per day on my way to work. Hell, I've been guilty of flipping people off myself. She has every right to be hysterical as long as she's not abusing or hurting anyone, imo.

I sympathise with the guy, but I don't like the weaponisation of BLM (if that's what he's attempting).

He's lucky he sounds so camp.

Were it a straight guy following a woman home in his car, blocking her in and then whipping his phone out on her while she has a breakdown... yeh for a minor road incident he would be in for some backlash, whatever colour he was.

Totally agree.

The deevolution of the ‘Karen’ is complete

Edit: To confirm I think the man is obviously poking the bear in this situation but her, “you’re attacking me” is hilarious.

I thought this was going to be some performance art piece lampooning the recent Karen in Central Park. I’m still not sure it isn’t.

These idiots make me so embarrassed to be white. I’ve been carjacked at gunpoint by people of color & I didn’t act remotely this idiotic & haven’t carried any semblance of a grudge in the decades after.

The fact he mentioned the ‘n word’ in passing can raise eyebrows but as previously said we shouldn’t have to see video to believe someone’s story.

Even if we park the ‘n word’ witnesses say she followed him first, given that fact I can’t see any justification for her reaction. She’s continuing to wail even after people arrive & are deescalating the situation.

He comes across poorly but what reaction would have suited her best? She flipped him off, then followed him.

He is already selling t-shirts about the encounter.

I dont feel comfortable with this at all. Its awful that he put it online. I think he is in the wrong.
I don’t think it’s my place to feel comfortable with the situation, the encounter could seemingly have been avoided had ‘Karen’ not followed him.

As for selling t shirts, it’s a tricky one because attempting to capitalise immediately makes his reasons questionable but imagine having an idea to sell t shirts & finding a willing ‘Karen’ so easily.

Obviously there's no actual evidence here but in just curious, who ever reacts like that unless they've been caught doing something?

Right? That dude is the least threatening guy ever by the sound of his voice and his choice of vehicle.

If you watch the second video, that's where the eye witnesses corroborate his story.

But the only thing they've corroborated is that she slammed her brakes. The Carlos guy never makes the racism accusation in front of any of the eye witnesses, and they never volunteer the information. Which is bizarre to say the least, because it would be the first thing most would bring up in the situation.

If she hurled racist abuse from one car to another, the people around him would have heard. Again, I'm not saying it didn't happen. But I think we need to be careful.

There are Karens and then there are emotionally stunted women. I don't think the latter should be a crime.

Have you honestly never met any crazy women? I wish I'd been as lucky as you in my life.

Cutting somebody up and brake checking them deserves a ticket. Not a doxxing.

This. The impression i get from him is he is trying to milk this for what it is worth.

Remember in the video, he has literally just got out of her car, not thinking calmly having just been abused. Also, he knows he doesn't have evidence of it, so difficult to make the claim.
He mentions it several times in the longer film below after 8 min.
I believe him, because he was so affronted, and because of the woman's hysterics.

If there's corroborating evidence, that'll settle the matter. But until there is, the holier-than-thou rush to judgement doesn't reflect well on anyone.

I just don't want to ruin another person's life based on the word of one guy who can't keep a consistent story. We'd might as well give up on civilisation if that's how low the bar is for justice.

Everyone should find it problematic when two people have a disagreement, one of them raises a flimsy racial accusation based on stereotype, and then mob justice descends on the other.

Just don't be racist and you'll be fine.

Yea i dont like this whole culture whereby people have disagreements in life and then one person pulls out their phone and posts the whole thing on social media.

There was a guy in Dublin cycling around with a camera on his head, deliberately provoking drivers and then posting all the footage on youtube. Nothing racial. He just wanted to record peoples reactions to him when he confronted them. I think his videos got taken down. Numerous people on a different forum were saying he needed help. That is sort of the culture we live in today where everyone has the potential to be a journalist.

I am a cyclist myself and have had people in buses especially pass by so close it was nervewracking. I could easily remember their license plate when it happens and report them. But i dont bother.

My opinion is she did what he claimed.
I have no judgement because I'm humble enough to admit that I don't know.

I can understand your desire to be an ally by being more zealous and more extreme than the next guy.

But the only way to retain the moral integrity of movement as worthy as BLM is to stick to its founding principle that everybody deserves a fair shake. Not to be correctively unfair and quick to cast the first stone.

Karenning doesn't require racism to be karenning.
This./

I posted the video because of her hysterical reaction.

It wasn’t caught on video & apparently people need to see evidence to believe his claims so we can park the race element for a moment & look at what we do know.

As has been corroborated by onlookers this lady swore at & then chased him only to then play them Karen’ when reprimanded.

As much as he only claims racism once in the video I posted she is so erratic she doesn’t even defend the accusation, her wails are all about what she now feels is being done to her but not once [from what I can decipher] does she call bullsh*t.

We may all have reacted differently but he didn’t begin the interaction; you can’t initiate a problem then get emotional because the person on the receiving end reacts.

I agree. Verbal racist abuse is anyway the the least violent form racism. Despite being vile and unjust, at the end of the day, it's still just a word and the receiver can choose not to be affected by it. Rather, it is these types of hidden masked forms of racism that are so much more dangerous.

What was learned from the Amy Cooper episode, and from what I believe is happening here, is Karen's posses an instinctual level of hysterics, that would make a neutral onlooker believe she was under serious physical danger from a black man. And if the police turn up to such a scenario, it always ends very badly for him. Her completely over the top reaction is cynical racism in itself, and that's before we even get to the alleged verbal abuse.

Is this real? I thought it was a made up parody. But does everyone film everyone these days?

This is where I thought the discussion would lead in all honesty, I wasn’t expecting so many to be wary cause of the lack of ‘n word’ on video.

Her hysterics are a defence mechanism, & given a video showing about 10 people around her with her still hollering it comes across as her way of not actually dealing with the situation at hand.

We can’t definitively see what caused the video but she seems far more worried about her reputation than anything else.

Man tells hysterical woman don't worry, he's not going to put it on Instagram. Not only puts it on Instagram but is even selling T-shirts about it.

There's a cruelty about this incident which is disproportionate to the offence, in my view.
